I got one off of eBay today, and the thing won't power up. The AC adapter seems to have something loose in it. Sounds like something is shaking around in there. Otherwise, the system seems great. I need to know if the AC adapter would be most likely be the only problem with it. I'd hate to go out and spend some money on a new AC adapter, just to find out that the system itself is broken. Any ideas?

Take the system to EB/Gamestop where they sell used AC adapters and ask them if you can test it out to see if it's the system or the adapter itself before buying.

look at the connector pins on the AC adapter, see if all are accounted for.

one of the first used ones I bought from EB games had one broken off and it was making that rattling noise when I shook the AC adapter. also since one the pins was broken off it wouldn't even power on/connect to my N64.
