Yaeh, I'm sort of in a panic mode at the moment. I was deleting a whole slew of files frm my computer and in the process I believe that I may have deleted some of my final papers for my classes. In truth, I think I may have simply moved it some where, but before that I deleted all the stuff from the recycle bin and can't remember the full list of items I deleted so I'm worried I may have deleted them. I don't really need a program for file recovery (but one couldn't hurt if there is a good one out there), but rather one that can just say what I ust deleted from the recycyle bin and maybe keep a history for me.

Why don't you just do a search for ".doc" or whatever format your paper it in?
If the search doesn't bring up your paper in the results then you can start worrying about how to bring it back from Recycle Bin hell.

Yaeh, thanks I did that already both through my desktop search and through regular crappy MS search. No luck. That's why I'm worrying, but I'm an optimist. Oh and I would also like to retrieve/know some of the other files I deleted.

If you remember the location of the file, go to Run, type in cmd, then use RECOVER [drive][file path][file name], and it should work.

Tried it and get cannot lock file. Drive is still in use or something to that effect.

Hmm, you could try getting this freeware program called Fix-It Utilities. I'm pretty sure it's freeware, at least. It has a lot of features, one of which is a File Undeleter, and the other is File Recovery. It also has the option to backup anything you flag as important so this won't happen again.

Fix-It Utilities is indeed a non-freeware (ergo pay for it) program. Just google it iv you don't believe me.
