Hey guys,

This may be a fairly stupid question, but I'm having an issue connecting my Xbox to a woofer/2 speaker setup I have. It's an Altec Lansing speaker system, which has everything plug into the woofer, and is controlled via a remote.

My problem seems to be that the RCA cables that come with the Xbox can't reach both the TV (for video) and the woofer (for audio) because they're split so close to the end. In other words, my woofer would have to be about 3 inches from the back of my TV in order for the cables to reach.

Do I need a male/female 2-RCA extender (which I've haven't really been able to find online), or am I just missing something really obvious?

Well, RCA cables are attached close together because most people use their TV's speakers.

I'm not sure if this is possible with the standard Xbox cables but if you grab hold of the video (yellow) and the audio (red & white) portions and pull, you can 'rip' them apart so that you can reach both a video source and an audio source. It should take much force at all but you might not be able to do it if there's a guard (a hard plastic piece).

Yes you need the female ot male extension.. Or better yet would be a female to female adapter (its about 1 inch long) then a standard Red/White RCA cable for your required length.

Its easier to find those female adapters and the standard RCA Cable.

You need a coupler. (http://www.radioshack.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2102694&cp=&origkw=rca+coupler&kw=rca+coupler&parentPage=search)

That and a set of regular composite cables.
