GT4 with new slim ps2 doesn't work??

I just bought a new slim and gt4 wouldn't work with it, screen would say ' insert ps2 game', replaced it with another new and still wouldn't work. But it worked on my friend's old slim. Anyone else had this problem?

No, this has gotta be a stupid question but do other games work fine?

One thing I sometimes do with my slim ps2 is I do not put the disc in properly, sometimes one part of the disc wont' be fit snug all the way around. Even though it makes the "snap" noise that makes me think it's in there.

false alarm dudes, I wiped it even though the cd looked nearly spotless, now it works
