I special ordered MGS2:S from gamecrazy a while back. Of course, they gave me a shitty disc only copy. It doesn't look too bad, there are some scratches of course.

The problem I have is that I'm in the arsenal gear section of the game and everytime campbell calls me on the codec with his crazy ass scissors mumbling, the disc can't read and I get no audio. I've also had some of the cutscenes that use video skip out a lot or outright not play.

I think i remember hearing that MGS2:S was a disc that had some problems because it was a higher density disc than usual at the time, can anyone recall this? Old reviews and message boards make no mention of it. Otherwise I'm gonna tell gamecrazy to get me another copy.. I forgot how awesome MGS2 is.

how much did it cost at gamecrazy? I'm hunting down a copy myself.

There have been plenty of anecdotal reports that some PS2s (early models usually) have trouble with dual-layer disks, which MGS2:S uses. Thankfully my PS2 has never choked on any disk, including the less than pristine copy of Substance I played recently.

$12.99 I think. I swapped an old special order that they couldn't find for MGS2:S so i was pretty happy with the price. And they let me take the case/booklet from the rental side. I just finished it tonight, for some reason it managed to play all of the ending without a problem.

As to the person who said older PS2s have the problem, I'm playing on a slim PS2. Who knows. It worked anyway, good enough.
