Nes conbtroller with Snes end possible?

I have bought an extenstion cable and this whole setup isnt working. I am curious if anyone has usccessfully got a nes controller to adapt to a snes plug and then use it with a smart joy or snes?

I believe it's actually a mistake. He meant to say that you can cut off an SNES connector and make an NES controller out of it, not the other way around.
