I don't care if it's delayed by a year... just make it the OS they've promised us since Windows 95. I know that's probably asking for too much but MS has been looking at Apple for a lot of things lately, including the GUI for Vista.
One of their Apple imitations, that's fairly well done, is WMP11. Runs much faster than iTunes and uses up less resources on my Laptop. Too bad it's still a beta and has some bugs.
Which brings me to another point, those hardware requirements for the 'premium' version of Vista are ridiculous. As if requiring a hell of a GPU wasn't enough, they also want 40GB of HD space, and a GB of RAM!:-x

It requires you to have a gaming rig to enjoy the fully functionality. Whooooops, there goes shit loads of business.
Don't know about anyone else, but I've been running my desktop in Classic Windows Mode since moving from 98SE to XP; couldn't even stand the minor interface changes XP brought. I give less than a shit about thumbnails of minimized windows and 3D desktop features. Just be proactive about keeping it secure, keep it supported, and maybe incorporate better legacy software support than a compatibility wizard eclipsed by volunteer efforts. (http://dosbox.sourceforge.net/) Save the GUI upgrades for third parties.

Vista is going to send MSFT well into the 30s after the launch. Bought another 300 shares at 23.49 today. This is going to be the greatest swing trade of my life.

You seriously consider those requirements ridiculous? I know a couple of years ago that may have seemed like a lot, but those components have come down in price significantly. I wouldn't even consider buying a laptop with less than a 40 GB HD, let alone a desktop. 1 GB of ram may not be tiny, but it isn't huge either, and it is an inexpensive upgrade. I think you are overreacting.

That's correct. If you're going to get Vista, you probably have a good computer or you're buying a new computer so chances are that the upgrade won't be a problem. Luddites should not be the deciding factor.

I hope it doesn't slip too much. This is because I am waiting for it to come out before purchasing a new laptop, I want it to already come bundled with it.

The stock trader guy has the right idea. No matter how late Vista is the stock price will skyrocket close to release..
Vista doesn't really matter to me since I'd have to build an entire new rig to run it (which I have no plans to do until the next good MMORPG comes around).

------------
A Windows Vista Capable PC includes at least:
* A modern processor (at least 800MHz1).
* 512 MB of system memory.
* A graphics processor that is DirectX 9 capable.
A Windows Vista Premium Ready PC includes at least:
* 1 GHz 32-bit (x86) or 64-bit (x64) processor1.
* 1 GB of system memory.
* A graphics processor that runs Windows Aero2.
* 128 MB of graphics memory.
* 40 GB of hard drive capacity with 15 GB free space.
* DVD-ROM Drive3.
* Audio output capability.
* Internet access capability.
------------
This is unreasonable? You have to be kidding. The 4 year old PC I sold here on CAG for $200 meets every requirement except for the RAM, it only had 512, but another stick of 512 can be found for $20-$30.
The Dell E512 I bought for $420 on a SlickDeal meets every requirement several times over.
6+ months from now I bet you'd have a hard time finding a PC that couldn't run Vista.

I wish it would come out sooner, I've been holding out on a new rig until it comes out. The only good thing is all my money is going towards games now, which I guess is what really matters.
