Which version firmware do I need to play this game? I'm thinking of picking it up, but don't want to touch it if I need anything above 2.0

2.0 is fine for x-men 2, but you really should downgrade to 1.5 and use MPH loader. You can play 2.0 games and even some 2.5 games.
