A few weeks ago I ordered Outrun Coast to Coast for Xbox off of Walmart.com because the game was impossible to find B&M by me. The game did not come in between the dates that Walmart said it would arrive. So I called Customer Service wondering where my game was. They said wait a couple more days and if it doesn't come they will send out a replacement. I waited, it didn't come. So I called and they sent out the replacement. A few days later I receive the game. And then yesterday I get another package in the mail...and it's the replacement copy. I don't need two copies of Outrun so I went to Walmart B&M and returned one. So I ended up getting the game for free. Ever happen to anyone? Was I wrong to return one of the two copies?

The funny thing is, if you would have tried to explain to the employee at wal-mart what actually happened, they probably would have gotten confused and looked at you funny, then done a return on it anyway.

i would've done the same thing...returning it would've been a bigger hassle than necessary. and it's wal-mart...that place smells.

I ordered a toy for my son this past christmas and they stuck 2 of them in the same box, yet only charged me for one of them. I wonder how many other people this happens to.

It's funny to call me a theif. It was there mistake. I didn't purposly get two sent to me. I was making sure that my first order was coming. They made the mistake of shipping out a replacement. I guess I could have sent it back. You can say I was wrong for returning it but I think most people would do the same. Or would have traded it off.

It's their fault...because of their lousy shipping times you ended up with two.

Plus, Fuck Walmart anyway.

Though, the fact that you asked if you were in the wrong then come back and dismiss those calling you a thief is rather retarded.

I would have returned both of them and bought a 360 game.

Same thing happened to me with EB. I told them I got the other copy and they sent me an envelope to mail it back. No biggie.

I can understand not returning it, but I think having walmart actually give you money back is why you were called a thief.

I'd probably do it too, but I don't think the label thief is exactly wrong.

I personally would have called and had them pay for postage to have it returned, but I can understand why you did it, it was their fault basically for mailing it late (not sure though, it technically could have been UPS or whomever they used to mail the item's fault).

They made the mistake of shipping out a replacement.

Well then next time I hope they just tell you to fuck off instead of trying to rectify the situation and then getting taken advantage of.

Wow calm down there buddy. I guess saying it was wrong to do is fine, by calling me a theif I thought was a bit much. They should be able to track there stuff if they don't want to be taken advantage of. I did ask if i was wrong and if you think I was fine. I was also wondering if it happenend to anyone and what they did in the situation. No need for people to label someone. The right thing was to send it back. And next time that is what I will do.

Sony did this to me once. I went to Target and bought Crash Bandicoot 2 (which was sealed by the way) and it had Spyro in it instead. Target wouldn't take it back, so I had to call Sony, which made me send in the game and they'd send a replacement. 4 weeks later I never got it so I called back and they sent it again, and obviously since I'm replying to this topic I got the replacement and the original. God bless Sony.

It's funny some of you call him a thief.. yet, I doubt any of you would do the morally correct thing.

OP, as far as I see it, a small order of justice has been served because Wal-Mart fucking sucks.:)

Riiiiiight... I know I would just write 'return to sender' on the extra copy and turn it around back to them.

Possibly write 'return to sender-double mailing'.

odds are they already had it filed as a loss anyways and if u returned it an employee would just take it home for free .

I wouldve done what u did easily.

Well if a bank miscounts money and gives you say, an extra $20.00 by mistake, it's there error and you can take it and leave. Same thing here sort of. At the same time, the right thing to do IMO would have been to send the second package back "Return to sender", or return it in store and just explain the mistake.

LOL I had this happen to me too, I ordered a cable box from a magazine ad a long time ago. Well, I got worried when it had passed the 4-8 weeks that they said it was going to take.

And, exactly as happened to the OP, I got the original, then about 3-4 days later, I got the 'replacement'.

Needless to say, the thing I bought was pretty useless anyway. All it was, was a box with a 'fine tuning dial' on it. What a rip off!!

You guys are the biggest bunch of hypocrits. The same people telling you to return the game are the same people who try to price match on ad mistakes, return cheap new games for full price at other stores and print off altered best buy coupons to get 10% off.

You did what I guarantee 99.9% of the people on this site would do.

True, they made the mistake, but the "correct" thing to do is at least to contact them about the mistake and ask what they want you to do (I bet they'd just tell you to keep it). Instead, you returned it for a refund which likely most people would do but that still doesn't mean its right, though obviously, it's not as if you commited grand larceny or anything.

I had a similar instance happen to me, where I ordered a used copy of Phantom Crash from Ebgames as a throw-in for the free shipping and I ended up with seven copies of them (charging me a penny for each extra one). I contacted them, and they just told me to keep them since it wasn't worth the hassle of my returning them and their having to refund me a penny for each of them.

Yeah, you are probably right. A lot of times a company is just happy there is an honest person out there. I was waiting in line at EB games buying a couple games and a person in front of me was trading some games in. After i got up there and made a purchase i got my bag and left. When i got home i realized, not only did the guy give me the games i purchased but also all the games that the guy in front of me traded in. I called the store up, returned them and they gave me a gift card.
