but not sure what there is
i have the following-
daxter
syphon filter
mgs acid
lumines
gta
i need to pick things up on the cheap <$25
id like an rpg and think popolooococoroipolpopoplo will be one.
im also interested in a hack and slash a little but untold legends sounds like it might be subpar.
any suggestions?
i dont mind buying used but i really dont know what to buy and dont want to grab something with ridiculous loadtimes either.

I really didn't like any of the RPGs that have come out in the US... Tales of Eternia is great, but you have to import that from Europe and it's a little on the expensive side...
but have you gotten Ridge Racer or the Mega Man games yet? If not, look into those... they're fantastic.

I found an Amazon listing for Generation Of Chaos new for around $30 shipped so that might be right down your alley.

I have Gripshift, RidgeRacer, and Kingdom of Paradise (a hard but polished action/rpg). I got them all for under $20.

You should see a lot of deep discounting of older titles towards Xmas. There will be a lot of clearance action to make room for the pile of games being assembled for the shopping season and the PSP Greatest Hits lineup should be up to about a dozen titles.

Be patient. The really good discounts on a platform's library, if it hasn't tanked, comes after its first year heading into the holidays.

How's gripshift? Is it any good? I want to pick up a racer for the PSP. I'm leaning towards Ridge Racer, because the last time I played it I thought the graphics looked beautiful. Either that, Gripshift or Burnout.

Gripshift is decent. I actually picked up PINBALL for $15 and it's kinda fun, if you like Pinball. Not too exciting, but fun.
Untold Legends is good also...the first one is fun.

Ridge Racer is the best arcade racer on the PSP that doesn't reward you for killing your opponents. I am looking to replace mine, but I highly suggest getting RR. Gripshift is like....you know the hot wheels sets that loop and go everywhere? Well it is like that, but you won't get laughed at for buying it if you are over 7. I haven't given it my full attention, but what I did play was lots of fun.

I can't believe more people don't recommend this game. It is imo the best game on PSP. It is very addicting and extremely fun. Get it.

Get it.I agree that it's one of the best games on PSP, but I still haven't been able to find it for under $30. I'm going to try and look around for a cheap copy. I rented that game and played it heavily for 2 weeks. I definitely miss it.
And I definitely want to pick up Gripshift. After watching it in that video where it compares it's loading times to WWE's, I have been really interested. I just need to stop by BlockBuster and pick it up.
EDIT- GameStop has it used for $27 or new for $30. I might pick it up. www.gamestop.com/product.asp?product_id=935035&affid=99999&sourceid=qIrARHppo-XWAmk9yX7g&siteid=0040451529 (http://www.gamestop.com/product.asp?product_id=935035&affid=99999&sourceid=qIrARHppo-XWAmk9yX7g&siteid=0040451529)

Is tales of Eternia in english? Since they sell this game at Frys I would love to pick it up if the game is actually played in english. Never really looked at it since I just thought it was a japanese import.
On Topic- I would suggest picking up Gripshift and Infected since both can be bought together for around $25 and they are both tons and tons of fun.
If you have any extra money go pick up Legend of heros. Great old school RPG.

Last I checked GripShift was $12 at overstock.com and Infected was on sale at Circuit City today for $9.99.

I believe Fry's is selling the European version of ToD (meaning it's in english). The european (http://images-eu.amazon.com/images/P/B000BKBHPQ.02.LZZZZZZZ.jpg) and japanese (http://www.mobygames.com/images/covers/large/1122287018-00.jpg) versions of ToD for the PSP have different cover arts, if I recall correctly.

As long as it's the EU version, then it's 100% pure English. The voices blow ass (the first thing I did after hearing them was turn them off), but otherwise, it's a pretty fun game. I wouldn't call it great, but it will keep your attention for the full play time.

And....I said both can be purchased for $25 together.......So with tax makes it about right...12+10=22 and add in tax and thats about $25..
And thanks for telling me about TOE, I might look into getting that game then. Thanks guys.

I am huge Twisted Metal fan so I have to throw it into the ring especially since I have seen it for $15-20 on a regular basis now.
Someone mentioned Pinball above and I have to agree. I believe its onsale at Fry's for $15. Its a great game for when you have time to kill in short intervals. Not something you are going to sit down and play for hours straight, but if you like pinball there is abour 15 tables to choose from going back to the classics...

That is correct. And the European version is entirely in English. There's English voice acting as well, but it can (thankfully) be turned off. There's no good reason to not own TOE.

I just bought Ridge Racer from jPoD here on CAG. I should have it here by the end of this week. I can't wait.
A few questions about Tales of Eternia. Is it a turnbased RPG, or what's the combat system like?

It's Riiiiidddggeee Racer!!! Good choice -- I love that series.
Anyway, ToE is sorta like Super Smash Bros. without the items. You have 4 characters (but you only control one) and it's a realtime fighting system that works like a 2D fighter. You can assign some special moves to your characters and the combat system actually does work well for an RPG. Definitely makes random encounters more entertaining than usual.
