View Full Version : Where are the downloadable demos?
I realize we have the Japanese demo Loco Roco but why isn't Sony making demos readily available to us? I realize there are some UMD demos but why not just make them downloadable over the net?

Not that I have a psp, but I have read up on it. It seems to me, that it has been abandoned. With less movies being released for it and less features being involved in the update, I doubt you'll see many demos up for it.

Why would they abadon it? It would give users a reason to upgrade their PSP, at least try to convince them. Sony is missing the boat on this.....D/L demos are great, look at the 360.
You make it sound like the PSP is going away....forever.
porbably because they dont have any demo ready.

You havent read up on it because if you have you would see that Sony is coming out with eye toy camera, gps, voip, and ps1 emulator.

Just a trick to get you to update to a firmware which is not hackable at the moment.

Sony likes to say what they could/can do .
Trouble is they never get around to doing it .

There is probably an internal conflict over whether they should pursue the Jampack approach or the downloadable approach.
Each has its strong points and Sony should really do both. Jampacks can serve those who don't have a convenient means to get their PSP online and can provide a legit outlet for not only demos but little games that aren't worth commercial release on their own. Given a legal outlet the resistance to firmware updates could lessen.
Downloading helps drive the sale of Memory Sticks and better conveys what the PSP is supposed to be all about in terms of a lifestyle toy.
I'd like to see a lot more legit non-game items for the PSP. A NetStumbler-like tool would be very cool. Such items would get very interesting as add-ons like the Camera, GPS, VOIP, etc. roll out. Failing to give small developers an inexpensive way to offer their products will blunt a lot of the potential here. Sony needs to strike a balance between open development access and the commercial products needed to pull in the big software profits.

No, I'd read up on that, I've been aware of that for a while. However, I have yet to see them in action. In fact, haven't those things been realized for a good 3-4 months already? I could be mistaken. In other words; where are they? Where is the updated news for them?
