ehhhh....it should be ok i guess. Just make sure it has proper air circulation around it and it won't over heat. How far are you in FF8? I mean if you aren't very far in, might as well just turn it off and start over when your memory card arrives.

You will probably be fine...I've left mine on for 3 days and nothing bad happened...

It is just like a computer, it will be fine. Overheating should not be an issue as it should reach its max temperature within the first hour of play anyway so if it is fine now then it will stay fine. The only issue is if the drive keeps spinning, alkthouhg it will be fine it will be a big work out for it and that is not very good.

I know people that never turn theirs off, but they have newer model PS2s and not the slim one.

Should be fine. A former room mate of mine a couple of years ago kept my PSX (got a year after release) on for a couple of weeks because he was playing my copy FF7 and I couldn't find my memory card. So he just kept it on till he bought a used one at Gamestop

You guys are crazy

...but it's good to know the thing should be able to stand up to periods of being left on. My roommate hasn't quite grasped the Hold button down to turn off vs. touch button to reset system yet :)

I have my slim PS2 always plugged in to a UPS next to my PC. It's on standby (red light) when it's not in use, and it stays cool at room temperature.

However, leaving it on (green light) is a different story. Never actually tried it though.

So... how's it doing?

I would think the system would hold up fine, but wouldn't you be scared to play the game at all. If your 10 hours into the game, then boom you die, game over. Start from the beginning.

when gta3 first came out, we left the ps2 in my dorm on for a long time (at least five days)... the interesting thing is that gta3 started to glitch out (i.e. we could slide cars, if we flipped them over while driving, into places that were locked off and access parts of the game that we hadn't unlocked yet)

but as far as the system itself being damaged, we didn't notice any...

I woke up this morning to notice that I did the same thing. Make sure that turning off the PS2 isnt the very last thing you do before you fall into bed and pass out! I left Fire Pro running all night! lol

btw, I did this routinely during the NES days. If not for pausing the game and leaving my system on all night I would never have beaten Rygar!
