This is why all the companies should focus on making consoles for GAMING. Practically everyone has some kind of computer that can do whatever they want with. I'm not really excited about Nintendo's motion sensor controller but it least it has a function related to gaming and that is a step in the right direction.

You can get wired routers for free after rebate or damn close to it if you want. But I see your point. You might need to have a table or desk near the PS3 if you want something to put a keyboard or mouse on, surfing the internet with a Playstation controller would be a pain in the ass I think.

If the PS3 is replacing the PC I predict the PS4 will replace the commode. The methane provided by the user will make the need for electricity useless. Just pass gas, light a match, and the PS4 will run for days before needing to be "re-fueled". The disc laser also doubles as a laser bidet for those moments when TP won't cut it.

Pc gamers have been playing FPS since Wolfenstein, Doom, Duke Nukem, and Quake 1. And so have I.

I've played Mace Griffen, Timesplitters, and Killzone on the PS2.

Geist, Timesplitters FP, and Metroid 1 and 2 on the Cube.

And of course Halo 1 and 2, and Project Snowblind on the Xbox.

So I've been playing them for a while and not just on the PC. I of couse played Perfect Dark, Turok, and Goldeneye on the 64 as well. Just Turok 1. Couldn't stand it after that.

I played both MPs, and while there was quite a bit of seeking out Samus' various upgrades, there was a hell of a lot of shooting.

Pretty much what Chacrana said, the exploration and platforming aspects of the game are more of a focus than the shooting. Prime is basically a 3D first person version of previous Metroid games, which weren't shooters. Even though shooting was a large part of the game, they were considered action/adventure games, thus Prime is an FPA game, not an FPS.

As for the PC thing, he's only talking about entertainment-wise, not business or IT functionality. Of course, nobody cares about thinking rationally with Sony, the whole Genji 2 thing is proof enough.

This whole thing is about taxes. There's a European trade dealie that gives computers a benificial tax status, and consoles don't qualify. Sony tried to have the PS2 classified as a computer, and IICR, they've been trying since the PS1.

IMO, the only way they could make it qualify is for the PS3 to be able to run Linux right out of the box, with no add-ons like the PS2.
