I don't think he was downloading it at the school, as it said:

Last month a 14-year old boy in Bismark, North Dakota got caught bringing porn into school on his PSP. The local authorities decided to make an example of the boy and charged him with a felony.
Then again, it's supposed to be a shocking news story so we may never know what really happened.

Jeff had used his PSP to tap into the school's wireless internet connection. And once he was on the net it was just a few seconds before he ended up on a pornographic web site. He says he learned how to do it from other kids who use their PSP's do the same thing at school.

So not only was he looking at porn, he tapped into the school's wi-fi connection. OMGWTF 43'5 t3h l33t h4x0r!1!!

I refuse to believe this is true. I've never known a 14 year old that wanted to look at naked women. If anything, videogames MADE him look at it.

Just about every school nowadays in any reasonably sized city has a wireless network for teacher computers and laptops.

At my old high school they had every computer running on the wired network but they had a wireless network. I'm pretty sure it was just so the tech guy could use the wifi on his laptop, since we couldn't bring anything electronic to school (that rule didn't stop me thought, I brought everything from my DS to my laptop to school at one point or another).

I've only been out of high school for two years and I don't think a wireless network is needed for any school unless they have the money to spend to give the teachers laptops. I'd think any school would have a wired network, but wireless? The school was asking for it by not securing their network like they should have.

My high school barely had a wired connection going, let alone wireless.

I'm surprised the kids getting a felony charge, it's not like he set fire to the school.

I've seen kids damn near kill themselves and barely get suspended.

I think we're blaming the stupid school for not securing their network while the media is blaming the PSP for being able to connect to the internet where..gasp!... there's porn.
