So, after the Circuit City $9.95 sale, I took a copy of DQ8 to EB the see what the trade in value was. The guy working the counter tells me that they're not allowed to take that game in anymore. I was like, OK, whatever man, SO I talk to the manager there today who I've known for a long time tells me that they will take it but he tells all his employees to turn people down. The reason? He told me that about 6 months ago a guy was trading in copies of the DQ8 DEMO for full store credit. The guy supposedly took the demos from another store, printed out case inserts, threw the demos in a DVD case, and traded them in for like $25 each. The guy got away with like $4000 in store credit. All that I have to say is....

I say it's justice. That's what they get for taking in games in any condition, with/without cases or manuals, case art drawn in crayon on dotted line first grade paper, with a bite taken out of the disc, with the kids name written on it in Sharpe in momma's handwriting.
Normally I'd say trading in like that is wrong, but they deserve it. I hope the guy got some good stuff.

I remember being in an EB near my old apartment in NYC and watching as the clerk realized that the 2 dozen games he had just accepted in trade were all demos in cases with printed artwork. He was definitely sweating bullets.

Down here whenever you trade shit in at EB they take your driver's license info so even if you get away with that initially, I'd think they'd have a way to reclaim their money. Still, very ballsy idea. Surprised he got away with it. Trading a shitload of copies of one game would be suspicious, you'd think.

Forgot to mention... The games weren't traded all at once, rather one every couple of days at several stores. The guy was never caught either, they had no proof that he did anything wrong and didn't catch on until much later when the games he traded started being returned to stores.

Wouldn't they easily be able to find him when he uses the credit? I highly doubt many people have $4000 in credit there...But I guess they might not be able to prove anything, but if I was working there and I saw some guy have $3,--- credit left I'd sorta freeze and be like wtfhax

Ah, nothing makes the sun shine shinier than abusing a silly procedure! Snaps for that guy.

Well, he could always just use the credit in-store immediately after the trade-in.
Didn't they take his DL info or something when he traded in?
