Incidentally, if you go, consider their "5 for $30" deal, which gets you 5 ticket vouchers for $6 apiece. They can be used in any combination (so if you go with four friends, you could all get in at a matinee price) and are good for at least a couple months. The only caveat is that they can't be used Friday or Saturday night. It's a good deal.

Also, the Big KMart on 120 @ Johnson Ferry in Marietta is having a Remodeling Sale. Basically an all-store clearance. 40% off all games. There are some decent titles left, but they all seem to be stickered at list price, so you do the math.

The things that caught my eye were a single copy of Scarface for Wii, and a couple of Portraits of Ruin, but I didn't have time to get someone to check prices for me last night-- they are locked up in a glass case.

Also, the price doesn't come up automatically and the checkout girl knew nothing of it although an electronics person had told me about it. When I told the girl about it, she called a manager who confirmed it and overrode the standard price.

I was at the BB on Pleasant Hill and the games section guy knew nothing of it, but there were stickers on most of their PS3 launch games and a smaller amount of 360 games including COD2 and not COD3 of which they only had gold ed.

Also, there are big gaps in the Xbox and PS2 sections that weren't there Friday, and bigger than the small number of red dot games in those sections would fill. Anyone know what's going on with that?

There was no price sticker on tales nor a price divider. It's not listed on the site. What would the price be?

I saw one Tales at the K-Mart in Marietta on Hwy 41 (right near the Arbys/Popeyes) yesterday. Didn't get it price scanned as it was behind the glass but since people are reporting it being on clearance in the K-Mart thread, figure someone here might want to look into it.

Also saw and bought Futurama Vol 4 and WWE Ladder Matches at the Walmart across the street for 19.99 each.

That's a huge bummer. If it was in good condition, you could have doubled or tripled your investment. However, it's likely that it wouldn't have even been there if it was in good condition, so at least you don't have to feel too bad.

I wonder if one of those CD/DVD polishing/cleaning/resurfacing things would bring this back to life. Probably a dangerous game to play, given that it could work for part of the disc but still crash well into the game.

What are people doing with these discs to fuck them up so badly?

Yeah, probably not worth it. $16 would be too high for me for that risk, even if it's BG: DA2. I mean, I would probably buy it in order to sell it for a profit, but I'm sure the buyer would be none too pleased with its condition. I hear those resurfacing things work well though. I just don't know what kind of shape the disc should be in to begin with.

We went to that last show on Thursday. Loved it!

Three questions (one with spoilers):

1) So has it been confirmed that Mitchell has again overtaken Wiebe since the film was released? Live or via video tape?

2) Who the Hell is the Rickey of Rickey's Hot Sauce (Billy Mitchell's hot sauce). Never says in the movie and it's not listed on their FAQ.

3) Doesn't it seem foolhardy to be producing a dramatized version of this story? The whole allure is the "Oh my God, I can't believe these are grown men and they are behaving this way" factor (except for Wiebe). That and the real life personalities are just so out there. Seems like trying to replicate that with actors would be ridiculous.

That's crazy. I guess Reggie wasn't blowing smoke when he said there will be shortages this Christmas as well. You know it's only going to get worse as Mario Galaxy, Guitar Hero III, and Smash Bros. come out and we get closer to Christmas.

Dragon Quest 8 13.98 (only had one copy)

Then they had a whole new isle set up with price point games. Everything seemed to be priced as it should be, except I saw Xenosaga 2 for 9.99 and Star Wars Ep 3 (PS2) for 14.99 which i think might be a little cheaper than elsewhere.

Also Cumberland mall has an FYE that's got all their games and accessories at 50% off. Ofcourse it's FYE to it's mostly overpriced anyway (I saw Metroid Prime 2 "on sale" for 39.99). I saw DMC3 special edition used for 14 (before the 50%). Other than that a lot of xbox stuff (lots of faceplates, saw a camera in there, too), some ps2 and gc, and some psp (including UMDs), ds and gba scraps. I nabbed the last copy of Mario Kart DS which ended up being $18. Good luck if you go. It's a mess in there.

Ha, when I called the FYE at Gwinnett Place, they said that all FYEs in the area that were dropping games were shipping off their stock to other stores instead of liquidating. Why am I not surprised he was wrong?

The guy goes to take them both, but I asked if he could do volume 1 first and if it looks good, then he can do the others. He comes back out after a few minutes and asks if I'd like a couple free dvds. The game was in pieces. Just... completely shattered. "I dunno what happened..." he tells me. :bomb:

Next time I go out there to visit I'm going to bring along some crappy game I don't care about to test it first. And if it works without busting the gamedisc, then I'll have them a couple used games that need some fixing up.

Tybee, I'm as confounded as you. It takes just about zero effort to keep a disc perfect. Dad was always into new technology. Before laserdiscs, we had those rca videodiscs. Even though the disc itself was never exposed, we were still taught to handle the media carefully.

What does it take for someone to take a cd or dvd out of a jewel case? Thumb on outer edge of disc, middle finger pushes down on center spindle thingy, disc pops out. Hold the disc on out and inner edges, never touching data. Place disc in tray or feeder. Where in this equation does the disc get scratched?

I went on Sunday, and got PGR 4 and 2 copies of Orange Box (1 for a friend). Unfortunately, the Tucker TRU had PGR 4 and no Orange Boxes, and the Lenox one had Orange Boxes but no PGR 4, so I had to go to both and do an exchange. It was annoying but it worked. Anyway, we got the last 2 Orange Boxes, so I doubt Lenox has any OBs left. I would recommend calling around, because even on Sunday it felt like the pickins were slim. Theres always online as an option too.

What does it take for someone to take a cd or dvd out of a jewel case? Thumb on outer edge of disc, middle finger pushes down on center spindle thingy, disc pops out. Hold the disc on out and inner edges, never touching data. Place disc in tray or feeder. Where in this equation does the disc get scratched?non-uniform cases. Oh sure it's easy when you can just press in the middle. But I have cases mostly cheap DVDs now that I think about it. Which are not designed to be pressed in the middle. I find it rather annoying because you have to pry from the sides.

Either which way I've seen the way some of my friends treat CDs both music and gaming. It makes me shudder. I used to just put the disc in their cases when I was bored because I couldn't stand to see any game even Madden ## just lying around naked.

I went on Sunday, and got PGR 4 and 2 copies of Orange Box (1 for a friend). Unfortunately, the Tucker TRU had PGR 4 and no Orange Boxes, and the Lenox one had Orange Boxes but no PGR 4, so I had to go to both and do an exchange. It was annoying but it worked. Anyway, we got the last 2 Orange Boxes, so I doubt Lenox has any OBs left. I would recommend calling around, because even on Sunday it felt like the pickins were slim. Theres always online as an option too.

There's a plastic crate just before the video game section at the Edgewood BB that has a bunch of 9.99 games. Not great, mind you, but cheap. Heatseeker for the Wii, Smackdown vs. Raw 2007 for 360, a couple of poker games for the 360, and some PSP and DS titles that I didn't really pay attention to.
There are also a number of PS2, XBox, and Cube games for 9.99 in the register area. Nothing very exciting apart from MGS3, but you already have that, right?

If anyone cares at this point, Fry's in Alpharetta has a shit-ton (yes, that's a technical term) of Wiis. Like maybe 50 or more. But as always with Fry's and high demand systems, they want to bundle it. The good news...it's a small good bundle. $300 for the Wii, the Wiimote charger which CheapyD raved about, and an extra nunchuk (I don't get it either), but overall, if you need a Wii for Christmas or now, that seems good to me.

Also Cumberland mall has an FYE that's got all their games and accessories at 50% off. Ofcourse it's FYE to it's mostly overpriced anyway (I saw Metroid Prime 2 "on sale" for 39.99). I saw DMC3 special edition used for 14 (before the 50%). Other than that a lot of xbox stuff (lots of faceplates, saw a camera in there, too), some ps2 and gc, and some psp (including UMDs), ds and gba scraps. I nabbed the last copy of Mario Kart DS which ended up being $18. Good luck if you go. It's a mess in there.

Picked up the Metroid Prime 2 that was there. It rang up as 24.99. I guess it was in the system at the regular price, but they were happy to change it to 19.99 since there was a 39.99 tag. Not super cheap like when I kept passing on it @ 10 at Blockbuster and other stores cause I didn't have the cash and then no Targets around me had it when they clearanced it and I did have cash. Now it's usually 40 on ebay and impossible to find new. I found it once for 20 before I saw the ebay prices, but that KMart closed before I could get back. Thanks for the heads up. Guy working the counter said it would get shipped out at the end of the week. Mostly junk left especially for the handhelds.

I noticed the same thing about okami and several other "clearance" games at TRU, but when I tried to return okami the first time it rang up $19.99, then when I tried to buy it back it rang up $39.99.

So the Target in Buckhead has dropped the clearence prices for the games that were previously 13.98 down to 9.98. They had one copy of metroid pinball, Legend of Zelda 4 swords was in the glassed gamecube section that I would imagine has dropped as well. Gun for the gamecube, a couple of psp games, some ps2, and xbox/xbox 360. Didn't see anything really worth it but thought it would be nice to know.

Most of the personnel get that when you're facing a gun you don't argue, you give 'em what they want and let them just leave. This was an armed robbery, Cherry did everything right by the accounts I've been privy to, and he's dead.

Cuz some sleazebag who was too freakin lazy to work for what ever it is he wanted, too friggen self absorbed to do without whatever he wanted, too much of a leach on the system to be a productive member of society. So he does it his way and hits up an easy target. What gives this guy the right to take ANYTHING that isn't his. Dear God, he goes and takes a life! There's so much about this I want to scream out about this, and what's it going to change?

The times I've been in there, Matt's always been a sweet guy. But crap, he could be a louse and that doesn't matter, you don't-

I was at Six Feet Under with a bunch of friends on Friday after doing the night tour of Oakland Cemetery they were having for Halloween. We were waiting to be seated and I noticed the bar had this campaign going where you could donate to the cemetery in exchange for a piece of paper with a tombstone on it that you could decorate and they would hang it on the wall. To her credit she was very apologetic and encouraged me to come back with my receipt later on and if they had any she'd give me one, but seems unlikely that they would get more. Also tried to use the Babies R Us coupon, but the video game department manager, her trainee, and the two older women who were acting as runners getting the games out of the back (may have been managers) all had a conference and decided they wouldn't accept it.

Hmmm...Maybe I'll try taking my receipt around to other TRUs and seeing if I can score a coin myself. Just seemed like they'd be reluctant given that anyone could say, "Oh, I didn't get a coin." when they actually did. There's no way to tell.

And yes, the game is AMAZING. Did three of the Good Egg galaxies and the first Bee galaxy before hitting the sack. Even the wife thought it was beautiful and fun to watch. She liked the coop aspect, though I don't expect she'll hop in very often.

They've had a big display case up in the store for a few weeks now loaded with new games, systems and accessories. It doesn't look like it will be partitioned off separately like most GC stores but I'll take what I can get. There isn't any signage up yet but hopefully it will show up soon. Finally, an alternative to Gamestop. Sorry, Blockbuster/GameRush, you gave up last year.

Yeah, the last time I was in the store I only saw a handful of things that I was really interested in like D&D Heroes for Xbox and Apex and some DVDs like The Lone Gunmen complete series, but it would have to drop pretty low since you had to buy sets per disc. I figure TLG will be easy to snag cheap eventually.

I was just at the Northlake BB and they have have a big black cardboard box near the front of the store (not in the games area) with several copies each of Spiderman 3 (bleh), Pirates of the Carribbean (meh), and Sega Rally Revo (hmm). Hey, didn't SSR just come out a month or two ago? Anyway, all three are 9.99 along with a bunch of PS2 and PSP games.

Yeah, the last time I was in the store I only saw a handful of things that I was really interested in like D&D Heroes for Xbox and Apex and some DVDs like The Lone Gunmen complete series, but it would have to drop pretty low since you had to buy sets per disc. I figure TLG will be easy to snag cheap eventually.

I got a Wii on Black Friday for my dad at the Gamestop in Edgewood. There wasn't a line or anything, and I wandered in about 8am, an hour after they opened.

I would think you'd have a better shot there than at Best Buy.

SRR 10!!!!!!!!! Guess I know where I'm going on my break tonight. You sure SRR wasn't just dropped in there on accident or by a customer? Was it individually marked 9.99? Crossing my fingers there's a copy left. The demo was pretty good, but I'm a big rally fan and the reviews said this was like a next generation Sega Rally 2 which is a really good thing.

Yes, they were 360 games and there were 3 left of SRR with little yellow Best Buy price tag stickers on 'em. That was at around 7:30pm last night. Sorry for the late reply!

Thanks Wiggly. SRR shipped October 9th and I really wanted it at MSRP so this was an amazing pick up.

Also saw Spiderman 3 360, DDR Universe, Pirates 360, Stuntman Ignition PS2, Flatout 2 PS2, NBA 08 The Life PS2 and AllPro Football PS3 for 10. Also had Guitar Hero 2 with guitar for 60, Halo Legendary Ed for 80, and the Halo Wireless headset for 46.

One at each, actually. I bought it at Edgewood a week or so ago for, I believe, 27.98. I found it last night at Buckhead for 24.98, and was going to return the first one. Should I hold onto it for you?

Funny follow-up, I have to pass right by the Stone Mountain store on my way home, so I figured I'd drop in there to see if they had any clearanced games. They absolutely did......................at 50% off......................the ORIGINAL price!!

They were selling Pirates 360 for 50% off of $59.99.

Amazing how 2 Best Buy stores about 12 miles apart can have such HUGE differences in clearance prices. Oh well, I'm extremely happy with my purchases. Heck, even if I hate SRR, I'm sure Gamestop will give me more in trade-in that what I paid for it!

To clarify, I bought the last copy at the Buckhead store. It was actually still in the glass case.

Yeah, I checked Edgewood, Buckhead, Druid Hills, and Northlake. Edgewood and Buckhead were out. Druid Hills had 2 copies, but they were marked with a red sticker at $34.95 and they were in the case still. Northlake had only one (as far as I could tell) and it was in the back of a stack of other games on the back endcap of the game section. Just to the left if you're facing the PS2 games, across from the TV's.
It might be worth checking the Druid Hills location on Sunday. Maybe they'll drop the price again if it doesn't get sold at $35.

Holy crap...I can't believe Pitt actually beat West Virginia. And Oklahoma dominated Mizzou. But I still don't think Georgia will go to the national championship. Everyone seems to be saying LSU will get a big bump ahead of them, and I that's probably fair. Still, would have been nice if Tennessee could have beaten LSU. That probably would have put us in. Stupid creamsicles. But when the worst case scenario for Georgia is the Rose Bowl, it's hard to feel down. ;)

$450, same as everywhere else. The Premium is $350, but I think they are still selling refurbs for around $230.

HEAT, Shawshank, Robocop, Seven, Memento, Serenity, The Right Stuff, Enter the Dragon, The Color Purple, Ghandi, Strangelove, the 3disc Black Hawk Down, Dark Crystal, Boyz n Da Hood, Raging Bull, Taxi Driver.

Pretty much all great.
