Well frankly I am as confused about this sale as everyone else here... if someone could (that is in the know) please make a list of the games and their corresponding days that would be awesome. Having said that apparantly today is only battalion wars and odama is next week. Hopefully this thread: http://www.redflagdeals.com/forums/showthread.php?t=301179 can help someone else out as well. (PS RFD is a great site for canadian deals for those who don't already know)

I just saw the list at my local EB and it appeared all of the games will have at least 2 days that they'll be on sale. This sale will be going on for 40 days, each with two different games. Because the list was so long I couldn't memorize any dates but I do remember some of the more memorable titles so I'll list them here and people can feel free to post any I missed (which is plenty I'm sure).

Mario Tennis (GBA)
DK King of Swing (GBA)
City of Villains (PC)
Odama (GC)
Battallion Wars (GC)
Metroid Pinball (DS)
Ape Escape 3 (PS2)
Rainbow Six 3 (XB & PS2)
DK Jungle Beat (GC)
Donkey Konga 2 (GC) -> both games WITHOUT drums according to the manager

According to the guy at my local EB, tommorow's game is Jak X: Combat Racing for PS2. He also said they're only doing about one copy of each game at that price on each day, and also said that the sale only applies if they have a lot of stock of the game sitting around. If they only have a few copies, they can choose not to do the sale for that day. Having said all that, I'm not entirely sure if this really only applies to the one I went to or all of the stores since the one I went to isn't in the best location.

EDIT: Someone on redflagdeals.com is saying that tommorow's game is Getaway: Black Sunday. The manager at the store I went to only mentioned Jak X, but it could be both of them I guess. The thread in question was linked earlier in this thread here.

As I mentioned in my earlier post, I saw the entire list today and now that Jak X Combat Racing has been mentioned, it rings a major bell that it is on sale tomorrow. I can also confirm that there are indeed 2 games listed for each day. That said, I got the last Battalion Wars in the store today, so when it comes back up it obviously won't be available. I'd advise hitting up the first half of the sale due to the fact a lot of the games were on the list twice.

Check out Metrotown Centre, Pacific Centre, Oakridge Mall, Brentwood Town Centre, and a few other locations. Metrotown would be easiest to find because it has its own skytrain station called "Metrotown." Easy to get to from anywhere.

When I got Odama, the box that the game and mic come in was on display and empty, meaning that they opened the box. The game case, though, was still factory sealed, and was in the back room along with the mic.

I'm like you, I hate EB for opening games to put them on display. For 10 bucks though, I might make an exception. Odama was easier to except because of the intact factory sealing.

Well, I just saw a few Odama and Battalion Wars on the shelf. It was the big Odama boxes. If Odama is anything like Zelda: Four Swords, there should be a DVD-casing inside along with the mic. I'm hoping EB doesn't also break that seeing as it's not even on display...

GameDeals, which EB did you check? The Metrotown one had a "Game of the Day" sign with the game of the day put under it. Although it was just Pariah, not Ape Escape Academy.

That must be a west coast thing. Here in Toronto, I went to EB on my lunch and Battalion Wars was already sold out, and my buddy and I bought the last 2 copies of Odama.

Guy at the cash said that people have been "making the rounds". Methinks this sale is far more exploited here.

I plan to pick up 1-2 copies of Metroid Pinball, and as many copies of Donkey Konga w/Bongos as I can. The other games I'm not really concerned about, except maybe another Batallion Wars when that day rolls around again. My morning route lets me hit either Metrotown, Brentwood, Oakridge, or Queensborough, but not more than 1-2 of them. Best thing to do is call them the day before and see how many they have, then get there as soon as they open.

Most of the EB's I went to had a number of copies of Jungle Beat, but I doubt they have many (if any) Donkey Konga's left. Anyways, there weren't any displays/boxes in the ones I went to.

I just gave the oakridge eb a call, turns out its probably only for the game, bongos not included, well thats what the manager said at least. Gonna try the other locations, i'll let you know what i find out.

Edit: nm I just gave the metrotown one a call and the staff person said it DOES come with bongos, but still i wish they would be more clear throughout all the locations, its really annoying when one person tells you something and another denies it

so i went to eb today to pick up metroid pinball.

was pretty early in the day, and they hadn't put it up on the display. asked the guy what the game of the day was to comfirm it was the proper day. the guy failed to mention pinball was the game. i saw two on the wall.

went to the other eb, luckily it was only a 2 blocks away. they didn't have any in stock, but the guy told me pinball was the game of the day. went back to the other eb. but the guy had already taken them off the wall. asked him about it, and he sold me one. although i think he sold me a used copy, in the full price display case they have. but whatever, i'm not selling it, i'm using it.

so if u see it on the wall. just grab it! and if i were staff at eb, i would want them too. 10$ for metroid pinball is a steal. so i forgive you.

edit: i think its used, but the high scores are all default.

It's not used. EB just sucks. I hate how they stick those horrible price tags directly on the case. It's hard as hell to take off. I just phoned Oakridge, they have 4 copies of Metroid Prime Pinball. I need to get it, but I need to do my exam. I'll probably rush there afterwards or get a friend to go for me... However, he wants the game too x_x

Ramman77
06-26-2006, 07:26 PM
There is a fair possibility it's used. I've heard stories of people buying "new" games from EB and getting saved files on them already.

Personally, before this deal, the last time I shopped at EB was like 3 years ago. I bought a "new" copy of Paper Mario for N64, and when I got home it had a saved file on it and the manual/game obviously look "used".

Even disc games sometimes are screwed up. Some EB stores allow employees to sign games out and borrow them, then they return them and sell them as gutted "new" copies. They even sometimes re-seal them with the wrapping machine they have in the back room. Other times you have clumsy employees that scratch up the disc just by taking them out of the crap sleeve they keep in their drawers.

Spinoff360
06-26-2006, 07:51 PM
Never had a problem with getting a used game they were claiming to be new from them. Occasionally you will get their last copy of a game which has the case on display so you will get the sticker on that.

I have heard that EB reseal in the US a lot though so it is possible that some locations in Canada do it as well. But really it is stupid for them to do it. If they sell a used copy claiming it is new then the company that made the game would get the money or could sue them if they didn't and found out. While when they sell used games EB get all the money from that.

-------------

Anyway, glad I checked this forum. Knew they had all the 2 for $20, $30 etc. sales but wasn't aware of this sale. One location I called was clueless about the sale so I called another location but they were sold out. Decided to call back to the first location to see if they still had the game and then if they did was going to get them to hold it and then when I went to pick it up call the other location to confirm the sale. But the person must have talked to a manager or something because they knew what I was talking about the second time and I think they still have Metroid Prime Pinball so they are holding a copy. But the person I was talking to really didn't sound so sure what game it was and was all confused so who knows what I might end up getting

-------------

Was lookin through the list and does anybody know if the Pariah for $0.01 on PC is a deal you get if you buy any other PC game like the Xbox version was?

Well now I remember why I dislike EB so much, besides their rip off prices, gutted games, used games, ripoff trade-ins etc. Anyways, today I went to grab metroid prime pinball from Oakridge, turns out that even though I told them to hold a copy for me, they didn't, so when I got there, low and behold, they were sold out. Lets just say I wasn't exactly ecstatic. However, the guy I was talking to wasn't the one I had spoken to on the phone, so I didn't bother getting pissed off. However, after the $9.89 sale is over, I will never go to EB again and that is a promise.

No offense, but I hate people asking employees to hold games for them.

I'm pretty sure you wouldn't want other people asking them to reserve a copy a month, a week, or even a few days ahead of time...if people can't be bothered to go there first thing in the morning, then they shouldn't be guaranteed a copy. If they can't make it, switch their schedules around or ask someone else to pick it up. If none of those work, tough.

I thought employees weren't supposed to reserve copies anyways?

IMO, it should be first-come, first-serve, limited to one copy per customer.

PS. I also hate people that buy more than one copy for the purpose of re-selling on Ebay or trading it in for more money.

Asking them to hold a game is available to everyone. Besides, sometimes people are busy with work (me for example) and the place doesn't open early enough and they have limited stock. Its not like I'm cheating someone out of a copy by planning ahead. Employees probably reserve at their own discretion, regardless of store policy. I agree with your limited to one copy per customer. First come, first serve is a bit........hmm i can't put my finger on the word. However, in this day and age, people usually pre-order and hold games, so that they are able to get them, even if they're preoccupied. Well those are my thoughts at least. In response to the last part of your comment, some people run gaming stores, and this is how they do it, by finding great deals and then selling them at a higher price. Thats the business world for you. Of course you're entitled to your opinion, and this is mine. If you have anything to say, feel free.

Ramman77
06-27-2006, 04:58 AM
I understand that people have jobs and school, but there are ways around that. I personally exchanged my shift with a coworker so I can hit the stores as early as possible on sale date. With the limited amount of copies, I personally find it unfair for someone to be guaranteed a copy while others dedicate themselves running around different stores to find a copy. Also, what happens when people ask employees to hold games, but end up not showing up?

As for the last point about people buying copies to resell, there is usually nothing wrong with it. However, in this instance, where there are so few copies, it really ruins it for everyone that want to try the game and have their own copy when someone goes and buys out all 5 of the games that are left. It's fine with me if people want to buy 2, or maybe 3 copies for their friends/family, but when someone tries to buy out as much as they can to resell it, it ruins it for everyone else.

Well anyways, like you said, we each have different opinions on the issue. Glad you agree with the limited copies per customer deal though. ;)

Spinoff360
06-27-2006, 01:26 PM
If they were letting people go in when the deal started and pre-order a copy for every day then it would be one thing but they are only letting people call on the day of the sale to hold on to a copy. Most people will not have ways to get out of having to be at work or something that might keep them from getting it. While like maigoyume said everybody can call a store to hold a copy. So I would say calling to hold it is a lot more fair. And the way I see it with how much money I spend at EB since I buy pretty much all my games their I deserve to get a good deal over somebody who never shops their and is only going to go their to try to get a cheap game and then go back to shopping somewhere else.

I am going to call first thing in the morning for every game I want since I wouldn't be able to go until the night. Last night when I first found out about this I had them hold Metroid Prime Pinball and when I got to the store they still had two copies anyway. Then they still had Resurrection of Evil sitting their which they let me get as well. They are only supposed to be allowing you to get one of the two GOTD choices with a one copy limit. Which doesn't sound like most stores are enforcing the one copy per game limit which is probably why I was able to go at night and still get both games yesterday while other stores are selling out early. So I do agree that stores should be enforcing the one copy limit. But I am glad they will allow you to get both deals of the day even though they are not supposed to. Missed Battalion Wars and Odama the first time so I would have to get both on the same day now.

Anyway, these are my plans and already purchased. Some of the games are not the greatest but I collect so for the price they are good enough ;)

June 26: Metroid Prime Pinball (DS); Doom 3: Resurrection of Evil (PC)
June 28: Bet on Soldier (PC)
June 29: Battallion Wars (Gamecube); Odama (Gamecube)
June 30: Pariah (PC - $0.01) (Maybe. You probably need to buy another game to get it for that price so I would likely pass unless I decide to get Titan's Quest.)
July 1: Conflict Global Terror (PC)
July 4: Freedom Force vs The 3rd Reich (PC)
July 5: Donkey Konga (Gamecube)
July 8: The Matrix: Path of Neo (PC) (I could probably get it on the 28th but if they enforce the rule about only one of the GOTD choices then I will get it on this day.)
July 10: Total Overdose (PC)
July 14: 50 Cent Bulletproof (Xbox)
July 15: Neopets Petpet Adventures: The Wand of Wishing (PSP)
July 18: Cold War (PC - $7.97)

I just went EARLY today to get odama and battalion wars, saw some guy there, he bought like 4 copies of odama (i saw at least 2 in his bag) just as i entered. Forgot to ask if he was a CAGer, well anyways I asked the eb employee and apparently they don't hold games for promotional offers. Maybe other locations do, not sure. But oakridge does not.

So anybody get Odama/Battalion Wars today?

I went at 10 when my mall opened up this morning and picked up a copy each of Odama/Battalion Wars. I got both games sealed (well, Odama didn't have the plastic thing, but no ugly stickers on the box).

To help you guys better your chance of picking up a copy of each of the games, here's the stock from the EB's around my area:

Metropolis at Metrotown:
- Battalion Wars: 5 copies
- Odama: 12+

Brentwood Mall:
- BW: 4
- Odama: 9

Lougheed Mall:
- BW: 3
- Odama: 10+

Coquitlam Centre:
- BW: 4
- Odama: 10+

So, as you can see, while there are limited copies of Battalion Wars, there's a crapload of Odama. I wouldn't be surprised if you walked in 10 minutes before EB closes and they still have copies of the game. Thus, everyone who wants a copy should be able to get one. ;) (...unless you have stupid people that buy multiple copies)

An interesting note, some employees actually stick to the one game per customer rule, which means you can only choose either Odama or Battalion Wars. I prefer this since although you'd have to go to 2 different EB's to get both games, it helps prevent jackasses. (eg. picking up all 4 Battalion Wars in Coquitlam Centre). The one I talked to in Coquitlam Centre definitely stick to this policy, so don't go there if you plan to pick up both games.

And ya, about the guy that bought 4 copies of Odama, that's total BS. The only saving grace for the rest of the people is that they have so many copies.

Malls close at 9:00, so it should be no problem~ You will definitely get Odama for sure.

Did you guys get the gutted copies or the sealed copies?

When I phoned they told me they had 4 new copies of Battalion Wars, and the girl working there was nice enough to quickly check how many copies were sealed.

This is important for me, since I would not have bought the games if they weren't sealed. (For many reasons ;))

The guy that sold me the games today in store was also nice enough to grab a copy of Odama from the back (as opposed to a gutted display box). It didn't have the price sticker, which made me happy since removing those w/o leaving sticky residue is a pain in the ass. I'm not gonna get it though since I have to work 9:00-3:00 tomorrow (doubt they'll still have copies left at 3), and I read some reviews that said Pariah is nothing special. Plus, there's always the cheap (and illegal) BT ...

Same I picked up both as well! Mine are both new, but my odama box had a sticker, but it doesn't matter much to me. The way I check to see if a game is new, is I smell the instruction booklet. I bought Viewtiful Joe awhile back apparently "new" and I'm pretty sure its used now...

I love Odama though, I beat the first 3 missions in about 10 times total. It's really not as hard as people say...

Heh I arrived at my mall around the same time as well (opens at 10:00)...I think I was the first person in the store today :D...

The clear sticker you have to take off in order to open the box and take out the stuff inside.
Oh that one, I usually don't mind those. I normally just slice it in half to get it open.

Darn. Was going to tell my friends about it. I realized a few of them would like Battalion Wars. I didn't pick up Odama, doesn't interest me =/ I don't like those Mic-based games. The disc for BW is in good condition, box is good, but one of the inserts (the Nintendo Power one) is bent on the side =/ Oh well, $10. Hate the sticker on the front and back though. They're impossible to get off without leaving that sticky crap.

Picked them both up, XD.
Odama
Battalion

I phone Eb the day before and ask them to hold it. They do.
I walk in at 6pm to buy them both XD

Already picked up Metroid pinball like that too.

july 4th, I'll phone and ask them to hold Donkey konga too. Buying $200 worth of games for $40 only!!!!!!!!!

Thinking if i should pick up Viewtiful Joe too.

Ya I'm also not in to mic-based games...but Odama is just really cool. It's a good difficulty, fairly fast levels so its not overly frustrating if you lose, and its awesome in the first boss level especially when you get four sets of flippers and just annihilate the towers and castles that big ogre is on.

It was only for one day...I wouldn't have picked up either, but 10 bucks for a game is so cheap in Canada I couldn't resist. You can't even buy an old used game for 10 bucks out here. Cheapest new game is around 25-30 bucks. Although I wish games like Beyond good and Evil, Star Fox adventures, and MP 1&2 were on there. Right now those are the top 4 games I'd really love to play...and never got to.

A penny and you didn't have to buy anything? I'm just curious where the first person heard about this entire deal thing. I asked them if they had any deals to their face to see what they'd say and they had some crap deal for used games or something. I had to specifically ask them then they told me...and it seems like noone where I live knew about the deal at all...

Oh and for the post above that beat me, 12$ for a new copy?! I downloaded it on my computer but I don't want to play any further because it seems like such an awesome game...and my computer sucks so it doesnt run well. Do you know how much the game costs new at eb games or some store in Canada?

And I played MP2 before...I mean it was alright, but I just found it kind of boring. Maybe cause I play a lot of shooters on the PC, multi and stuff...also I didn't like the whole dark feel and there wasn't much action. The music wasn't very intense but I just heard they were both such good games, so I want to pick them up for cheap yet and beat both in order

Someone suggested using butter to get rid of it XD...haven't tried it myself. You can also try using a blowdryer to "warm up" the glue before removing it, or use products like "goo gone" which does a remarkable job.

Ya, that's why there's dates beside each of the games :D...and GOTD = Game of the DAY. Too bad you didn't pick one up yesterday, since they won't sell you Battalion Wars/Odama for $10 today. Calling the manager is pointless too ;). Pariah is indeed a penny w/o purchase of another game, but it's not as great of a deal as yesterday's. Pariah is a mediocre shooter that got average reviews, and retails for $5-10 regularly, so you aren't saving very much. Plus, there was maybe 0-2 copies left for most EB's...I checked EB today at 3:00 and they were sold out; the guy said they started the day with one copy.

I wouldn't have picked up either, but 10 bucks for a game is so cheap in Canada I couldn't resist. You can't even buy an old used game for 10 bucks out here. Cheapest new game is around 25-30 bucks. Look around, there are some terrific games for under $25. (ie. Tales of Symphonia for $20 at ToysRUs)...The main thing is to just take advantage of sales at different stores; since January, there have been sales like $10 off any game over $30 @ SuperStore, Buy-One-Get-One-Free in Zellers and ToysRUs. Boxing Day had some really good sales too (that's when I bought my GC @ Walmart for $62). I have 14 games right now (all purchased new), and the average cost was like $18-20 each.

I got Beyond Good & Evil on these forums. If you have paypal, look in the Trading section. I payed $12 + $2 shipping or something for Beyond Good & Evil. It was sealed too. I payed $16 or something for used Metal Gear Solid: The Twin Snakes. I'm pretty sure you can find the Metroid Primes pretty cheap around here.
I've heard Beyond Good & Evil was a pretty good game - definitely underrated. It is also kind of hard to find. I would've definitely bought a new sealed copy for $14. As for MGS:Twin Snakes, I've heard it's also a pretty good game (it's no MGS3 though). Only downside is that it's used =\. Anyways, hope you enjoy them :D (Oh ya, EB in the US sells used copies of Metroid 1 for $4.99.)

10 bucks new at toys r us? I haven't gone there for ages, but I hear of lots of good deals. I don't like to buy used games though, I always go new.
Toys R Us is one of the best stores for games. About a month ago they had a Buy One Get One Free (Player's Choice) sale - I picked up Pikmin 2 + SSX 3 for $30. I also picked up Baiten Kaitos there for $20. BTW, Toys R Us ONLY sells new games, not used.

More on Battalion Wars and Odama: You can trade them into BlockBuster for $36 (Odama) and $24 (BW).

By the way guys, there's a 3-day used game sale at Roger's Video nationwide. Games start from $9.99, which is not a bad deal. I checked it out today and the boxes were in surprisingly good condition...Too bad the GC selection sucked (LMAO only 2 games @ the Roger's I went to).

At first I was like whoa wtf...but then I realized since I don't rent movies or buy used games, that credit with Blockbuster is kinda pointless. (You can only get credit there) I think they might sell some new games, but the closest one is about 30min-45min away.

I believe Magical Melody still sells for $39.99 new everywhere, so $20 is a pretty good deal. I know for sure I'd pick it up if it was down to $25 new, since I've been a fan of the Harvest Moon games. I wouldn't buy Second Sight, as there are plenty of clearance copies at Superstore for the same price (new). Battalion Wars is good for $25, since it retails for $55, but it's nothing when most of us got it new for $10

All major websites have flyers that you can check online. Just to go there main page and look for a link to "see a flyer", not go through all the games. Some of the stores I check include Best Buy, Futureshop, and SuperStore. EB games doesn't really have a flyer, and most of their deals in the newsletter are mostly for the US, so check the forums for that.

It seems like whenever I see this deal posted on different websites, people always try to ruin it for everyone else. With such limited quantities, combined with the popularity of some of the items in this deal (eg.Donkey Konga/JB), it's hard enough getting a copy for oneself to play with. Having assholes that go and try to buy as many copies as they can to make "profit", or buying copies they don't need to trade in/sell just makes it that much harder. If you truly wanted to make a profit, there are many other ways to do so, with other items that aren't in very limited quantity - instead of fucking it up for everyone else by hoarding the copies.

Well, I thought I'd participate in the Game Of The Day myself!

You picked up Viewtiful Joe for the PS2 and Viewtiful Joe for the GC right? Or did you somehow manage to convince the guy to sell you the original VJ for the GC as well?

I picked up VJ2 for GC myself as well when it first became GOTD, and although you aren't saving very much (normally sells for $15), it's still one of the more original titles with plenty of style and polish. It's definitely worth the $10, so I'd recommend others to pick it up as well. (There are still sealed copies in Brentwood Mall if people are looking to buy one)

As for Freedom Force, just do a simple search online in any major game website and they'll have the details there.

My comment wasn't aimed directly at you, but it was more about me voicing my annoyance of seeing people saying things like, "since it's so cheap, you should just buy the copies and trade them into BlockBuster." It's also aimed towards people that buy up a majority (or significant portion) of the stock left, leaving others out of the deal (Eg. 5 copies of DK left and buying 4 copies, and usually trading/selling those copies afterwards).

By the way, which area do you live in? The EB's near me in Vancouver are always packed with people. :bomb:

Yea I was browsing the forums and found this punk, good that he got screwed over haha. Serves him right for being a greedy bum. depriving CAGer's of good deals :bomb:

Well lol with 35$ store credit I might have bought 1 copy extra just so I can rent like.... 5 or 6 games? not bad...2 bucks each rental.

true enough, but then some poor CAGer might have been deprived of this game (haven't opened it yet so not quite sure if its good or not)

Not where I live...thats for sure lol. Odama I've basically beaten already, I'm on the last level. It's really not that hard or long at all...I don't understand why everyone says its such a hard game. The Spider Temple level I only had trouble on, but not because of its difficulty, only because of what you had to do and that I never noticed it. (You'll most likely see what I mean when you get there.) Half the levels I beat on my first try and the rest took 3-4 tries tops. Battalion Wars is actually longer, more fun, and almost just as hard really. Battalion Wars I think I got 2-3 levels left... Odama is pretty fun though, I just don't like yelling in the mic all the time, but its really cool if your the only one in the house lol. I'd say its definitely worth 10 bucks though, but 70 not a chance.

lol well I only buy games once I do beat one, so ya...I dont buy games very much. I think I have bought about 15, with these 2 being 17, since the gamecube launch. Battalion Wars is a really awesome game though. It has so much replay value because you want to get the S ranking and the 4 bonus missions. Plus it's the type of game you can and feel like playing over shortly after you beat it. These are the type of games I like...clear unlockables, all it takes is a good plan to get the ranking/unlockables. Tales of Symphonia type I don't like at all. I always go for perfection in my games and Tales of Symphonia is just way too time consuming and repetitive or whatever if you want to unlock everything. I basically need a guide in front of me every 5 minutes so I go to the correct town to trigger some event. And to get all the titles I need to play the game like 10 times!! Man I just realized how much I really hate that game.

Anyway isn't Donkey Konga tomorrow? I'm thinking of picking that one up...

yep its tm, i'm going first thing in the morning, if i don't get a copy heads are gonna roll :bomb: ToS is an awesome game, but its one of those games where no matter how you beat it, its satisfying, i really like the battle system too, you have to admit its a great game  , i heard battalion wars is the 3d version of advance wars or something to that effect, someone correct me if i'm wrong ;)

Edit: I have a bad habit of starting a game and not finishing it, also i'm one of those people who goes and gets the game if its a good deal (even if i won't have time to play it)

oh lol I usually only get games I want...but 10 dollars new is just so cheap I had to get it...and they are also new! I dunno games don't really satisfy me much. I just like either short and lots of replay value/unlockables, or long and maybe a couple unlockable characters or clothing or something for a second game to add on to a bit of replay. If I feel like I missed something in the game, unlockables or whatever, then I dont feel like playing it. And in a game like ToS if you miss something its often missed for good and you have to start over from your last save file! Plus the story was weird to me...I dunno I just didn't really like it. The battle system was pretty fun the first time around though, but now it just seems so easy

Donkey Konga is sold out at 3 places....
Well, Is Jungle Beat worth it without the bongos...
No wait, It couldn't be!

STORES OPENED AT 10 AND IT'S 10:20!
I've called everywhere! They're all sold out!

Doesn't mean they sold out today. Stores didn't get any new shipments of these games for the sales so there are cases where they just never had a game for a sale.

Correct. This is a clearance sale so whatever's left is whatever's for sale. No new copies will be ordered.

Called five locations here. Four never had it in stock and one had one copy but since it was the last location I called it had already been put on hold. Don't even ask me how I planned to get their anyway  Since I already have the bongos from Jungle Beat I even tried to see if they had copies of it without the bongos that they could sell for $9.89 but no luck with that idea either

Oh well got all the other games so far and know the EB I go to has Neopets at least. Could care less about if I end up getting Bulletproof and Total Overdose though so with not being able to get Konga and not caring about the other two I think I might just get something else and only get Neopets and Cold War if they had that since it is $7.96 or whatever it is.

I manage to get a copy for myself because i go so early, but for those that are busy, i feel bad for them. Its unfortunate when someone is being greedy and not allowing others to experience the game for themselves.

Someone posted this on RFD about today's GOTD sale:

"I got to Bramalea City Center today at 10:10. I was told by the EB worker that all 8 copies of the game were sold to someone at store opening. He then called another close location and was told they have a lot of stock still. I arrived at the other store within 10 minutes to find out he sold all 5 copies to someone just 5 minutes ago!!. Gr, what bad luck a have, and such evil people to buy that many copies of the game."

Ouch. :hot:

Ugh. Metrotown and Oakridge are sold out of everything. Pacific Centre and Brentwood have Jungle Beat without the bongos. Seeing as I don't have the bongos, I'm not gonna bother.

Here's my experience for today:

Wake up this morning...HOLY CRAP it's 9:20 already! It will take me more than 40 minutes to get changed and arrive at the mall when it opens at 10:00! Nooo! (By the way, I skipped my lecture today at 9:30 to get the games  )

So anyways, I got to the EB in my mall at about 10:20, and they were sold out of Donkey Konga. There were no opened. I ended up getting a copy of Jungle Beat though, as it was sealed (it's still playable with controller, and I get bongos in the future for Bongo Blast, I could use it)

I decided to phone other EB's to see if they have Donkey Konga, here's the results:

Lougheed
Konga: 0 (no copies to start with)

Metrotown
Konga: 0 (no copies to start with)

Brentwood
Konga: 0 (no copies to start with)

Coquitlam Centre
Konga: 0 (no copies to start with)

New West
Konga: 1 copy (sold out...I should've called last night - I would've been able to get there before the store opens)

Oakridge
Konga: 1 copy (sold out...I could've gotten there early too if I had called it last night. DAMN Y_Y)

...not much of a "sale", is it? XD

LOL I just read this posted by someone else...were you one of the "three people in line"? XD

"Just got back from Oakridge. There were 3 of us lined up for about 10 minutes. Unfortunately, there was only one copy of DK with bongos, and 3 copies of JB. The first guy in line grabbed the DK set, and off we went to Zellers to try and work some magic. The employee behind the electronics kiosk was cool and wanted the deal to work out so he could do it himself. However, some dumbass supervisor on the phone said we needed a flyer or a pricing sign off the EB wall. I don't understand how an original receipt is not enough proof, but I think the supervisor was just being a jerk.

So, I just picked up JB for $10... not a bad deal, but kinda lame without the peripheral.

Downtown Vancouver is OOS on both."

It's true too...Oakridge doesn't have any copies of Jungle Beat left.

Ya, that's another method as well...

...unfortunately most FS don't have copies of the games, and even if they did, most EB's are sold out anyways (they will phone and check for price/availability).

Congrats though!

The deal today only applys to Jungle Beat the game, not Jungle Beat with Bongos. However, I've read that a few people got real lucky (with clueless EB clerks that don't know what the GOTD is), and got Donkey Kong: Jungle Beat WITH BONGOS for the GOTD price! It's too bad all the ones here in Greater Vancouver knows that Jungle Beat isn't supposed come with the bongos.

I would still recommend the game even if you don't have a bongo though...you can get bongo's for cheap on the internet (around $15), the game can still be played with controller (although pointless), but for $10, you can't go wrong picking up ONE copy ;)

Hey, the worst case scenario is that they don't let you price match, while the best is Konga with Bongos for $5~

Let me know how it goes if you do decide to try it ;)...but then you don't have the receipt anymore right? (I also read it doesn't state "with bongos" on the receipt)

By the way, the Zellers there actually has copies of Donkey Konga w/ Bongos? How many copies? The one in Coquitlam Centre has like 1 copy of DK:Jungle Beat, and no Konga :(

So how early did you end up going there? Was the other guy already waiting outside infront of those glass doors or somethings? If not, you could've rushed in past him and ran up to the counter. XD

Did you at least get Donkey Kong: Jungle Beat? (If so, was it sealed?) It's still not bad considering it's only $10, and normally retails for $45. Ya, it sucks without the bongos, but hey, it's still playable.
