Hello fellow CAGers,

I have been out of PC gaming for quite a while. I really really want to play the latest games like Battlefield 2, Rise and Fall, Rome Total War and COD2 etc.....

My PC is a P4 2.4 GHz with 1 GB RAM and a Geforce 5500 card (AGP4x). I have been thinking about upgrading the graphics card for the longest time.

I dont wanna go crazy and get a top of the line card (too much $$$).
I saw a card on sale at CC

It's the Radeon X1300 AGP 512 MB. With the $15 off 100 coupon, it's right on my budget.

Could you experts out there please tell me whether the card is good enough (framerate-wise) to run the games I have aforementioned??

The 5500 card struggles so much in running Rome and Battlefield 1942 =(

I don't know if I should want for a pricedrop for the Geforce 7 series or just go and get this card.

Thanks very much!

i have a x800pro with ati silencer installed that is agp. Please let me know if interested. Its a better card than the x1300, which is basically a dumbed down x series card.

Its the 3th tier of out of ati's 4 new 1xxx series cards that support shader 3.0. The 1300s are at the lowest price level and theyre pretty bad cards. The x1600 is nothing to brag about either, but it performs decently well if your low on budget. Its 125 before rebates, 115 after.

Wouldn't his best option be an Nvidia 6600GT or 6800GT?

Nearly identical specs but Sapphire is a better company. Plus, you don't have to worry about that ridicilous heatsink/fan.
