for a laptop, does the processor really matter? the laptop im lookin at has a intel celeron m, but i was planning on upgrading the RAM anyways. The laptop is a hell of a good deal for $450.. i just wanted to know if processors make a difference on laptops because im used to PCs.

I don't know if it's compaq's fault or intel's fault, but my last celeron m ran hot and would slow down to nothing if I ran more than one program too. Currently have a brand new core duo and it completely destroys it. Try to configure the cheapest dell you can and you may be surprised just how good a deal you can get. Processors always make a difference. Try and spring for a core duo if you can.

go to Bensbargains.net look for a deal on a laptop with a pentium-m/core solo/core duo/athlon 64/turion 64. Find one that fits your budget you might have to wait a week or two until you find a deal for around $500-$600 but in the end it will be worth it. I know at least 4 people with a laptop like the one you are looking at and they just are not very good.

heres a dell with a pentium-m and a gig of ram that is the same price as the celeron you were looking at:
