BestBuy B&M pennied out those Xbox dvd disc samplers:
Baseball's Greatest Rivalries DVD Sampler $0.01 (Reg. $5.00)

In addition, they have started a Trade-In program for used (but working) electronics, games, accessories, and a lot more. The CSR said everything will be given in store-credit only...the value being based on overall condition and completeness (he mentioned close to blue book value).

For anyone trading in stuff, please report back on any outrageous merchandise value, but they will probably give close to dirt on all our games. (Won't it be hilarious if they gave more credit back on their $5 stock of discounted games a few weeks back?)

I wonder how much they'd give for a Dell Axim X5...

Interesting... Is there a website where I could read more? Or is all this from word of mouth?

They have pamphlets in store which talk about it. They don't give prices or anything, but they do explain the process. The example they gave was a surround sound system, an Old TV and something else being worth about $150 - $200.

Just what I remember,
Take Care,
Matthew

Your local store should have all the information and signage available. I was caught off-guard while browsing at BB, and just reported what I saw and discussed about with the BB employee there.

Whoa, is Best Buy really going to be buying used stuff? That's HUGE news, I wonder what kind of rates you'll get compared to EB and Gamestop...oh well, more competition certainly can't hurt. Actually, doesn't this almost make them more like a pawn shop?

BTW, silly question but what is "blue book value"?

i think its a sucky idea...i hate used games...i hate seeing them...i hate the smell of them...this is just going to make it a lot harder to get anything new cheap at bestbuy again (imo)

Cool, I gotta lot of electronics crap I don't want anymore, and it'll be great if Best Buy takes some of the messed up but working GBA and controllers I have lying around.

go to www.kbb.com

Its a book wiht values of stuff. Its more than a trade in credit at eb, but less than what they sell it for.

Nope, tag was changed to 1 penny at my BB. If they don't limit it to 1 per customer, there won't be any left in a day or two.

sj41, If you don't get one, let me know, I have an extra one I can send you for the cost of shipping. It isn't the full DVD btw, just a preview of the full DVD.

Actually, this could be pretty cool. I've got a 20-inch flat screen TV with composite, wouldn't mind trading up for one with component or at least S-video. And it would be pretty pointless for me to just buy a new tv unless my current one breaks.

blockbuster is doing this and now best buy and I found out last week Media Play is also starting this but they said they would give you cash or credit. You probably would get more if you take the credit.

This isn't the first time a promo(?) DVD like this went to a penny. Sounds legit to me.

there are enough places that do trade in. i used to run an EB and i hope to god that Best Buy never does this. i love the fact that we lower our prices so low like when some of the games went to $5.

Best Buy is doing this with several electronics so it might be for real.
