This is my first review of anything, so go easy on me.

The item I'm reviewing is the Intec Safe Case found here
http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.do?product_id=4891342

First impression of the case was simple, it is exactly like the big DS case I have but custom fit to hold the DS Lite. I know a lot of people look for portability in their cases but I prefer durability. This case has that in spades.

http://img157.imageshack.us/img157/6704/dscf06936im.th.jpg (http://img157.imageshack.us/my.php?image=dscf06936im.jpg) http://img157.imageshack.us/img157/3463/dscf06948lg.th.jpg (http://img157.imageshack.us/my.php?image=dscf06948lg.jpg)

The bottom half of the case holds the Lite snugly to the point of needing a strap to lift and release (see third picture). A big change to this case from the older one is the black divider which keeps odd objects like games from potentially damaging the top of the DS.

The top of the case could easily hold 10 loose DS carts if you wanted them in there. To give you an idea of how much room is available consider that the case is divided as bottom half = DS and top half = extra storage

The only down side to this case was the odd smell inside. It has a solvent smell and I kept it open for several days and used fabreeze to get rid of the smell before putting the DS in. That could have been a flaw with my case (and my friends) or it might be something to consider. At the going price of $10 I think it is a good buy for a strong and durable case.

would a charger fit in there with some games?

those of you looknig for a sweet compact case. I highly suggest the airform case here http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=104751141297&rd=1&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWN%3AIT&rd=1

I had one of these for my ds fat, and am now awaiting my new one for my dsl.

If you carefully placed the charger in there you could get it to fit, but then at best you are looking at fitting two games in there. And it would be tight fitting. If you want to get a charger to fit I recommened the DS game folio.

Hey man nice review. Appreciate you taking the time out to do that.

Same here, really appreciate the time and effort people are putting into taking pictures of their cases and discussing their pro's and con's.

I am one of the folks that is looking for a case that leans towards durability over portability, and wants room to hold the charger. I had considered the Intec safe case, but now I know it might not perfectly suit my needs.

I hope others (including the poster that mentioned the Airform case) will continue to post their own reviews and pics. Thanks!

I have a fat one of these for the old DS. Do you think it would hurt the DS Lite too much to use it for that instead?

Hm... maybe we should just have one huge DSL case review thread and sticky it?:-k

I think it would be a bad idea to use your old case for the Lite. There is nothing to prevent it from being jarred around inside the case. I think you'd be better off getting another case (any one for that matter) rather that trying to convert the case.

For those looking to hold their charger consider the Game Folio

I have one of these for the Gameboy SP and the design looks the same so it should have room for the charger and some games.

This may be true. So far I've been keeping my DSL in the packing sleeve that it came with and then laying a GBA game in a case on top of the DSL. With that all fit together, depth-wise it's a perfect fit with the old model. I also lay the GBA filler slot to the side of the system. This way it doesn't jar around too much (and even the old DS jarred around some with no damage). Though I'm considering using my old, soft, cushy walkman case. It's about the right size and real snug.

My concern about a lot of these lite cases is that they seem to only fit the Lite when the GBA filler slot is in. and I play a lot of GBA games on my DS and usually have a game in the slot, so switching them in and out with the filler cartridge sounds like a pain. Are there any cases that are big enough to contain a DS Lite with a GBA game in, and yet still be snug and protective?

update, I returned this case because I could not fully remove the "solvent" smell from the case.
