They have so many sales on the same stuff, they should just make those prices the MSRP.

The last time I ordered, I bought six copies of one of those free DVD's, but they only sent me one at $10 shipping.

How many times does ADV have these sales? I see this sale at least once a month...

Yeah, I'm not scrolling through a browser frame. You want my business, list your products on the actual web page, or make sure you know how your site looks.

Well its their backstock so it is not like it is going away anytime soon. They will jsut keeping having sales until it is gone or they find some other way to dump it. They really need to drop prices again if they expect to sell more

Nothing cheaper. Ever since they raised their prices on stuf a few times back there has been nothing worth it. 7.00 manga plus 5 bucks shipping? Weak.

I really dont get why ADV figures if that raising the prices will make it sell better. You'd think they'd cut their losses and liquidate $10 and under to say $2, and $10-20 to $5. Its not like they're low on money, between the ADVfilms store and Rightstuf, theyve got plenty of money.
Alphacraze has ADVmanga for $4.79, so i wouldnt buy manga from ADV either.

I ordered from ADV once and I never will again, I bought 3-4 dvds and I never got confirmation that it shipped, when I called customer support there is just an anwsering machine, I called their corporate office and could get no help after a complaint the the BBB I saw my package 3 and a half weeks later, and I did pay for shipping.

I don't care for these sales anymore. I bought one movie and a cd from them and probably won't again. The CD was hard to find and the DVD was right when these began. I've seen them do 2 of these in one month before. Stuff is rarely added. If they really wanted to move these items all they need to do is lower shipping costs. Charging an exorbitant price for shipping, and for shipping that is crappy (i.e. packaging), and then charging on a multi-tiered, per item basis is horrendous. The prices aren't really at all that bad, it's just that shipping kills it

Honestly i dont think $6 + $1 for each additional item is too bad. Its Fedex so at least its not thrown in a paper bag and dropped in a mail slot. Some people on ebay charge that much for normal shipping and dont bother combining shipping prices.
The only problem is that (as stated on the front page) processing can take from 1-4 weeks. Also if an item is backordered you have to wait for them to ship it from their RightStuf warehouse (assuming they have it in stock there).

I don't mind the shipping charge either, but that's contingent on the item prices being good. They were better before, and there's really not much new stuff.
Even with free shipping, there isn't a whole lot that really made me want to impulse buy. Everything I was previously interested in is the same price,
higher, or available at DDD for less, even without DDD's sale.
To be honest, I'm kinda glad. I bought a bunch of stuff at DDD, and I really don't need any more irresistable but expensive deals.
It's a shame. I got Azumanga Daioh from them last year (when it was cheaper) and I was very happy with that.

I really liked these ADV sales. However, there are many problems:
a.) All boxes are UPC cut
b.) Slow ass shipping time
c.) High shipping costs (i.e. not free)
d.) No confirmation number
e.) You can get these much, much cheaper elsewhere
f.) Recently, they've been RAISING the prices
g.) Packaging is pretty meh
h.) Customer support isn't helpful (or so I hear)
I mean last year there were pretty good deals though on complete collections (Samurai X, Princess Nine, Dai-Guard, Devil Lady, Arc the Lad), they're just not adding anything you can't get at DDD or Rightstuf cheaper though.

Unfortunately, not only has everything I wanted/needed been going up in price, but it seems like it's getting even higher. As the prices go up, I find that other places offline are killing their own sale prices.
It's a shame, really, since I liked ordering before from those sales. I was even hoping to finish up Rune Soldier Louie, Dunbine, and a few other series through ADV since the prices were fantastic. So much for that, I guess.

this "alphacraze" place eludes me. I tried going to their site once and couldnt shop for anything, just had a logo. Would you be kind enough as to clue me in on the inner workings of this unicorn

Well, the second to the last last time they had this sale, I managed to buy the complete set of Dai-Guard for $14 (shipping included). It's now one of my favorite anime, the video transfer is beautiful and the animation is fluid. I like the theme of the series, "Office workers, saving the world" and the it's pretty funny most of the time.
It's an awesome series, in my opinion.
Getting it here though, kind of sucked. It took several weeks for the set to arrive. Around the third week I decided to email customer support for information, and they basically told me since I ordered an item from the sale, I would not get a confirmation email and basically, "it'll get there when it gets there." Huh. That's a shitty way to conduct business, I think.
Anyway, a few days later it did arrive in the mail, no complaints on the packing job, it was pretty much standard fare. But, they bore a hole in the middle of the UPC, I guess to keep me from reselling it. I was fine with that, especially since I would never resell the set now anyway, plus it's one of those "brick" collections so there wasn't anything special about the packaging. I still thought it was odd though, but for $14, I could have had a lot more to complain about. Like paying $4 for shipping that took almost a month to get here. >_<
I looked through this sale, but I didn't see anything, except that they jacked the price up on the Dai-Guard collection by $3. ^_^
So, no thank you, ADV. I'll buy your stuff from DDD or Rightstuf, where it's cheaper AND I know what's going on with my order. :\
It's like they don't even try anymore.

Well, not to threadcrap (not that I'm alone :-P) but the DDD sale really did give better prices. I just received the 2 sets I ordered today - Final Fantasy Unlimited and Wild Arms. Payed $24 for FFU and $19 for WA, and of course that's shipped w/ DDD.

How is this clearance and at these prices?
I just bought the last 3 volumes of Full Metal Panic? Fumoffu for about $15 each shipped from DDD. ADV wants $23+ and they poke holes through boxes? This is messed up.

It seems to me, like the ADV sales started as real clearance sales to get rid of old merchandise. Problem was, they worked too well. So ADV thought they could milk us by adding non-clearance merchandise at a minimal discount, jack up the shipping, and raise prices on said clearance goods. (They charged me tax last time too, but that might be a state law thing they can't control. I dunno.)
I still look over the sales becuase there's a few decent prices still stuck in here and there... but it's been months since anything was cheap/plentiful enough to be worth bothering with.
