I just got around to playing God of War (more accurately I just got a PS2) and I've noticed a video problem with it. During some normal gameplay there is a horizontal line that goes across the screen and then fades away.
I run my PS2 through a Gamestop system selector, do you think the problem is with the game or the fact I run it through this selector?

It probably is the selector. Does it happen with any other games?

I've been playing mostly handheld games (I'm a new dad, I don't get a lot of time in front of the TV) so I haven't been able to compare it yet. I don't remember it happening to the Gamecube or XBOX games I was playing about 4 months back.

Is it a flickering type line? I noticed this when I played through God of War, the game has horrible V-Sync problems.

Yes! It runs horizontally through the middle of the screen. Not that often, but when it happens you can't miss it.

Yea, I had that same problem, tried on two television's at my house, one at my friend's house, all on different video inputs... I made a thread on it at CAG, some people didn't notice it, but I definately did seeing as how that stuff drives me nuts on the PC.
V-Sync is when the monitor isn't refreshing itself to match the action fast enough, resulting in the "tearing" you see running across the screen. I actually exchanged my copy to see if it would fix it but I never tried the new one. It's actually kept me playing the game, because it was noticeable and obnoxious.
I heard Jak 3 suffers from the same problem.
Here's a Gamespot reader review that mentions it:
And a real review: http://www.ntsc-uk.com/review.php?platform=ps2&game=GodOfWar
The fact nobody like IGN or Gamespot ever mentioned made me think it was an isolated case, but I don't know anymore.

Thank you so much for that info. To be honest it doesn't bug me that much, but I'm so happy that it is the game and not related to my system selector. I checked out Gamespot after your first post and got some good insight on this. Thanks again!

Same thing here, every once in a while, the entire screen seems to refresh in a linear fashion. Thank God it doesn't happen during battles (God mode is hard enough without graphic errors).
Yeah, I have seen it happen too. It's a pain in the ass but at least it didn't happen all the time.

It helps if you have the screen filter on. But yeah, every copy of the game does it.
