But, but...DDD, Rightstuf, DVDPacific, Best Buy, and eBay have wiped me out!

Be wary. This was one of the worst, if not the worst ever video game sales sites, to the point of being near criminal. Maybe it's different now. But definetely be wary.

Eh, once again the mystery ensues with the poorly described items. Most likely everything that says "box" but doesnt include "complete" or "set" is just 1 volume with the box, or the box itself.

I can't trust a site that wouldn't immediately rename themselves when they realize how much bad blood their name inspires.
Come on guys. Jeeze I know for a fact that they are a legit reputable site. Only thing I wonder is whether Cheapy has cleared them to post here, but with them saying that there will be a link here I guess it has.
By the way guys, jump all over that Witch Hunter Robin set. It is so worth it.
I'm also comtemplating Love Hina and Jin Roh (I've seen this one, but it is just such a good anime movie).
I've been searching the site for the items, but none are coming up. I was trying to find out if s-CRY-ed Box was indeed the complete box set as that's the only one i didn't have enough money to pick up last December at Rightstuf's 12 days of christmas.

Please Teacher is a crappy Ah! My Goddess featuring space aliens who act in completely illogical ways to advance the absurd plot. Oh, and the main character has a "disease" that makes his body look younger, just so they can stick in some seemingly pedophilic sequences with him and his older (alien!) teacher. Super-lame.
Love Hina is your standard harem comedy-romance, in which you'll see the male lead character being knocked into the sky every three minutes for misunderstandings that make him seem like a complete pervert to the rest of the female cast. The manga might be worth your time, but the anime is incredibly mediocre. Oh, and the dub is genuinely atrocious.

I can't say anything bad about Please Teacher!, I enjoyed it. The animation and music was superb. If you want soft core porn, you can't go wrong. XD Episodes 12 and 13 were good stuff.
I've only seen vol 1 of Last Exile, but I really want to see the rest of it. Top notch quality. It has one of my favorite intros that I've seen in an anime. And they have like every good English VA who's ever dubbed in that show as well. Too bad it's so expensive...

I doubt people outside of gaming circles even know the bad blood associated with the name. But then they (like someone did in this very thread) might do a BBB search or even a simple Google search before ordering to see if they can trust them. There's no way that name will help sales; it can only hurt.Yeah, and you've decided to never buy anything Nintendo because they didn't rename from their console from Wii too right? There's a difference between having a name that's goofy and having a name that's easily mistaken for something bad. If they called it the Nintendo Rapist, then yeah, I wouldn't be able to take them seriously.

I really like the theme song, though I realize it's an acquired taste.
Rented it once. Never got past disc one.
Yes, Love Hina is an acquired taste, I enjoy it, but I was never able to figure out why. On Please Teacher, I do not believe that it is a crappy OMG rip-off. Yes, its a rip-off but it is well done IMO, and the disease makes him go into super-comas (what I call them, basically his body completely shuts down), his "stand-still" as he calls it lasted for 3 years, so he looks 15 when he's really 18. Yes, the aliens act weird, but what do you expect, they're aliens. (Look at Uresei Yatsura, okay bad example). Anyway, Please Teacher is kind of what you'd get if you took My Favorite Martian, and Oh My Goddess and put them in a blender, and hit frapay. (sp) What have you got to lose aside from that money. But, if you're still not sure try to rent it. It's worth at least a look.

It's only Vol. 1 with the soundtrack, post cards, mini manga, and a mouse pad. It actually is quite cheap compared to other places (35+)
Though you can buy the complete set for 40 something, without all the extra stuff. This is obvisouly the better choice, unless you can get the other 3 for cheap.
Please twins is pretty much the same deal. IMO, it's actually a better show, but I'm probably Bias, since I fansubbed the show in thai and I have very fond memories of it. I never went around to get the DVDs though, so I guess this is a good chance.

There is a Love Hina Complete Collection that does not contain the movies (and maybe not even Love Hina Again I don't remember). Make sure it is the perfect collection that contains everything if you're gonna buy it.
I downloaded the English dub first before buying the perfect collection and said to myself "this has to be a fan dub the voice acting is too terrible". The voice acting is sooooooo bad it really detracts from the 'story'. You can't even enjoy the fan service. I haven't watched the dvds since then but I assume there is a subbed japanese version on there.

Buyrite did this same thing the last time, putting generic titles but not giving any details whether they are complete or not.
For the past 2 sales they've had the "Witch Hunter Robin Box", "S-Cry-Ed box" and the "Please Teacher box with cd" just by the fact that these have lasted so long, i doubt theyre the full boxsets. Hopefully when the items are put up on the site, they'll have a little more detail.

Really want to see if that Love Hina set is the Perfect Collection; which I guess it has to be, what else could it be? The complete collection doesn't come out until June 27th. Hmm, I think I answered my own question. That must be it then. :bomb:
Still all over the complete Infinite Ryvius collection for $15 though! Honestly, not much else I want from here, but six dvds for $15 isn't too bad. The lack of any pictures or long description does worry me though...

I bought the Infinite Ryvius Box Set.
Ndolger, you're absolutely right about the shipping options. I believe it goes by item, rather than the DVDs included in the item. There's no info on the page saying "will be shipped as [X] amount of DVDs", there's only how many episodes are included, and the pictures, which aren't all there; there's no actual info (besides the pic) on the Infinite Ryvius Box Set saying how many DVDs there are, so I don't see how we are expected to know to choose anything but 1 DVD as a shipping option, which is a DVD set in this case.
So, I chose one DVD. There's no need to pay more for shipping than necessary.
But, I don't know. I hope I'm right though. :\

It's worth noting that the Black Box is nicer looking.
Also, the person who asked about the Love Hina collection -- I'd assume that it's the Perfect Collection rather than the thing coming out on the 27th. Buy Rite DVD is typically behind and they usually deal in older stuff... so I'd seriously doubt they'd be selling a June 27th release already.

S-cry-ed box is sold out, apparently someone bought 100 within the last 10 minutes.
Im putting in my order for the WHR box right now. (though their shipping selection is a bit confusing)
Yay!! I got lucky then. I bought the S-Cry-Ed box set on chance alone yesterday hoping it was the complete series. Oh wait, bezerker you never clarified if it was the complete series or not?

Nope, didnt bother to ask since before i called it went OOS. Hope it works out okay for ya.
*edit* it looks like it just went back in stock, only 12 left now. Ugh, well if anyone decides to call them, could someone ask about the Scryed box, i really dont wanna call them back...

Seems to be from the picture. Maybe contact someone at buyritedvd and check?
That's an awesome price. 15 bucks for 6 dvds + box? I picked it up at Best Buy when it was clearanced for $24 and it was worth it then. I personally liked the show and would recommend it.

Just called and woo-hoo! I don't know how they do it, but S-cry-ed is the complete series and for $9.99. The guy went and brought one of the product and was reading the description to me over the phone. It's region 1 with the 6-discs as he was reading the back of it to me.

Seriously, if that Ryvius collection isn't the whole series...uh, there's a problem since it cleary says "INFINITE RYVIUS: THE COLLECTED SERIES contains all 26 episodes of the anime series." And a picture cleary showing SIX DVDS and a box.
And I gotta believe that the s-cry-ed is just a box. But, why the fuck haven't the items been clearly labeled yet? Do they just not want to sell these? I'm sorry I just don't understand.
The ryvius set has that description, but the picture looks like it was taken directly from Amazon. that's what scared me.

Holy crap! That's awesome, I thought for sure it was just the box (and maybe vol. 1). I had to pick that up! Thank you so much for posting! :D
10 left as of this post!
I'm still confused about the shipping rates, though. I still think if you buy one item, the shipping rate equivalent should be one DVD. Maybe I'm making too much of it. >_<
Anyway, awesome deals so far! Now to see if they deliver on them.

Wow, thats awesome, im definately buying one, i could care less if i get charged 2x for shipping. since its technically one item, i just picked "one dvd". But their shipping prices are pretty decent, so even if it gets bumped up to "3-15" $6 DHL aint bad.

You're right, I don't think it's a big deal if they do bump up the shipping, since it's actually pretty reasonable. I was just paranoid that they would cancel or hold my order because I chose the wrong shipping rate.
But, it doesn't look like I have to worry about that anymore, I just checked my email and my Infinite Ryvius Box Set order has been "fullfilled."
Item Qty Description Options Price Total
Infinite Ryvius Box Set 1 Infinite Ryvius Box Set Number Available: 27 $14.99 $14.99
Total $14.99
Yeah...the shipping charge isn't there. BUT they didn't seem to mind I chose the 1 DVD option, though, which is what I was worried about.
Well, here's hoping.

Exactly what I was thinking. But, my order was "fulfilled" earlier today. I sure hope my s-cry-ed order gets "fulfilled" soon. Amazing deal. It sure sold out fast once it was figured out to be the whole series. I got my order in around when 7 were left. I just went ahead and placed an order for S-cry-ed. I got the first volume on UMD for free, and I though t it was OK, nothing I'd buy though. Though since you guys say that it's the complete box (with the picture is), 10 bucks is a good deal. Got the third to last one left.
However, I frgot about the shipping thing and just selected 1 DVD. We'll see what will happen, if it get canceled, I don't really care, as long as they don't bill me.

It's the complete collection released in limited run for the '04 holiday season. It's totally different from the Vol. 1 /w box + the singles, packaging wise. It is a digipak housing the same discs, and the whole thing is housed in that odd shaped plastic casing with some key ring or pedant thing in that triangular window in the front.

The WHR complete collection and Love Hina complete collection are the digipak versions released in a limited run for the '04 holiday season (just like the s-cry-ed collection). I believe the WHR collection has the digipak in a book like cardboard case with a pin set.

Hey, if ya'll are bummed out about missing out on Scryed for 9.99, then grab it at Dollar General for $9.00! I've seen the anime legends releases of the series which are just the 6 volumes packaged into 3 separates dvd cases. I've seen the 2nd and 3rd, and wouldn't count out finding the first there. It'll definitely save on space and money if you can find them.

To anyone who works on that site... any chance of changing the way shipping selection works? Hey, for $10 for a set you can't go wrong. I only saw sparse episodes while it was being shown on Cartoon Network, and by no means did the show seem horrible, but nothing spectacular. I'll have to see the entirety of it to decide.
Oh, my Infinite Ryvius and S-cry-ed has been fulfilled. let's just see how long it for them to get here.
It sounds like they could be selling the s-cry-ed restock for $49.99, which would be more in line with the price of other complete collections that they are selling at.
Someone could have ordered all the $9.99 s-cry-ed. Or they became aware of the misprice and temporarily pulled the stock.

Usually, it lasts until they run out of stock. They're not a traditional store, they usually get overstock from other stores and sell everything at a discount, which is why there are huge holes in their inventory and they may not have every volume in a series. Each item has a stock number, so you can look at that for an idea of how long each will last.

My Infinite Ryvius Box Set came today! You can only imagine my surprise when it did, and it came by DHL no less.
Details: It shipped from Edison, NJ. The box it was shipped in was very compact, the set fit snugly, so there wasn't any room for packing material. The set is brand new, factory sealed. I opened it and looked at the discs, all volumes include their premium items (I'm not sure what they are though, like really thick stickers or something) and all discs appear perfect except for the third volume, which had a few light scratches, none that would hamper playback though. There were no signs (ie, shaking the box set) to indicate any of the discs were dislodged during shipping, so those scratches must have come when the disc was manufactured. And yes, it is the ENTIRE series, volumes 1 through 6. And the set box is in great condition.
I chose the cheapest shipping option, so I didn't expect it to ship in a big box with lots of packing material. I'm very pleased! Especially since it all only cost < $17. :D

Pencil boards...I've never heard of such a thing until now. I did a search on Wikipedia on Pencil Boards (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pencil_board), that's pretty interesting. When I opened up volume one and saw that, I thought it was a mousepad, then I saw it has some sort of pull off paper, like a sticker.
Anyway, that's cool. ^_^

Just got an email from Buyrite, it seems that future dvd listings on the site will include the UPC code. You'll be able to copy it down, and search the code on other retailers to make sure of what the exact product is (no guessing about complete boxes, box with 1 volume, etc)
That'll definately take some of the worry out.
*EDIT*
This is wierd, i just compared some of the UPC codes, it seems that the UPC for "Please Teacher Limited Box & CD" which i was told is only 1 volume, is the same UPC code as the box with all 4 volumes.
Its the only one i can find a difference in, so im wondering if maybe they actually are the complete series. I think someone a few pages back said they ordered one, please, chime in if you get the whole series or just 1 dvd, thanks.

My mail just came in, and I don't know how they do it but I ordered Wednesday night/Thursday early morning (right when the sale started basically) and one of my orders - Infinite Ryvius - just came in. Very fast. It was in a pretty tight box, but there was still enough room for it to move around. Came from Edison New Jersey so this has to be one of the fastest turn around times I've seen. Way faster than DDD. I ordered the Lain and Gungrave boxsets from Rightstuf well days before this deal and I still haven't received either one. Anyway, the box has a bit of a dent in one side it seems and a couple corners are scuffed, but I ain't gonna complain. It's sealed and for $15 how can you go wrong. This has been on my DDD wishlist for a very very long time. I think going on two or three sales now, and even after DDD 20% off discount it would still be $30. This is great. Thanks OP. I hope you offer many more deals like this.

This just in, the Please Teacher box is the COMPLETE SERIES, not just the first dvd.
This makes me wonder what the guy was looking at when he told me it was only 1 ><....
I'm off to buy it.
Ugh, I still think it's terrible... That $20 could better be spent on some Utena over at DDD.
i just got infinite ryvius in, score

Yea, i had to do a double take, and i decided against it, instead i pre-ordered the FMA tin 3 for $25 from Video Universe. I'm still debating pre-ordering the DBZ Uncut Vegeta Boxset (Eps 1-40? - 975min) for $20. Its a really good deal.
I received my WHR box today, shipped by DHL (even though i chose first class). Its the "book" box. Comes with the 6dvds in a digipak and 3 pins in a coffin case. Pretty nice for $50. Cant wait til i get my S-cry-ed box, hopefully tomorrow.
I'm definately gonna buy from Buyrite again, the upgraded shipping is just another plus for them on my list.

*EDIT* and the description of the Vegeta box set is "This collection presents the action-packed chronicle of sibling rivalry in its entirety with episodes 1-18." so i don't think its episodes 1-40....

Remember, crappy anime, no matter how heavily it may be discounted, is still crappy anime. Wasting money is one thing, but wasting multiple hours of time watching it might be even worse.

Well yea, i enjoyed it the first time watching it (unlike the monstrosity that was Please Twins), but then i thought "would i ever re-watch this?", obviously the answer was no. FMA is a much more logical thing to spend money on. I sometimes let my jew insticts of seeing a great deal get the best of me. At ADV sales i've bought Magical Play, Dai Guard Complete, and Devil Lady Complete just because they were on sale. I've yet to watch em.
I see that Buyrite has Saikano vol 2 on their site, i'd love for them to put up either the rest of the series, or the complete boxset. Just got done watching the series, and as depressing as it was, i wouldnt mind owning the actual dvds.
Since the last update was 6/21, maybe Weds. we'll see more anime titles added.

Must have missed it, but which anime did you pass on Bezerker?
By the way, I still haven't received my s-cry-ed set which was ordered at the same time as ryvius and billed at the same time, but hopefully tomorrow it'll come. Today I got three different packages from DDD of my various orders that filled up my box which probably killed the room for it to be put if it indeed did come, but regardless I'm happy.

I just watched Dai Guard a couple weeks ago. I thought it was well worth the 10 I paid for it from Bestbuy. Whether I'll get around to watching it again remains to be seen.

I'm jumping on the Dai-Guard bandwagon also. It's a great show; fluid animation, bright, vivid colors, interesting characters, and it's one of the few anime I've seen that's melded comedy and seriousness so well together.
I got it from the ADVFilms website awhile back, when it was $10. Of course, I had to pay $5 for shipping, but the series is well worth $15 IMO.

Yea, Bandai certainly likes to make the most standout-ish boxes for complete series (.hack, WHR, S-cry-ed).
I got my S-cry-ed box today. The Hexagon looks nice (unfortunately the top got a bit bent up in the mail). A few of the dvds came loose from the digipak (i really do hate digipaks) but none were scratched up, so thats all good. The box also came with a keychain inside a black triangle "scryed" case.
Once again it was shipped by DHL even though i only paid for 1st class. Buyrite has definately shown some integrity with first honoring the misprice of $9.99, then upgrading the shipping for free. Shame theyre tainted by other "buyrite" store failures. Well at least we know people on this board wont get them mixed up with buyritegames.

Dai-guard was a little too sappy for me, but it wasn't horrible. The animation was definitely top notch though. I'll probably re-watch it one day subbed, as the dub kinda annoyed me after awhile.
Yeah, I just got my s-cry-ed box via DHL as well; free shipping upgrades are fun! Only complaint I have about s-cry-ed is where the hell I'm going to put it. Very odd choice for a box, I must say.
Anyone else try and make a wholesale account on buyrite? I still haven't received a response. I sure would like to be able to get Love Hina for $39...
Edit: Hah! I just checked on the Please Teacher! boxset, and they raised it to $39! lol If anybody wants still wants it, you can get it at rightstuf for $29; where I got mine a few months ago.

I got my s-CRY-ed box today too (shipped by DHL also)! It came in a lot bigger box than the Ryvius box set; I didn't realize the s-CRY-ed box would be so big, or there would be a digipak (another new term I've learned from here) in the middle of it. One of the discs was loose, but it never rattled around so it never got scratched, and there was just a slight ding in the outer hexagon box. In other words, no complaints. :D
Two complete anime sets for <$30. Incredible. I haven't watched Infinite Ryvius yet, but I've seen a few episodes of s-CRY-ed before, and I thought it was good.
Keep the deals coming, BuyRite! And many thank you's for honoring the misprice. :)

Called them again. Seems that USPS had a delay either picking it up from them or sending it out or something, but most stuff should be on its way to west coast people and should arrive by the end of the week. Fine company good to do business with. Wish they had more stuff though.

All I've done so far is run it through a disc scan with ISOBuster to check for problems -- it found a lot of unreadable sectors. Haven't tried it in a DVD player yet to see how well it deals with the errors. My big concern is that I'd like to watch discs 1-3 first, but I also don't want to wind up getting half-way through the series and not be able to finish.
As for what I paid, I realize that it's pretty low -- I probably could just trade in the other volumes to FYE or Blockbuster for ~$3-4 each and wind up with slightly more credit at either than I paid for it, so I'm not too worried about that.

I don't know about the price reduction on the set, but it appears that the shipping goes by items rather than physical DVDs the item contains. So your set of six DVDs is still one item, which is what you pay to get shipped.
I went ahead and ordered Key the Metal Idol Vol 1 and 2 for $8.99 a piece and I managed to find a new copy of Vol 3 on Amazon for $4.40 shipped. The complete three volume set runs around $40-$45, so doing it this way I save about $20. Though, I don't get the soundtrack, but it's no big deal IMO, since I know a great place to get it (hint, it's in my sig ^_^).
I've read quite a bit about this anime, and I've really wanted to see it. It's suppose to be a lot like Lain, though I haven't seen that either. This one interests me a lot more, so I wanted to see this before Lain.
Oh, and if anyone has any gaps in their (Vision of) Escaflowne collection, they still have volumes 1-8 for $7.49 a piece. Not too bad IMO.
Man, I wish they restocked more often. I'm getting spoiled with all these deals. ^_^

Cool. Just finished watching mine about a week ago. It's a good show; lots of extras. I suggest watching the extras after you've watched the series, for fear of spoilers (they show a lot of episode 25 clips :bomb: ). Anyway, for $15, it definitely was a great deal.
