Tales of Destiny is coming to the PS2 in full 3D, with a release planned for Winter. The PlayStation version's Enhanced Linear Motion Battle System (E-LMBS), is being replaced with a new system, although details weren't provided. The dialogue for the main scenario has been rewritten, and promises greater depth for the storyline.

The game will also include a brand new chat system, something that's completely new to the series. The original PlayStation version had a character chat system known as the Active Party Window, where the characters would chat amongst themselves as you adventured. No details were provided on the new system.Link (http://ps2.ign.com/articles/713/713412p1.html).

I'm glad to see the chat system being implemented. Although I was kind of hoping for a Tales of the Abyss look, it still looks very interesting. I really liked ToD a lot on PS1, but the game definitely could use improvements in various areas (like the battle system feels really slow now). The chances of this game coming stateside are probably very slim.

Oh wow, I like the art designs in this remake. Well, here's hoping it comes stateside.

That is extremely pretty. The character designs are nice as well... Sony had better approve this for the US.

The only question is whether Namco wants to, especially with how poorly the original ToD did. However, since the merger with Bandai, I think the chances are greater, since they seem to be releasing RPGs now that would, or have sold worse than ToD.

I feel it would be good for Namco to release it, and Tales of Destiny 2 for PSP (The PS2 port), within a 6 month span.

Well, I doubt that ToD is even a relevant reference for Namco anymore... Tales of Symphonia and Tales of Legendia must've sold pretty well because we're getting Abyss over here, so I don't think Namco's willingness will be an issue.

Namco was already translating TotA before Legendia came out, so it was expected that TotA was coming anyway (look at the back of the Legendia instruction booklet, since it has TotA characters on it).

btw Chacrana, I like your collection a lot. It's basically the same stuff I like (such as if I had an Xbox 360, you have the same three games I'd buy).

I'm posting a pic in the collection thread soon (once I get some more imports)... people will either love it or fucking hate it.

Oh, and Namco deserved to have Legendia fail... what I played of it was awful... I loved Symphonia and Eternia, but damn... that Legendia was crap.

I didn't see Tales Studio's name anywhere on ToL, and I remember hearing various members from Namco's other teams were involved, so that's probably why the game wasn't too good to most.

I liked Legendia. It was made by the Soul Calibur team, that's why it has that different feel. While I'll admit the gameplay wasn't as good as the other games in the series, the characters were probably the best in the series. If that game had had the gameplay of Symphonia, it would have been amazing. Also it had an amazing soundtrack.

Abyss was definitely coming here because it's the spiritual successor to Symphonia. It's made the same team, and its gameplay is really just an evolution of Symphonia's.

Some of these Tales games have not been making it stateside, so I hope it actually gets over here.
