I believe so.. think you gotta register it (Nintendo.com) and save your receipt.. You should be fine then.. (im pretty sure)

It's likely that you don't even need to register it or keep the receipt. They scan in the serial number at the register, and I guess relay that information to Nintendo somehow.

I used their warranty service for a GBA SP2 that I'd gotten at Walmart on black Friday (thanks CAG!). I didn't register, and I didn't still have the receipt. I gave the rep the serial number, and he knew it was still under warranty.

According to Nintendo's website, you don't have to register it to get warranty service.

Their site has a form where you can throw your serial number in and see if the retailer you bought it from sent it to Nintendo. If so, you're set, and you'll be able to get service. If not, Nintendo asks that you have your receipt handy for proof of ownership.

And yes, Nintendo has a zero tolerance policy on dead pixels, so you should have no problem getting another one through them if you buy a Lite with a dead pixel.

Sweet. I have a dead pixel in the middle of the top screen and it's making me crazy. I'm going to try EB this weekend (where I bought it) but if they won't take it back I guess I'll send it to Nintendo. It will suck being without my Lite for a few weeks though - I was waiting so long for it to come out...

People have stated that you can arrange for Nintendo to send you a DS Lite and a mailer for your broken Lite. As long as you send the old Lite back within a week, they won't charge you for the "extra" Lite.

But you'd have to get in touch with Nintendo to confirm this.

BTW, here's the web site where you can insert your serial number and see if EB registered it for you. Mine isn't recognized, which seems preposterous since EB went through the trouble to actually input it in their system (and it's on my receipt).

Nintendo has the best warranty service of the three big players, both in terms of length and service. And their products often are the most durable too!

Well Target didn't register the serial number with them when I bought mine and I no longer have the receipt. Guess I'm out of luck if something happens.
