I've been tracking this bad boy since the day I saw it in the theaters. It has just dropped from $23.99 to $19.99. Not too shabby of a price for a great movie. I'm sure there'll be a better deal as we get closer to release (Aug 1) and there'll probably be a double dip in the future but this is looking good for now...
Linkage (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000FS9FCQ/ref=wl_it_dp/103-9400517-4583835?%5Fencoding=UTF8&colid=3GD5N2JGRJMIP&coliid=I11NZGY1S9LOCJ&v=glance&n=130)
EDIT - I decided to add a few more online stores in order to track price changes:
Target.com Price (http://www.target.com/gp/detail.html/sr=8-6/qid=1151024133/ref=sr_8_6/601-0249524-3115372?%5Fencoding=UTF8&asin=B000FS9FCQ) - $19.99

Best Buy.com (http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=7904734&type=product&id=1546426) - $24.99
Circuit City.com (http://entertainment.circuitcity.com/Movies/Movie.aspx?v_id=V+++319427&type=&prodid=WHV82379DVD) - $29.99
Same here. This is really the only movie that I'm truly without a doubt picking up or ordering come release day. i've been tracking it since it was in theatres (saw it twice) and it's truly the best movie of 2006 that I've seen so far and the only one that I'm truly looking forward to a DVD release (other than Kiss Kiss Bang Bang and Lucky Number Slevin).
Thanks for the links to the sites OP. DDD drop it to $19.99 plus free ship and I while order right now.

To be honest, i would love to buy this movie now, but i hate buying a movie only to see a better, more feature edition at a lower price later in the year...
did it do that well in theatres that it would warrant a double dip? dont get me wrong, the movie was terrific, but the world revolves around the mighty dollar

Yes. Didn't have too high of budget (for what seemed like a 100 million dollar movie to me) and was number 1 at the box office the first weekend with higher then expected numbers. It had a production budget of 50 million or so and made about 70 million.
SynGamer
06-24-2006, 06:22 AM
V for Vendetta (http://movies.yahoo.com/movie/1808632423/info), on the U.S. Box Office chart it has made $70 million. It cost something like $50 million to be made, but a lot of people forget that there's the rest of the world as well (not just the U.S.). So if it made $70 million in the U.S., its probably safe to say it made at least another $100 million outside the U.S.
So we'll say it made $170 million - $50 million for budget = ~ $120 profit. Not bad. And i think the movie would be worth a double dip this November,

Any other good sites to pre-order on this? Looks like I missed out on Amazon as it currently isn't that price.
Edit: And if there isn't, then which one of the sties comes in the best packaging. I know that DDD is a good site, but their packaging can be off at times and I want this set in pristine condition.

It cost $54 million to make. $70,511,035 U.S box office and $60,900,000 Foreign box office. So $131,411,035 is correct worldwide. But I have no clue what the theatres take. But half seems high im thinking its more like 20%.

You are wrong about taking in more than 131 mil, it appears like it did worse overseas than here, but you are right in that theaters don't take half the cut. They are very lucky if they get more than a dollar on every ticket sold. Also be wary of FYE rebate, you'll either be wating a long time (like 10 weeks) for that $7 or you'll never see it.
Edit: Though it still seems to be the best price even without the reabte (about $17), but I guess that can change come release week.

Disappointed? While the deal was going it was $9.93 w/ shipping and tax included (6%) after rebate. And even if you dont go for the rebate it was $16.93 w/ shipping and tax included .. how could you be disappointed with that? Even without the rebate it was a solid $3 less than the lowest current available price.

Fry's Ad shows the 2-disc version at $21.99. Advertises the 1-disc at 'Low Price'.
Thought people would like to know, cuz I think that's the cheapest in store price yet. I think though I'm leaning towards the Target version. Only 1$ more for the 3d-cover and comic book?
And forget that Best Buy set. I was at Comic-Con last year and got a full size replica mask. No need for a 'mini' version filling up my dvd shelves.
Is it just me, or does anyone else thing Natalie Portmans face on the coverart ruins it?

Considering how many posts this has gotten, I'm almost convinced I don't need to ask, but...
How's the movie?
I missed it in theaters, but going from the reaction it's gotten online, I'm thinking I might bite without having seen the film beforehand. Heck, the original tagline for the movie (and release date) was my birthday...that's got to be a sign of something, right? ;)

It seemed like the majority of people who saw it, enjoyed it. Many called it this years Sin City, but it's really nothing like it. If you're into the whole 'future controlled by evil government' stuff, you'll probably love 'V.'
