Lets make a list. Top 10 games exclusive to the PS2. But since it is my list, I'm making some rules. Well one really, no RPGs.

Kind of ridiculous to exclude RPGs since it was a genre that Sony really had a lock on. The Xbox and GC were pretty lacking when it came to those.

Why without RPGs (unless you're looking for what to pick up with the PS2 and you hate RPGs)? Some of the best PS2 games were role playing games. In no particular order...

1. Katamari Damacy
2. Shadow of the Collussus
3. Guitar Hero
4. Virtua Fighter 4 Evolution
5. Gran Turismo 4 (not really my type of game but utterly infallible if you're a gearhead who doesn't mind the lack of touch and go online play).

8. Smackdown vs Raw 2006
9. Gungrave (I enjoyed it much more then DMC)

Two reasons why I left them out.

1) There are so many RPGs available for the PS2 that they clog every top ten list. I wanted to see what else the PS2 has to offer

2) I don't have that much time to spend on one game. I chose DQ8 and Star Ocean as the two exceptions, I'll make time for those.

Not sure about Star Ocean (still haven't gotten a chance to play it even though I purchased it immediately after it dropped to $19.99) but I don't like Dragon Quest 8 at that much (purchased it for $39.99 launch). My main problem was that it required me to spend a good number of hours running around just to level up in order to defeat some of the bosses. During the first real fight with Dhoulmagus, I was so happy after defeating him. Only to realize that it was only his first form and that I didn't stand a chance at my current level. I'm not a newbie when it comes to RPG. I have been playing RPG since the snes era.

Wow! I just realized what a great system the PS2 is. For a long time I considered it to be only a slight fraction better than the Cube, but now I see the way. And I didn't even mention God of War or the Metal Gear games because I think they're pretty overrated, but a lot of other people like them, so that's something to take into consideration. I hope the PS3 isn't as good. I don't want to be out 600 bones (or more likely spending a year agonizing on whether or not I should take that kind of plunge).

It's really hard for me to find anything other RPG's that stick out on the PS2 for exclusives. If you were talking about the DC then I'd EASILY be able to do it.
I mean, like on the DC front for originally exclusive FPS like games what else has been as good as Maken X besides Breakdown, Metroid Prime and MAYBE HL and HL2. I've played neither of the latter two so I can't judge.

The system is worthless then.

Jak and Daxter suck, as well as Sly and Ratchet and Clank (just my opinion).
Metal Gear Solid 2 was a disgrace and is no longer system exclusive if you count Substance.
Castlevania sucked, there is no arguing that, if you listed it you only listed it because of the name.

I guess I'll give a vote for the Gran Turismo, Katamari games, perhaps Metal Gear Solid 3, and Mark of Kri.

I saw someone ripping on Rygar earlier on. That is a seriously good and fun game. It runs circles around most of the stuff released now.
