Someone in the New York District Attorney's Office must be an avid GP reader...

Last week, in response to a public tongue-lashing handed out by Congress to the Federal Trade Commission and the ESRB, GamePolitics ran an editorial calling on the House to subpoena Take-Two Interactive and Rockstar directly, since they were the companies at the center of the Hot Coffee fiasco.

A short time ago Reuters reported that Take-Two Interactive received grand jury subpoenas, not from Congress, but the New York County's D.A. for documents relating to the Hot Coffee incident, as well as other financial information dating back to October, 2001. The subpoenas were served on Take-2 on June 19th.

Specifically, the grand jury is seeking documents related to "company officers' and directors' knowledge about the creation and inclusion" of the Hot Coffee sex mini-game, as well as information about the submission of Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas to the ESRB for rating.

Take-Two has not been advised whether this subpoena is part of an investigation targeting the game publisher directly, or is part of some larger probe, possibly into video game ratings. Take-Two claims it is cooperating fully, and said that it has provided the requested documents to the D.A.'s office.

CM: While this isn't the first time Take-Two has been investigated, it is the first time whodunnit documents have been publicly requested. Other lawsuits to date have primarily sought financial information.

Hopefully the grand jury will be able to shed some light on what who knew when during that whole Hot Coffee scandal. It will be interesting to learn whether corporate higher-ups were aware of the mini-game, or whether it was simply mischief created by a low-level programmer.

I guess we'll have to wait for the N.Y. grand jury to complete it's investigation.
It'll be interesting to see what's revealed about the Hot Coffee's creation and scandal.

Was Disney ever investigated/fined this much when all the sex stuff was found in their movies?

The Disney thing is a way bigger deal anyway - because their movies were not about the gangster life.

It's "true" but frankly I've never seen anything that proves to me it's anything more than suggestion ("SEX" in clouds, penis shaped towers, etc). They tell you it's there, so you see it. Whoever the first person is who sees such things has some screws loose.

So there's nothing to sue Disney over, really.

No - there's freeze frames of jessica rabbit naked and a naked pic of tits in The Rescuers (thx Guile)

I of course think its ridicuolous, but going after GTA for licivious content is downright preposterous

In "The Rescuers" there was a pic of a topless woman.

The whole problem is that code is left behind in games all the time (All Bonds in Goldeneye for example), and the game is M to start with. That is why wasting all the taxpayers dollars is silly.

I honestly dont understand this.

The game was rated M for mature = 17+ age group....

AO is only 18+.....

As for what i have only "heard" of whats in this scandle its not much to even consider a higher then a M rating in the first place.

Consider BMX XXX being M rated and had some nice real video footage nudey shots and being M rated...

When will we grow up as a world where Videogames are treated such as movies are?

Bestbuy will sell Playboy Playmate dvds but not BmX XXX ???

This whole thing really pisses me off as an american where WE the people should be able to decide wtf we want to buy/play/do without people getting sued over complete Bullshit.

This is all such bullshit.

I still don't see what the big deal is, ESPECIALLY after God of War has frontal nudity and it still only got an 'M' rating as well. Fucking politicans would rather make a stink over nothing (flag burning, gays marrying, videogame violence/sex) than doing their fucking job.

Oh, you can clearly see the penis in Little Mermaid, see the "SEX" in Lion King, the tits in Rescuers, and hear "take off your clothes" in Aladdin.

Now I've seen the raging hardon of the preist, but supposedly it's his knee bending, but I've NEVER seen anyone's knee bend like that unless they were involved in some sort of accident involving several coconuts and an angry elephant.

I don't get why snopes calls some of them false. It's clear as fucking day in certain situations. I remember freezing Lion King and you can CLEARLY make it out, absolutely no question.

Hehe, "poenaed."

I have seen the priest scene and it looks like a knee to me. The others all seem true though.
