Metroid Prime. One of the best games I've ever played. That said, while the Gamecube didn't have many good games, when a game was good, it was really fucking good. RE 4, Metroid Prime, Tales of Symphonia, Super Smash Bros. Melee - these games were amazing.

Well for the first time ever playing, I found Wind Waker awesome! The graphics were completely new to me and I loved every moment watching Link run. SSBM was also awesome back when I would have friends over for night and play it till we completely crashed. Super Monkey Ball was also a blast, especially multiplayer. I loved Luigi's Mansion since I was younger, was so used to snes/n64 graphics, and these graphics just made my jaw drop. I loved Mario Sunshine. And one of the most recent awesome games I've played has to be Path of Radiance. I've played all the North American ones at least 3 times each, and also the one with Roy as a kid translated. They all are awesome, but PoR and FE7 definitely have the best looking and most fun-to-use characters.

Paper Mario = best single player game on the GC.

Smash Bros. = best multiplayer game on the GC and of all time.

This is almost cruel, picking just one... totally impossible for me to do, so I'm gonna be an ass and pick five:

-- Resident Evil 4
-- Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker
-- Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door
-- Mario Party 6 (Yeah, you heard me)
-- Super Mario Sunshine

I watched the Paper Mario video review on gamespot.
Is it really that good?
Seemed it owuld get repetive after a while and owuldnt have much of a story.
Also, which should I rent first. Fire Emblem or Tales of Symphonia

The story in Paper Mario is a big part of the reason why it's such a great game. The characters are original, the dialogue is funny, and the story offers a number of twists for what's essentially your standard "You're on a quest to save the world" sort of game.

As for Fire Emblem v. Tales of Symphonia, if you prefer a more action-based RPG, go with Tales. If you like slow turn-based strategy and lots of reading, go with Fire Emblem. If both appeal to you equally, flip a coin.

OMG I thought I was the only one who loved 4x4 Evo 2. A very underappreciated racer. It was one of the first titles I picked up (I think the 3rd game I ever owned for GC) and the only reason I got it was cause it was $9.99.

However, it's not my favorite (but on the list, to be sure.)

Since it is so hard for me to name my favorite GC game of all time, I am going to have to go with the game I played the most. And the game I clocked more hours on my GC than any other game is Gladius.

Super Smash Brothers... MELEE!

And Resident Evil 4.

I really, really love alien homind though. My friends have never played it, but it's become one of those odd in-jokes to just shout ALIEN HOMMNNINNIDD at times.

I just got a Cube again and promptly brought Super Mario Strikers. I love this game. I'm addicted to it.

I'm using this thread to help me figure out what else I'm going to buy for it. I also bought Smash Bros and X-Men Legends. I forgot how cool the GameCube is, IMO vastly more fun than the PS2 which is a dust collector for me.

Super Mario Strikers does kick ass.. too bad there isn't more single player content. Multiplayer is one of the best out there though.

I think RE4 was just a little overrated, and its cruel choosing the best GC game, well heres my top 5 anyways

1. Metroid Prime (First Person Adventure, makes you feel like you're actually THERE not to mention Tallon IV is just plain beautful)
2. Super Smash Bros melee (don't even know how many days of my life this game stole from me)
3. Legend of Zelda: Windwaker (to all you guys who think the graphics suck, try playing the game and APPRECIATING the personality that each character has instead of shrugging it off cause it looks "kiddy")
4. Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door (uber RPG its actually FUNNY)
5. Tales of Symphonia (clocked over 50hrs on this game, one of the best rpg's on the cube)

Too hard to pick just one. On my short list would be:

Wind Waker
Eternal Darkness
Prince of Persia 1
Pikmin (either one)
Beyond Good & Evil

My brother was playing Tales of Symphonia for a while. Looked completely stock and bland to me. The quality and pacing of the voices is inexcusably bad. Guess I'm not an RPG guy.

Somehow, even though Super Metroid and Zero Mission are likely both among the ten best games I've ever played, I've never played Prime. Should probably pick that up at some point. Need to get Prince of Persia 3 as well. Hopefully it's better than the pathetic second one, which I sold before finishing.

Resident Evil 4, head and shoulders above everything else that came out this generation. It's been a long, long time since I've played a game where everytime I went around a corner, or through a door, or over a hill I said out loud 'this is awesome' even when no one else was around.

I bought my GCN for Pikmin and I absolutely adore that game to this day. Wind Waker was great, PM:TTYD was great, Jungle Beat is a riot.

Definitely Resident Evil 4. since it isn't a exclusive (but is the definitive version), I guess the best exclusive is Metroid Prime.

SMB1 was all about the puzzles and how good you are at them.
SMB2 was all about luck and no skill at all, it was a poorly designed game and so much worse than SMB1.

I also hate Pikmin 1 with a passion, boy that game sucks. Never player the sequel.

Best Single Player:
Paper Mario (which i play right now)
Metal Gear Solid
Mario Sunshine

I appear to be late to the party, but here are my choices, out of what has been played extensively (therefore RE4 is not included):

Tales of Symphonia
Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance
Lego Star Wars
Killer 7
Mario Baseball/Strikers for multiplayer

Man, I really haven't played games as much as I should have, but those will likely remain my favorites after all 78 games in my collection have been played to death. Path of Radiance was one of those games where you just lean back when you're finished and revel in your victory. ToS was the first game since the SNES that I've immediately restarted (bonus in that it had settings you could change on subsequent playthroughs).

My Top 5:
1.) Super Smash Bros. Melee
2.) Mario Kart: Double Dash
3.) Tales of Symphonia
4.) Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door
5.) Mario Power Tennis

Honorable Mention: Skies of Arcadia Legends

My GCN library isn't as strong as it should be (i.e., no RE4 - I'm not a fan of survival horror; don't have AC or Wind Waker), but I have quality games for the system. Unfortunately, unless I decide to devote some time to BK, SoA Legends or my new (used) Ikaruga I got recently, I need some more RPGs for the system... or imports.

Mario Power Tennis usually gets broken out when my friends are over, with SSBM and Double Dash sometimes. When I started playing Symphonia and TTYD, I got into a groove with those games and didn't play anything else until completion.

honestly, i cant stand the majority of games mentioned in peoples top 5, but i have very unorthodox tastes.

My brother (who owns the GC) has about every gamed mentioned, so that seems to be why people buy the system.

I've been impressed with the mario sports games the most, even though i conventionally hate sports games

Spent a majority of my GC time in Double Dash.
