Hello CAG.

If you don't know about Comic-Con, let me break it down a little bit.

San Diego Comic-Con is going down July 19-23(THU-SUN). There will be WED Preview night again on the 18th for ppl that preregistered and members of the press/industry along with those who receive free preview night passes.

SDCC is the biggest convention of it's kind in the US. It has everything a geek would love and more. Comics, Anime, movies, art, entertainment, video games, collectibles, celebs, Sci-Fi, action figures, and MORE.

Sony is there every year, Capcom will be there again along with UDON. Capcom will be running something special for Street Fighter fans, so don't miss out.

Tons of exclusives that can sell for $$$ on the eBay. Only bad thing is the smell.

Who will be attending this year? :)

I'll be going for my 15th year in a row and running another video gaming tournament. It's going to be the 5th year anniversary SD TEKKEN tournament. Hope to see some of you there!

I live three blocks away. I went once - last time. Really not sure I want to go again, seeing as I don't really care about comics. Convince me.

i'll be there for all 4 days and the preview night. i'd been going to those since i was in elementary, until i moved out of san diego years ago. it'll be my first time back since like 1998.

last year my friend scored me one of those gouken busts and a sketch done by shinkiro mori. wish i coulda been there.

I've got family on the Board of Directors and on the Head of Events Staff, so I'll definitely be there all 4 Days (Free of Course)!

My favorite freebie from last year was the Guy Fawkes Mask (V for Vendetta). I also scored a bunch of free PS2 and XBOX Demos, and a few Alien Hominid Antennas/Ears, among a bunch of other free stuff.

Extremely, Highly, Super doubtful but does anyone think Nintendo will bring a playable Wii to the con? That would be absolutely amazing. But definitely not getting my hopes up at all.

Anyway yeah I'll be there. I hope they have some awesome guests this year. Although on a personal level last years was the best since I got to see Natalie Portman talk about Vendetta.

I really can't wait!

I doubt Nintendo will have a playable Wii...but I'm down to lie to myself just to make myself happy. :)

Nintendo did have a strong showing 2 years ago with a playable RE4. That was awesome.

I went to Comic-Con once 2-3 years ago, and I thought it sucked. It wasn't really my thing, from all the advertisement it seemed like the shit, but it wasn't to me for some reason. Unless they get more game companies involved and make it a mini E3, I'll go. But until than, I'm pretty sure I'm gonna pass again this year.

Carne Asada fries :)

You can get them pretty much in any mexican restauraunt here in SD, or at least the ones I've been to. But note this, when you go to mexican restauraunts, go to the AUTHENTIC ones, not fake ones like Sombrero and Taco Bell.

EDIT: I remember why I went 2-3 years ago, it was because I heard Halle Berry was going to be there to promote her movie CW, but I went the day before she was there which pissed me off!

I was there the year Angelina and Halle went... Halle walked in front of us as she was leaving the convention.. O_O yowzas... I'm glad we decided to walk in the back area of the sail pavillion lol.

Jessica Alba was at the Sin City booth 2 years ago too, lol someone that knew a friend of mine went up to her table as she was taking a picture with a fan and took her soda and drank it lol... too funny.

If you gone to a Comic-Con before then you would know some game companies are actually involved in this event. Some actually have had games out like a mini E3 for people to try out. I remember Namco setting up an area where they had games to play.

It's an entertainment con. It's transformed a lot over the years. I worked Comic-Con booths and been an attendee for like like the last 7 straight years. I have a full pass this year but I probably won't be able to go this year (maybe on Thursday only).

I have a really big favor to ask someone. If someone can pick up something for me at the Upper Deck booth, that would be great. I've recently gotten into playing VS System TCG (it's a TCG based on Marvel and DC comics), and if someone could pick up the exclusive card that they have there (I believe it's Wonder Woman card promo) and maybe anything else free, I would be very very appreciated. I'll even pay for shipping and maybe something extra if you want. You don't have to do it if you don't want to, but if you happen to stop by at the booth, please pick up the card for me (and maybe even learn how to play the game :D).

Thanks a lot!

Im going all four days, it's gonna be sweet. Penny-Arcade booth, Rooster Teeth Booth, Bungie Booth...ohh yeah

Wow, you have some of the booths that I already have had in mind tagged. I was at the PA booth last year, but I didn't have my camera so I couldn't get pics, and they were all out of their first books, but I did get a t-shirt from them and had them sign it for me and I got to chat to them for like a half hour even though they were busy. Really nice guys. This year I've really been doing some saving up even with all the cash I've blown lately, and plan on getting a bunch of shirts (signed) and my PA Volume 1 First Edition signed and this time I'll remember to ask for a sketch. I don't remember Rooster Teeth being there last year, but I'll definitely check them out and pick up all their DVDs if they have them. Bungie....neh. I'll definitely hit up THQ and Capcom. THQ was as good as they were at E3 last year (didn't go to E3 this year (wish I had)). THQ gave out a ton shit be it CDs for Destory all Monsters or Juiced t-shirts or bottle opener key chains, plus a ton more. Darkhorse was also phenomenal and highly recomended. I plan on getting all volumes of The Goon and to finally get Casshern as I missed out last year (Did get the Wision version of the Battle Royales though) and hopefully some other movies.

I'm going to be there again this year. I wish I could order a CAG t-shirt in time, but even with 2 day air it will get to me only after I'm there and it starts. I wish I still lived in Cali. I went to last year's and just walking the show floor is an absolute blast. I'm pre-registering, and I wish I can make it there for all four days, but I have business to attend to Thursday, but I'll be there Friday early morning and I remember that they will be doing a showing/preview for Hellboy 2 and also a showing of the two new Hellboy cartoons with a question session with Guillermo del Toro at 10:30 I believe Friday. I can't find the info now, but does anyone know where/when this will be held?

So if I can download demos from the internet, it sounds like it would be pointless for me to bring it? Except show off the DS video and MP3 playback and GB emulation to anybody who isn't sure they want a flash cart, that is.

On another note, I have no idea what to do today - I took tomorrow and Friday off, but have to work today. Is it worth leaving early and battling through traffic to get home and pick up the pass (whatever it's called) tonight instead of tomorrow? What else is there to do tonight?

The fact that you'll be able to put your DS into "intercept download" mode and almost always be able to find someone who wants a throwdown? Also the awesome potential of Pictochat.

I'd imagine that all the freebies will start to come out Thursday and definitely into the weekend. Last year I couldn't make it for either Thursday or Friday and from what I heard, that's when they gave out a ton of stuff like Devil's Rejects posters/t-shirts, tons of pins (i think last year there was some pin theme or something since everybody had a ton), etc. Did anyone hit up the dealers by any chance? See anything good?

Preview night for Comic-Con was awesome.

Capcom has the best gaming related booth in my opinion. They have tons of retro stuff for sale it's amazing! Bunch of Japanese Rock Man and Street Fighter stuff on display. It's going to be a long weekend.

Square Enix was in the building too showing off a lot of goodies. Nothing really new gaming wise that wasn't at E3. I got to play Elite Beat Agents (Ouendan[but not the same]) some more at the Nintendo booth and more of Castlevania: Portrait of Ruin before the show floor opened. After it opened it was PACKED. Fun stuff. Nintendo was giving out a 10th anniversary Pokemon DS strap to people visiting their booth and playing games.

Also, the Wizards booth is GOLD. Just from Preview night I got a D&D Miniatures starter kit and an Avalon Hill game from their dice rolling game, on top of sundry promo minis.

Does anybody who's going want to demo _any_ DS title, American or Japanese, that they've never been able to find? PM me for details.

I wish I was going, i'd pick me up one of these sweet Nemesis Prime/Doge Ram figures:

How much are the tickets? Is the smell really that bad?

If anyone's going could hooke me up with a figure (if its less than $30) let me know and I'll pay cost + shipping+handling.

Oh wow, I didn't know it did that (it was in its lame truck form)! Unfortunately FFMooglestar and I tried to get one but they sold out for today (the line was ridiculously long for these). There will be more tomorrow though (that's the first stop I'm going to make), I'll see if I can get you one. It's $24.99 just to let you know. I took a picture of it while it was inside a viewing case, and just realized that I forgot to take off the flash, so it messed up the picture.:hot:

It was alright. The games on display from what I remember: FF III, Mario Hoops, some music beat game, some pokemon game, and Castlevania: Portrait of Ruin (there were more but I think those were the highlights). I also saw at the Capcom booth Phoenix Wright: Justice for All. The download station was pretty LAME in my opinion. It would put you in queue if other people were ahead of you, and the majority of the items were just movies. Actually let me gather some pics I took, I'm kind of too tired to write about it. I'll make a thread later with most of my pics. But for a now, just a small sample for you CAGs of the video game related things I saw (I'll get more up later):

Horrible news!

Capcom is only giving the stylus away to anyone who buys a phoenix wright game!

Sorry to everyone on my list of people to get a stylus for.

On a side note I picked up the comic for Cag1000, so expect a PM shortly.

Can you believe they sold out Phoenix Wright on the first day? Anyway, some video game related stuff I got was a stylus from Buena Vista games for trying out Spectrobes on the DS, and I also took a Memory Stick Duo from the Sony Booth (only 32 mb, and I think they were only intended for people who brought their PSPs and wanted some download from Sony) I'm sad I missed the pokemon wriststrap though. Also Square Enix had a large booth with the FF7 Dirge of Cerebrus demo.

Yeah the Tenacious D movie looks sick as hell. Samuel L was pretty awesome. I love how almost every question involved the words motherfucker. Though the best part of the his Q&A for me was when the guy asked if the snakes deserved to die and he responded "Yes they deserve to die! And I hope they burn in hell!"

I've got family on the Board of Directors and on the Head of Events Staff, so I'll definitely be there all 4 Days (Free of Course)!

Okay, you've got to talk to your family (on the BoD) about getting Axe or Tag to be a sponsor next year because the stank level was off the chart in the exhibition hall. They could give away a trial size in the freebie table bag that comes with registration. I swear, it smelled like vomit downstairs. And someone actually vomited upstairs because there was sawdust on the floor with a "Wet Floor" sign.

Haha, I'll see what I can do about getting that going orimental.

Anyway the last 2 days at the con were a blast.

Spent the entire first half of the day in Hall H on saturday. Got to see Frank Miller, and the trailer for "The 300" which looks amazing. After that the program just read "Robert Rodriguez presents Grindhouse." Rodrigues came out and talked for a minute or two and then I went fucking nuts when he called out Quentin Tarantino. The fun didn't stop there as as many of the female stars took the stage including Rose McGowan and Rosario Dawson. First of all Grindhouse seems fucking amazing and the trailer they put together for one of the Grindhouse flicks, "Planet Terror" was one of the most bad ass looking movies I have ever seen. I can not wait for Grindhouse to come to theatres.

It sucked that Kevin Smith missed his early panel, but I still ended up making the 6:45 rescheduled Q&A. Kevin was funny as always. Then later that night we went over to the theatres and watched Clerks II for a second time and did another Kevin Smith Q&A.

Today was pretty decent. Scored alot of swag today. I finally managed to pick up the DS Wrist Strap from the Nintendo booth, all I had to do was ask one of the dudes in the blue shirts.

By the way, did anyone get to spin the wheel at the CBS Jericho booth? I didn't do it til this morning, but the prizes were crazy. All of the landing panels on the spin wheel were basically just DVD Seasons for CBS Shows. My brother got CSI:NY Season 1 and his wife and I both got Numb3rs Season 1. Crazy prizes.

Scored a bunch of free shirts today and the Grudge 2 Stress relief ball from room 20A for the Grudge 2 panel. Takashi Shimizu seemed pretty cool, and I seeing Amber Tamblyn fun.

I'm sad to wake up tomorrow and not get to go to comic-con. Oh well. It was definitely fun while it lasted. I'll post a pic of all my swag a little later.

So I went yesterday and overall had a great time. I got there about 8am to get in the line to volunteer and had to wait about an hour to finally get a badge. I checked out the 1st floor till my volunteer shift, which was from 1pm to 4pm. My work consisted of moving boxes of those bags, schedules, and souvenir books to the 4 tables just past the registers where people buy their badges. It was hard work but at least I didn't have to pay $30 for one day.

As for the stuff I bought, since Sat was the only day I was able to go, I brought $200 to spend. $30 of it was already spent, since I needed to pay my friend back who picked up Phoenix Wright with the stylus for me on Thursday. After looking around, I didn't see too much that I wanted to get. So on a somewhat impulse I bought those Capcom Vs SNK 2 figures. They were $10 each and if you bought 4 the dealer was giving away a silver Haohmaru. Another guy who was also looking at the figures mentioned that he wanted Iori but the dealer said that Iori, Chun Li, and Ryu were the ones that sold out the fastest. He wanted our names so we can get a list for Sunday's lot but neither of us were gonna be there tomorrow. So he gave us a discount, $35 for 5 figures. I figured it wasn't a bad deal and I thought the figures were pretty sweet. I also didn't want to leave the con empty handed. :)

I also pre-ordered for next year's Comic Con. It was only $40 for the 4 day pass with the preview night. I'll definately do more next year and check out panels and showings and whatnot.

Pictures! (http://comiccon07.charlemagnec.com/)

After Preview night I was a little disappointed because there wern't as many exhibitors as last year, and then Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, I was gone to Vegas. Luckily I made it back to the Con Sunday and boy was it worth it. Not only did I score a Saw III T-Shirt from Lionsgate, I also was able to snag a Grudge II hat. But you ain't heard nothin' yet.

My buddies gave me $20 on a dare to paint my face like the Jigsaw dummy, I took it, and ended up winning the Raffle of the DVD's...

Saw
Saw II
Waiting
The Grudge
The Ultimate Avengers

and I few others I can't place my mind on. But it's STILL not over.

My best friend won the raffle for the Tick Cartoon show DVD and gave it to me for the $20 he paid me to paint my face.

All in all it was a awesome day at the Con. See you guys next year.

So did you guys open up your Nemesis Prime or sold it on ebay?

I'm keeping mine sealed for now, even though Im so tempted to open it up and display it.
