I will never trade in games. 1. its insulting, the price they offer and 2. it takes away from building a massive library.

I disagree with both those points. I would rather get $5 for a game I will never play again, instead of nothing at all. And this whole "building a library" thing is dumb, in my opinion. I got into gaming to play games. If I don't have any good games to play at the moment, what good are the games I DO have just sitting there looking pretty on a shelf?
Anyways, I traded in some games about a week and a half ago. Those games were:
GRAW
Oblivion
MLB 06: The Show
Psychonauts
MVP 06 NCAA Baseball
Jak 2
Jak 3
Sly 2
Ratchet and Clank
Ratchet and Clank: Going Commando
Half Life (PS2)
Strike Force Bowling
Some crappy fishing game
Dark Cloud 2
Ultra Bust a Move
Super Bust a Move 2
Sphinx
Silent Hill 3
Wild Arms 3
I ended up getting Steambot Chronicles (New, $49.99), DMC Special Edition (Used, $17.99), NFL Head Coach (New, $39.99, but it sucks and I'm gonna trade it in when NCAA 07 comes out in 3 weeks), and Top Spin 2 (Used, $34.99). And since I used a coupon from GI, I got Mega Man Anniversary Collection for free ($17.99 value). Oh, and I still have $81 in credit left. So, I took all those games, ones I know I would NEVER play again, games that are USELESS as a "library" on a shelf, and turned them into 5 games I'll be playing well into the fall, plus $81 in future games.

yeah that is way off...i'd rather get $5 towards a newer game than nothing and have it on the shelf collecting dust...i would MUCH rather have 3 new GOOD games that I actually play than have 20 games, none of which that I play, on my shelf.
if you wanna build a collection then that's great, but no one really gives a shit if you aren't gonna trade any games in ever. this thread isn't "who will ever trade in games", it's "what were the last games you traded in".
oh yeah, and I traded in a whole bunch of games at the trade in 4 get an extra 10 bucks...most were older sports games like ESPN NBA, NFL, NCAA, and NHL 05..the only game that had any decent value was RE4...plus i traded in my GC for $50.
i ended up with over $100 for stuff I would have NEVER touched again. and then I picked up some 360 games used since it was B2G1 free and got a new More card and subscription to GI.

I totally disgree with your points also.I agree on most agruements by VanillaGorilla. The whole point of having video game is to enjoy them rather looking at them as eye candy.I got pretty good tradin values at ebgames today.Traded Kingdom Hearts 2,Nintendogs and Kingdom under Fire Heros for $76.89 credit.

it's really been so long, I can't even remember. Not that I have a problem like the other poster does but I usually just trade or ebay when I need money.

I can't remember - maybe Capcom Fighting Evolution. I rarely trade in anything from my collection anymore, because nine times out of ten I end up regretting it. If I ever part with something, it's because I really didn't like the game and would never want to play it again.
I take the opposite approach to the logic you guys are using - I'd rather pony up $5 cash than to give away a game I may want to pay again for that. If I ever DO decide I want to play the game again, then even if I could manage to get it back for what I traded it in for, often it won't be in nearly as good of condition. When trading in I ask myself, "If I saw this game in a store new for the price they're offering me, would I buy it?" If yes, I don't trade it.
It doesn't bother me if other people want to trade their stuff into EB - it just gives me a bigger selection if I'm ever looking for anything used. But it's definitely not something I'm in the habbit of doing. :)

I think... it was some extra copies of Hitman 2 (PS2) that I picked up a long time to trade in for some trade in deal at EB.

I'm not against people getting rid of their games, but wow, learn to sell stuff on Ebay, you'll make alot more then EB / GS will ever give you, espically on newer games.
The only use EB / GS have to me is when I'm dumping games that don't even sell on Ebay for $1 (Mark of Kri) towards a trade-in deal.
Here's what I'm trading in tommorrow:
Total Overdose
LOTR: Two Towers
LOTR: Return of the King
Mark of Kri
Rise of the Kasai
Downhill Domination
Either these games don't sell for shit, or Gamestop is going to give me more then I could get due to the trade 3 get an extra $10 deal. I think I'll pay off Valkyrie Profile PSP with the credit.
I agree through, having a library is stupid, which is why I'm purging mine. Having 1000 games is great until all they've done for the last few years is just sit on a shelf gathering dust.

Traded in Condemned and Madden 2006. Beat Condemned, which has no replay value whatsoever, and Madden was incredibly disappointing.
I'm still debating whether or not to pony up $60 for Madden 2007 for the 360, due to being ripped off with the lack of features in Madden 2006.
And whoever used the word pony in this thread, now I'm using it as a verb now. DAMN YOU!!!

I trade in game when the numbers are strongly in my favor. I had a pile of green label games from TRU sitting in my car for over a year. Mostly Primal and Reel Fishing III. They were less than a buck each and left over from the $10 bonus EB Games offer last year that so many of us used to reduce a PSP purchase to a fraction of the normal cost.
Well, that $10 bonus came around again, so I finally got rid of those games and got a nice pile of credit instead.
Other than that kind of situation, I don't usually find it very cost effective to do trade-ins at the big chain stores like EB/GS, GR, and GC. There are independents that give better prices in cash near me and when that is inadequate private sales to other individiuals. I don't use eBay much anymore. It's gotten to be too much of a hassle and the combined fees from the auction and PayPal too much of a bite. Since I live in a major population center I can usually find people by other means for a more profitable transaction.

Disagree. Sometimes I'll feel like playing through a game that I liked just to have fun with it again, and if I've traded it in that means I'll have to rent it or buy it again instead of just picking it off the shelf. Doesn't mean I don't trade games in, just ones I pretty certain I'll never play again. Like Downhill Domination, I loved that game and still have it on my shelf because sometimes I'll pull it out again for multiplayer or because I just feel like playing a quick race.
Trading a game in for the little amount EB/GS pays then regretting the desicion later it more stupid to me than having a library of games I can play for whenever I feel like it (besides friends borrow games from me all the time). Not that I've gone overboard into he 1000's like some people though.

About two years ago I traded in Maximo and Dark Cloud, because I wasn't very fond of either game.

If you don't find it cost effective to trade into Gamerush, you're obviously trading in the wrong games. GR is the only store that will give you $24 trade-in credit on a $6 - $10 game.
Hell, there was a time when I'd buy two games for $10 a piece, was getting $54 in trade-in credit, so it was like getting any new release for $20.
Hell, GR was even giving $35 for some 360 games when EB / GS was giving $20 - $25.

That presumes I have such items for trade-in. I don't buy new releases unless some unusual circumstance makes them below 50% of their SRP and they're highly attractive.
Taking games from a sale and immediately using them for trade-ins is a different issue. I still find it more convenient to deal with a place like GameDude for that since it is for cash and not credit. If I, for instance, spend about $300 at the recent GR sale, a fair number of those games will be immediately turned around for cash and that deposited to my checking account, waiting for the next invoice from the TRU Visa to come due. (As I've mentioned before, I do nearly everything on that VISA and get 1% back as TRU credit.) The games I sell for a profit cover or mostly cover the cost of the games I keep for myself. Ending up with ten new games with the primary expense being gas for the car is pretty spiffy.
In the old days, before sites like CAG were around, I actually made a fair amount of money on this process. Sears had a blowout sale in 1999 that had me making about $40 on eBay for every $10 spent on a game for myself. It almost seemed like Sears was doing this solely for my benefit since nobody else seemed to know about the sale.
I have this funny need to seek out a deal, even using credit acquired at a massive discount. The only time I can bring myself to pay full price for a game, even using free or nearly free credit, is for a newly launched machine. The last time was when the PSP launched and I had a huge amount of credit from EB that ocst me about $1.50 for every $10 worth. Obviously, there weren't going to be any great deals on PSP games at the time the system wa launching, so I was content to get a starter set of games for cheap. But now, for me to pay full price for a new PSP game, even using my TRU credits, is going against my grain.
I have far too many games, so this policy slows the acquisition rate a bit. The closest I've come to buying new full price games recently was the B2G1 DS deal at TRU last week. USing entirely gift cards from the TRU Visa I got three DS games that are still full priced in all venues otherwise. Even using the gift cards it didn't feel right until I could get 3 games for the price of 2. Plus the coupon for $5 off each!
I have a huge collection but my out of pocket cost is remarkably low. Less than $2K for the last 20 years. I am now dropping the SNES, Genesis, and Genesis add-on games to reclaim some of my living space but I can bring myself to do this with the knowledge that it will soon be possible to replace any of the games I find I still really want to play for very low prices in a form that takes up nearly zero space. When you can have a couple dozen of your favorite N64 games on one SD card, it's hard to begrudge the space consumed by a Wii system. Just that fraction of the games that drew high resale prices is more than enough to buy the Wii and a bunch of downloads. And I still have about 6 cubic feet of games to sell!

I never trade in or sell my games. I've had a gamecube since launch and have gone back to every single one of my games at some point during that time and beat them over. Even if it took 4 years. I'm not a fan of trading 20 games for 5 like that one guy did. Eventually that 5 becomes 2, that 2 becomes 1, then you got 1 game. Heck I'd sooner have 20 games I thought I'd never play again. Plus I spend 60-70 bucks on a game then I'm expected to sell it for 10 bucks? Just rent if you're going to do that. Why do you even buy??!!! See just spend 40 bucks on renting, and I'm sure any game can be beaten with that kind of money invested in to a rental and you'd end up saving money!

Trading in games is far inferior to trading games on CAG, or even selling on eBay, will never trade in again outside of a possible trade 5 for 1 if they ever have that again.
Last game I traded in was Capcom vs. SNK 2 for $5.50 2 years ago from the CC $5 sale.
Anyways, I traded in some games about a week and a half ago. Those games were:
Oblivion
...ones I know I would NEVER play again, games that are USELESS as a "library" on a shelf

So I can talk off-topic while remaining on-topic....
Traded in two PDZs and a Path of Neo. Wee.
My stance on trading used to be "I will never part with anything," much like my toy collection from twenty years ago. The difference is CAG. CAG helped me amass almost 200 GC, GBA, and DS games in a year period. Do I want all those games? Eh, debatable. Do I need all those games? No. Will I ever put a decent amount of time into most of them? No. Are there a dozen DS and Wii games coming out in the next 6 months that I will buy no matter how many GameCube games sit on my shelf yet to be played? Hell yes. So far those reason, I'm paring it down slowly for the first time... my NES, SNES, etc will remain untouched, but since I didn't buy many games then, all of them are either highly replayable (SNES RPGs and the like) or worth absolutely nothing (most NES games).
However, at this point I'm only trading games I don't really care about that can get me near the same cost in trade-in as what I paid for it which, also thanks to CAG, isn't that hard since most of them were sub-$15.
