Let me get this straight - approximately 50% of the DS' out there already have a New Super Mario Bros. cart to go with them? Thats what I call good market penetration! I knew the Brain Training games were big in Japan, but I didn't know Mario did THAT well too...

No, I believe the numbers in parentheses are year to date totals, not overall totals. I believe the total sales for the DS in Japan are somewhere around 9 million.

When you combine New Super Mario Brothers Japanese sales and US sales it's around 2.3 million units. We'll be seeing more 2D Mario platformers on the DS. :D
