I bought Berserk awhile back, and now I actually want to play it, but I currently have no way of doing so. I've searched around the net a bit and have come up empty handed on any kind of PS2 boot disk information.
I know I definitely don't want to put a mod chip in it just to play one game. Are there any boot disks available, and do you guys know where to get them from?

yes, but it's a 2 part job. load cd/dvd and then use a "key" to open the ps2 without hitting eject.... pop in the import you want to play, and it "should" play.
some people don't like this as it can stress your ps2 cd-drive motor

I dont know about a bootdisk... but there is a special tool that does what the 2nd poster said, or u could jsut break off the disk tray cover (the thing that holds the P) and then use a knife to do thetrick.

Or just buy a Japanese PS2....
You can get a used one for about $120 (maybe less).
It'll play ALL your import PS2/PS1 games and R2 DVDs.
Instead of wasting money on a mod chip/slide card, just go for the real deal.

You can buy a flip-top case mod, which voids your warranty, but doesn't strain your drive the way you would with the key.
OR, you could get a PS3, which is region-free (though it's unclear if that means PS3 games only, or all PS games but no movies). Like I told someone else, "region-free" seems pretty straightforward, but so did "backwards compatible" for 360 owners. ;)
Now, if you plan on getting a PS3, just have some patience. If not, the case mod is your safest bet and will maintain the longevity of your PS2 longer.
