We are looking to get a new mac at work. I was wondering if over the course of a year that the mac stores have any deals/promotions. Can you haggle with them etc...

Nope. The best you can do is get an "education" discount. People enrolled in university or employed in K-12 or university can get onto the same Apple store site year-round that has slightly reduced prices on iPods (~$20-40 less) and computers (~$100-200 less).
The only kind of Apple promotion I've ever seen involves a mail-in rebate for the price of an iPod if you buy a new Mac and the iPod at the same time. But, let's face it, mail-in rebates suck.

Amazon, sometimes gives rebates on macs.
Also, online stores like macmall.com give you some free goodies for buying a mac. But the best deal the education discount.
