Not sure if this has been posted yet... but there's a big bracket style tournament over at GameFAQs.... Here's some info:

You've voted on the best game of all time, but what's the best series ever created? Game series are often greater than the sum of their parts; while individual games in a series are sometimes forgettable, it's the whole thing that people remember. The users of GameFAQs have nominated 32 game series and it's time to let them battle it out. Starting July 1st, the 32-series winner-take-all tournament will begin. Using the Poll of the Day to decide, the most popular series will take the title of Best. Series. Ever.
Your mission is simple: Guess which series will win each day's battle. Fill out your best guess at how the final brackets will turn out, and win a prize. Don't forget: This is not a contest to see which series is everybody's favorite, or even which one is the best to play. It's all a big popularity contest, and visitors who have never visited GameFAQs before will be sure to stop in and vote.
For the first round of 16 polls, picking the correct series that wins that day's poll will score one point. For each successive round, picking the winner will earn double the points of the round before (Round 2: 2 points, Round 3: 4 points, Semi-Finals: 8 points, Final: 16 points). The sum of all points earned is your final score.
A valid GameFAQs Universal account is required to create a bracket, and in order to be eligible for the prizes, you must provide your real name and address. Once you fill out your bracket initially, you can make as many changes as you like, but you can only enter for prizes once per household or Internet connection, so if you share board accounts with others, make sure only one of you enters a prizes-eligible bracket. Due to legal restrictions, only US residents may enter the contest for prizes, but anyone with an account may enter a bracket (or more than one) for fun and bragging rights.
Remember: This is a popularity contest, and nothing more. While we do make every effort to stop individuals from voting numerous times without restricting anyone from voting that wants to legitmiately, outside forces can and will attempt to push the vote for their favorite. As in the past, we reserve the right intervene in the daily tally when there is a clear evidence of mass voting fraud. Take all of the above into the account when filling out your bracket!
This year's prizes are as follows:
- First Place: A $400 online store gift certificate
- Second and Third Place: A $250 online store gift certificate
- Fourth and Fifth Place: A $150 online store gift certificate
- Sixth-Tenth Places: A $50 online store gift certificate
It's right there on the main page just click on the big banner... Right now it's Fire Emblem vs. Silent Hill and here's the current score:

Time: Now, Fire Emblem: about 41,000 votes, Silent Hill: about 31,000 votes percents: FE: 56%, SH: 44%

Here's the link to the scoring site: http://www.gamefaqscontests.com/drupal/node/22?matchnum=2430

So far my bracket has been perfect except I have Silent Hill going over Fire Emblem which doesn't look like it's going to happen. I think it's too late to put brackets in but you can still vote. SO GO VOTE FOR SILENT HILL SO I CAN WIN SOME CASH! YEAH. :)

Let's hold each other close while we drown in a pool of our own overestimates :(

1. Gamefaqs is very heavily RPG-biased.
2. The average age is like 12-15, so I doubt many of them have played Silent Hill

You already know it's gonna be Mario, Zelda, or Final Fantasy.

It was pretty much the same thing when they did those character battles in previous years.

I know, and I have Mario beating Zelda in the finals... I could still win the whole thing, but after today I'm gonna be down 2 points... no biggie... but I was hoping to keep it perfect as long as possible.

The average age is probably a teenager. As in like, 14-19 or something.

Seriously, isn't Mario the greatest franchise? Only one fuckup (Sunshine mario) but it wasnt that bad.

I have all 4 silent hills - but they are very damn hit or miss.

So far, my brackets are perfect. But I think it'll end pretty soon because I just noticed that I chose Halo over Kingdom Hearts.

I had Silent Hill also, but I don't think it will matter much. I expect Metal Gear to beat out Fire Emblem next round anyway

i picked halo to win two matches, so I guess that sucks... other than that perfect so far.

definitely picked castlevania. hardly a crappy game in the entire series besides the N64 abortions.

i'm surprised they're even having this-- every time I've gone there since they changed the site, the survey has been for marketing.

I think they have these 2 or 4 times a year... and yeah Castlevania is great but this is a popularity contest... I definitely thought Halo would go over CV... SH would go over FE... and I have GTA over Warcraft... now it's looking like that won't happen either.

I am very surprised Halo is down by 10% right now. So far, it's my only mistake.

My money is on Metal Gear vs. Shadow Hearts... I am hoping Metal Gear gets it though.

I was too lazy to fill out the bracket, but it's obviously going to come down to the big three again

They should just exclude those games from the tourney and say they are already winners.

damnit, all right except the halo one... I also picked halo to beat kingdom hearts and that clearly is impossible.

That's where they need to redo the whole thing again and cover series with very small or smaller fanbases such as adventure island or whatever.

1The Legend of Zelda Civilization98.15%
2Suikoden Mega Man X77.84%
3Pokemon Star Ocean83.74%
4MetroidKirby89.22%
5Metal Gear Soul Calibur88.25%
6Fire Emblem Silent Hill50.65%
7Castlevania Halo31.49% how is it possible that only 31% of people got the castlevania one right? Do people not vote for who they have in their brackets? Or did that many people just not have a bracket?
I've only missed one myself, and that was the Suikoden/Megaman X one...
