EDIT 7/15/06: Further price drops across all systems. Also, there is now a thread tracking games that qualify for Rhino's 2-for-1 deal here, courtesy of kjauburn: http://www.cheapassgamer.com/forums/showthread.php?t=100697

Looks like Rhino is having a big clearance across all systems. I don't have a complete list, not even close - but here are a few that stood out when I was there:

Darkwatch (xbox) - $7.50
PoP: The Two Thrones (ps2) - $14.50
MGS Acid 2 - $19.50

There were TONS more, again, across all systems. The manager told me they were going to be doing more markdowns in the coming weeks as well.

And before anyone asks, Rhino is a chain that's mainly in the Southeast, but has been spreading out some so I didn't put this in regional. And they have a website, but they don't sell anything on it.

Yeah, I saw it at mine, but nothing was marked down more than $5. It was a really, really shitty clearance. Like Urban Chaos: Riot Response was on "clearance", 39.99 down to 34.90.

I saw a few that were only $5 or so, but quite a few of the games I looked at were marked down much further. I imagine the prices are the same store to store, but it's obviously ymmv as far as selection goes.

EDIT: Another one I just rememebered was Legend of Heroes II for the PSP, which was down to $24.50. I asked her didn't that just come out, and she said that's the same thing she thought when she saw that markdown.

the ones around here are starting to have decent clearance items. There has been 5 different Rhinos in this town. Currently 3 still open.

Went today and there were quite a few games marked clearance. Overall there are several that are a pretty good deal. Here are some of the clearance titles. I mainly looked at the xbox 360, ds, and psp areas. There were quite a titles marked down and the majority of them were still on the wall. Remember most of the time they only have 1 or 2 copies of a game on hand with the display copy being open.

Me & My Katamari 19.50
Pac-World 3 19.50
Legends of Heroes II 24.50
Generation of Chaos 24.50
Street Fighter Alpha Max 24.50

DS
Tax 9.50
Rayman 9.50
Burnout Legends 14.50
Finding Nemo 15.50
Tao's Adventure 19.50

Phew, at least this sale's not such a killer, as my wallet's already drained twice over. Looks like I'll try to get MGS Acid 2 and Me & My Katamari even though I refuse to upgrade my PSP anyway. Thanks for the tip off. Without any good games this time of year for me to do the Trade 2 deal, I haven't been to Rhino in a while and have just been trading at GR and EB/GS.

they had a lot of "rare" hard to find games at the ones in UT..but the prices were so outrageous.. like they had several PS1 rarities (nothing like Suikoden but those low print run collector or niche games like Raystorm) and Ogre battle 64 and harvest moon 64.. but they wanted above what they were going for on ebay for.. i should have picked up "super aquatic games of the aquabats" for my girlfriend..cuz she liked it.. but they closed.. shitty selection and bad prices in my opinion better off finding a cooler game at EB/GS

that sucks. I would love a game with the aquabats. Just think a level for all the classic songs, I would love a "captain hampton vs. the midget pirates" level, or a boss fight against the "powderedmilkman"

Yes, they did - and luckily, many of the ones that qualified were the more common ones so I didn't fee like a hoarder taking advantage of them. ;)

Anyway, I went today armed with credit and came away with the following:

PS2:

Tales of Legendia - $39.50 (I had decided to get this one at full price, so the $10 I saved was nice if not spetacular)
PoP: The Two Thrones - $14.50

Xbox:

Darkwatch - $7.50
Project: Snowblind - $9.50
Time Splitters: Future Perfect - $4.50
Rainbow Six: Lockdown - $9.50
King Kong - $12.50
Star Wars: Republic Commando - $15.50

All of those were still sealed except for Snowblind, but I checked it before I left and it looks untouched.

I tell you, Rhino is the #1 place I get new releases these days. Look around a little, and you can almost always find a great deal on something that qualifies for their 2-for-1 deal. I have over $400 in store credit stockpiled right now for the fall, and I average spending $10 cash for every $25 credit.

They may not have the selection of new games that EB/GS has, but they sure as heck beat them in price once you factor that in.

For the past few years, I've only bought new releases at Rhino with the Trade 2 deal and at GameRush with the $29.99 preorder deals. Unfortunately the summer months are lacking in good new releases. Otherwise, I don't think I've spent more than $30 for a new game (including 360 titles) outside of music games and my Indigo Prophecy preorder.

How'd you build up your credit? Were you able to use the Trade 2, Get 1 Free deal and convert it to general credit instead of games?

Last time I really check was during 9.99 CC sale before the clearance. I traded in some Marc Ecko's, Matrix, and Infected and haven't bothered since. They don't qualify anymore.

More recently I know Radiata Stories and Castlevania Curse PS2 will work. The general rule of thumb is if they sale it for $24.99 they buy it for $10. Anything they buy for $10 will qualify. I usually walk around the store and scan prices to find a couple to work. It seems we have more Rhino shoppers on the site then a year ago. We could never keep a thread going last fall more then a day or two. Maybe there is enough of us now to create a good list of qualifying games...

I wonder if this chain will stay around long enough to spread from Kentucky into Indiana. There's always room for another video game store in Indianapolis...we only have around 100 game stores right now.

Its been shrinking this year and over 25 stores have closed this year. For the most part it looks like blockbuster consolidated it back into the southeast. They are trying to sell it right now to a chain without stores in the area or they are hoping the previous owner buys it back. BB needs every dollar to keep chapter 11 at bay as longer as possible. They already sold off or closed MTC, Mr. Movies, King movies, etc. this year. Truthfully I won't be surprised if they close up shop after christmas if they don't sell the chain. The chain has a long history and I believe the future of the chain may be in the hands of the previous owner.

Correct me if I am wrong but outside of TN, SC, NC, AL, GA, LA, and FL there are only 4 stores. 7 stores are in NC/SC and 4 in LA. Almost 80% of the stores are now in 4 states...

Damn I didn't realize they had 94 stores at the beginning of the year. They must be under 60 now. I believe there were 41 stores when blockbuster bought them in May, 2004.

The manager at my store doesn't have a problem letting me 2-for-1 for pre-orders, and then just cash those in later for whatever I want. This may be ymmv according to your manager tho. If that fails, you can always try just picking up a $50 game they have in stock and then returning it a few days later before your 7-day return window is up.

Definantly a YMMV thing, most of the mamagers I talk to frown upon that.. Ive just been doing the 2 for one on 360 games,,, pretty nice to get new 360 games for half the price most of the time (a couple of 9-10 dollar CC games and either another CC game that trades for 13-14 dollars or pay the difference)...picked up KH2 on release date for basically 20 bucks in cost

Funny thing here is all 4 stores in the Area: Theodore, Saraland, P'Cola, and good ol Semmes (about 5 minutes from home) have all opened since Decenber of last year or later... Ive tried telling alot of people about this place even here on CAG, but they seem too stubborn, thinking EB/GS is still the only game in town

Although my good friend got hooked on the 2 for one by myself... but still took about 3 or 4 months of telling him about it before it registered (in that time he picked up a 360 , PSP, and PS2 giving him reason to do this

Which really doesn't make any sense imo. I mean, they're out a $50 game either way. The way they tell me it's all legit anyway - they say you can 2-for-1 a preorder, and there's nothing wrong with changing your mind on that preorder later. But heck, if the store would actually preorder games I wanted, I wouldn't have to swap the credit around. Ah well....

I wish I had a list for the 2-for-1 trade in, because I can never seem to find a combo that works. I might have to stop by there tonight, as well as the one in Auburn (stocked WAY better). If anybody could come up with a decent list of games (maybe a Rhino CAG around??), that would rule.

It hasnt really mattered because there had been alot of 360 games, PSP, PS2 etc games I wanted from the deal, I did it a while back to convert the credt for use on 360 games (before they included them in the deal)...

I dont see where people complain about the prices at Rhino, most of the items Ive noticed were a couple bucks cheaper... such as a 50 new game selling for 44.99 or under at Rhino compared to the prices GS charges

They still take trade ins on used guides making a penny guide worth 50 cents credit

They allow a 7 day trial on all game purchases, returning game if you simply dont like it

Have lifetime guarantee on games purchased (manufacturer defects I believe)

Part of me wants the chain to continue to grow, but I like the fact no one takes advantage of their 2 for 1 trade in deal... any game that they sell for 24.99 used and over (making it worth 10 trade in price) is eligible... games like V tennis, Genji, K revolution, Geist have all been examples of 10 dollar and under games that were good IN THE PAST towards this deal...

We abused the trade 2 get 1 for 99 cent deal here in Jacksonville, FL using the Circuit City deals. Here's a list of the games we were able to use:

Castlevania: Curse of Darkness (PS2, XBOX)

Delta Force: Black Hawk Down (PS2)

Monster Hunter (PS2)

Nightmare Before Christmas (PS2)

Test Drive: Eve of Destruction (PS2)

AND THE GREATEST DEAL OF ALL TIME:

Holy crap Total overdose works now?... I need to trade that in pronto if it is still good... since I just happened to pick up one last week from CC, I remember being told NBC was 8 or 9 dollars trade in when asking about it... but I can try again, Ive been wanting to pick up Prey

zman73

Damn Total overdose gets 14 dollars store credit... took and traded a 7 dollar copy of infected and a nine dollar copy of Oogie's Revenge which traded in for the ten dollars each to do the 2 for one on Prey CE, added in the Total overdose (4 dollars at CC) for 14 credit to help pay the overage cost (you only get 50 dollars max on the 2 for one, anything priced higher you have to pony up yourself or trade in other games...

in all got a brand new copy of Prey CE for about 27-28 dollars in costs... not bad at all

Got a SUPER trade in game, if one can find a used copy of MYV music generator (got mine for TWO DOLLARS FROM CC) it also trades in for ten making it a really cheap 2 for one... its rare one can find sub five dollar games that are valid on this

Will do my next 2 for one when Dead Rising is released :)

And Zman, if something trades in for $9 or more, does that mean it qualifies for the 2 for 1 deal?

$10 or more qualifies. About 95%+ of the time if they sell it for $24.99 they buy it for over $10...

I only picked up Total Overdose on a whim since I only picked up one other game for myself from the sale that day from CC (Exit)... wouldnt have even thought it would have qualified or I'd have bought the other 2 copies there (this was a CC out of town where none of the 8.96 games had even been marked down, even though it was the "start" of the official sale... it made a nice filler game to help make up the 20 dollar difference on the 70 dollar cost of Prey CE and the 50 they give as part of the 2 for one deal... Id have kept the game otherwise , but that was a sweet trade in on a four dollar game

Ive occasionally (rarely) spotted 24.99 games in store at Rhino where they actually trading in for LESS than the 10 dollar mark needed for the promo, I just attribute that to not updating prices on the shelves, which they are normally good at (although my 19.50 Full Auto WAS marked 24.50...

Rhino has only been in my area for a short time but I IMMEDIATELY picked up on the 2 for one as my first trip to my Rhino was the exact SAME DAY the TRU 9.99 X-mas clearance began... awesome... picked up Disgaea, Rez and other game for around the price they were worth to me

Im am still amazed this store doesnt get more positive reviews on here... I was amazed to see it listed in the nominations for worst B&M retailer... Take for example, when KH2 came out... obviously the game was 50 everywhere, I got mine for the trade in of 20 dollars worth of games... thats pretty good

Damn... oh well... I guess it is still a decent credit builder on a 4 dollar game... glad I got in on the 14 dollar value though

Thats why its always important to call in for values the day you will trade, I made the mistake of ordering TC:NYC CE for XB when Amazon had them on sale for 9.99 because Rhino told me they gave 25 bucks for it... what a difference a few days make... I get the game and call up... seven dollars, not even enough to get the $25 in credit by even using the 2 for one because it didnt even get 10 dollars

Killer 7 (GC)- 4.50
Battalion Wars (GC)- 24.50

they had a couple other new Cube games marked 33-50% off, I was tempted by Odama at 29.99 but I dont know. Does anyone think its really going to become a rare find later on? It seems to be everywhere at this point, but then again so was Ikaruga

I'm confused.

If Rhino is closing up shop, why are they still taking in trades?

If I was going out of business, the goal would be to reduce inventory. Are these game just going to be shuffled to other Blockbuster branches?

Advent Rising - $9.50

There were lots more. I also saw the DQVII slime controller for $15, one of the chainsaw controllers for $15 (think it was PS2 version, but not 100%). This is a killer clearance.

Was definantly the GCN version, the PS2 version was still 24.50

Picked up today
Viewtiful Joe DT (NDS) 4.50
Shadow Ops XB 2.50
Darkwatch 4.50
Fatal Frame 2 XB 9.50 (PS2 version which I have gets 12 dollar trade in, so basically I was "buying" another trade in game for the 2 for one... by just switching my 2 versions of the game)
Super Monkey Ball DS 9.50
Frantix PSP 4.50
DS screen protectors 1.50
Playgear Share PSP (headphone splitter) 1.50

Had a few 360 games under 20 bucks NEW
PGR3
PD Zero
NHL 2K6
College BB 2k6
Full Auto

Id rank Rhino right up there with CC as my favorite B&M store of the year :)

Went today at lunch, and prices are definitely dropping further. I snagged today:

Me & My Katamari - $9.50
Samurai Warriors: Xtreme Legends (ps2) - $7.50
Harry Potter & The Goblet of Fire (ps2) - $4.50
Harvest Moon (ps2) - $4.50
Fatal Frame II (xbox) - $9.50
Metal Slug 4&5 (xbox) - $9.50
Dead to Rights II (xbox) - $3.50
Full Spectrum Warrior: Ten Hammers (xbpx) - $9.50
Advent Rising - $9.50

Holy shit this clearance rules. It's the Gamecube RE controller btw... Kameo is also $19.99, PGR3 is $39.50. Goldeneye Rogue Agent was $2.50 (Xbox) and 007 FRWL was $4.50 (also Xbox). They had a Logitech wirless Xbox headset for like $29.99, and way more that I can't remember off the top of my head.

I lucked out with a trade 2 for 1 deal, but they wouldn't let me plunk down an extra $10 for LOTR 360. I have to return the PGR3 I got tonight and then add the dough to it (the 7 day exchange thing). I'm going back in a little while with more trade in for stuff.

Because they're not closing up shop. Only certain stores.

So, they're consolidating?

Are the stores taking trades staying open?

Seems like most of the stores closing were out of the southeast area... all 4 of mine sprouted up within about 5 months starting late last year... its just a clearance sale to get rid of excess merchandise.. and a damn good one at that
certain 360 games for under 20 bucks...VJ for the DS for 4.50...it is awesome

ALSO... Argyle and other Rhino shoppers... Ive been toying with the idea of starting a trade in values list, particularly for the purpose of the two for one deals... good idea?... heck I wouldnt have known about Oogies Revenge (was sure they quoted me LESS than 10 dollar a few weeks earlier... but the same happened to me with War of the Monsters, it went UP in trade value... right as Sears had them for 9.99)... and Total Overdose being qualifying games

Awesome someone read my mind... I kinda like keeping it kinda quiet like in the southeast forum or something since it seems all the store ARE only in the SE... almost wouldnt want the extra competition for all the good trade in deals ;)

Okay I created the Qualitying trade thread under video game deals. The mods can move it to the southeast if they decide it fits better there. For the most part I think its going to be hard to keep it going beyond the few dedicated Rhino shoppers we have on here. As word picks up maybe more people will jump on board.

Argyle, you have stated your Rhino (which was the first one I ever visited) has employees that are cool with you doing the 2 for one, then returning it for the games $50 value and NOT the previous trade in values of the games you traded in to get the 50 dollar game (like I am told)

The RE4 controller seems to be for going for different prices at different Rhinos, I saw the GC one for 34.99 . Checked my other Rhino and they had FFIV for GBA at 24.50 and Tales of Phantasia for 24.50 (hardly comparable to CC, but still a little better than other retail)

Also saw:
Viewtiful Joe Red Hot Rumble (GC) for 14.50
Tiger Woods 2004 (GC) for 9.50
The two Mega Man compilations for GC at 24.50 a piece

All used PS2, GC, and Xbox were buy 2 get 1 free

The only problem with Rhino is that they have just about 1 copy of every brand new game, and I have a feeling they're not restocking the "clearance" items

And a little birdie in the EB company told me EB/Gamestop is trying to acquire a "video game chain in the southeast" We both couldnt think of any other chains aside from Rhino, so that may explain the recent clearance. Rhino would fit the puzzle as being a good outlet for the EB/GS stock of PS1, N64, and other older system surplus. But I dont know, this is the same person who mentioned grumblings of a gamestop takeover and I thought he was crazy then too

I have a few games from this clearance that ARE still sealed lending me to believe they still had more in stock... BTW, alot of these clearance prices have been marked down again but NOT tagged... my Full Auto was tagged 24.50, rang up 19.50... the RE4 GCN controllers should be 14.50 since the newer PS2 ones ere tagged 24.50... and Ive seen TOP for 19.50...

If EB/GS aquires Rhino, I will be one pissed gamer... bad enough seeing all the great EB online deals evaporate with the GS takeover, dont want to see them ruin Rhino too

I specifically asked the clerk what he still had sealed for Cube and he only listed two games and told me they typically only stock 1-2 copies max. The sales not being tagged would make sense, everytime I walk into one there seems to be one clerk for 10 customers with the other two employees dickin off in the back. And I really hope Gamestop doesnt take over because I built my PSP library off the trade 2 get 1 free deal. We should try to compile better lists so more can get in on this

Nope, they don't have a problem with it at all. In fact, the complete staff of the store has changed about 4-5 months ago, and neither staff has had a problem with me doing that.

I need something to match w/ my Fatal Frame 2 now. I'm almost tempted to trade my Monster Hunter Freedom, just because I never play it. :-k

Funny story, I went to Rhino today to return a couple of games. I had picked up Tron 2.0 used a couple of days back and PoP:TTT new from the sale the other day. Tron I just didn't care for from the few minutes I played it - or actually, I preferred the PC version. PoP:TTT was kinda scratched up (it was their last copy) and I decided for pretty much the same thing I gave for it from Rhino I could get it new & sealed someplace else. So I go w/ a coworker. While we're there, he's looking at PoP:TTT used. He didn't realize I had just returned the game (he just wasn't paying attention to what I was doing). So he takes it up to the girl, and she tells him he could get the new one for $4.50 since it just dropped. He did, picking up the copy I had just returned. I laughed & told him for $4.50, I would have overlooked the scratches. :-P

They're kosher with it... that's the only way you can get new 360 games with the 2 for 1. They won't let you add $10 to the 2 for 1, but you can do the 7 day exchange for a $59 by paying 10 more bucks for it.

One thing our Rhino stores DO allow is the 2 for ones on the 360 games... I like to find a couple of 10 dollar trade in games for the 2 for one, then if I have another game that gets me more than 10( like when I traded my 4 dollar Total Overdose for 14 when I bought it for 4)... to make up the generally ten dollar difference, but in this case I went for Prey CE... total cost was like 27-28 in games and difference... You should tell them to call Brandy at the Saraland AL store, she knows how to ring it up correctly and was the first one I knew that was doing this

It wasn't the manager, it was a skinny guy who may have been a regular employee. I'm going back in a few minutes to do the two-for-one with Shadow of Rome and Castlevania, hopefully they'll let me pull it off for Prey. If not, I'll snag DOA or something, and do the 7 day exchange.

The big one that got me with this sale was the Guitar Hero bundle down to $59.99. As fast as the prices are dropping, it wouldn't surprise me to see this bundle down to $29.99 soon. As high as the sequel bundle is going to be, it'd be a crime to pass this up.

I went in this morning to pick up the ones I had asked them to hold for me yesterday (I didn't have my credit with me at the time) and I picked up a few more. The guys told me someone came in last night and bought a big stack of games. Was that you? :)

Anyway, the guys working there today really didn't know how to do the 2-for-1 so I held off. The red-headed guy just started this week, and I think the other guy was just...confused. I'll wait for the manager to get back next week.

In addition to the ones I already listed, I also decided to pick these up:

MG Acid 2 - $9.50
Goldeneye (xbox) - $2.50
LotR: The Third Age (xbox) - $2.50
King of Fighters 02/03 (xbox) - $9.50
Fatal Frame 1 (xbox) - $25.99 - they had this used, but it looked BRAND NEW and I've been looking for it for a while
Exhibition demo disk (xbox) - .50 - I needed a Xbox case, and figured .50 was a good deal on one. ;)

Through some confusion they also sold me Star Wars Battlefront II for the PS2 for $19.99. I don't know much about the game, and I'm trying to decide if I want to return it or not.

I took my PS2 Psychonauts (I got the Xbox version from TRU last week) along with the LotR:TTA and my GC version of Goldeneye and traded them into EB for $25 total. So that's something to keep in mind with those $2.50 games. Ironically, I got a new copy of PoP:TTT for the Xbox.

That's funny, I actually went back wanting that Xbox Goldeneye for a friend of mine. I did a 2 for 1 to get Quake 4 for the 360, will likely return it to get NCAA 07 or Prey on the cheap. They sold the last DOA4 last night, still have Full Auto.

All in all, here's my haul for the past 2 days:

Xbox:
Brothers in Arms: Earned in Blood ($9.99)
Darkwatch ($4.50)
Fatal Frame II DC ($9.50)
Metal Slug 4/5 ($9.99)
Castlevania CoD ($9.50)

Xbox 360
Kameo ($19.50)

Traded some games, along with Castlevania CoD and MMX Collection for the 2 for 1:
PGR 3 ($39.50)

Random other shit:
PS2 pelican extension cord: ($0.50)
Pelican DS carrying case ($3.50)
some R2-D2 action figure that sucks ass ($2.50, should've bought another game instead)

returned PGR3 next day, picked up Lord of the Rings: BFME II for 360 and traded Sigma Star Story & Pitfall TLE GBA, as well as some other game that I don't remember from CC sale to make up the difference= free excluding tax.

Traded another 2 for 1 (Castlevania CoD and Shadow of Rome) to get Quake 4 360 for free excluding tax, will return later this week during 7 day period to get either NCAA 07 or Prey for $10+tax.

All in all, I've paid a total of about $39 after using about $60 of my store credit for a few games I got for about $1-$3 from the Kmart clearance (only one per title, Rhino in Montgomery doesn't allow more than one copy of a game per trade in, such as Custom Robo and Wario Ware). I'd say my total cost excluding gas for everything at about $55, including what I paid for the Kmart games.

Jesus tapdancing christ.. Rhino's trade-ins and the current clearance prices are making this one of the sickest deals all year IMO. I'm fighting going back for more, but the prices are dropping so frequently on the clearance games that I kind of want to hold off.

Sorry, woulda left it if I'd have known you were interested. It was basically an upgrade for me, since like I mentioned I left Rhino & traded in my GC version at EB. Ironically, I think Goldeneye & Dead To Rights II were the only last copies of a game I picked up today.

I agree, the deals are killer. Once I do this 2-for-1 next week, I'll be down about $50-$80 credit, all said & done. I think I definitely picked the right time to pick an Xbox back up - thanks to all these clearance sales I've built up a pretty respectable library in almost no time and for very little $$. :)

Its funny, if these deals were at EB/GS... this thread would be 30 pages long... nice to have an alternative here in the southeast, especially since my game X changes closed up after Katrina... although I still miss being able to trade in penny guides there for 2 bucks apiece... Yup, even here locally it seems most people ignore the Rhino in favor of EB/GS. Not that I'm complaining (and I'm sure Skylander isn't either ;)).

BTW, anyone's Rhino still have the latest Ace Combat? I'm curious if it got clearanced out as well.

I've thought about getting a whole bunch of clearanced guides and taking them to rhino. I just never took the time to do it.

I'm going to go back there on monday or tuesday to see if anythings changed. What sucks is that there are a lot of games that I could buy and flip, but I really don't feel like going through the hassle. Good clearance though, especially on xbox games.

Our local store is heavily ignored due to the area of town in which it is located. It's right by a Walmart known for shootings and theft. The one in Auburn though is the freaking shit, as it constantly has any rare game you could think of for older systems (Suikodens, Einhander, Super Puzzle Fighter, etc). The Montgomery store has some decent oldies as well (I was really surprised that Dragon Warrior III and IV for NES were there).

If PGR3 is marked down to $19.99, I may have to make even another trip over there tomorrow. As of last night at my local store, it was still $39.50. I'm guilty as well of ignoring the local Rhino, as I lived in Prattville. Since moving back to Montgomery last week, it's not as much a hassle.

I totally agree on the Gamerush 30 thread comment.. it's kind of nice for the Southeast to finally get something like this, seeing as we have to miss out on the Gamerush/Fry's deals all the time. Hell, the nearest Comp USA from here is 70 miles off in Birmingham.

This is easily the second best sale of the year...

I wish it had been $20 at mine, it was 42.50 there, and Black was 17.50

I traded Total Overdose for Fatal Frame 2 (XBOX) and Suffering: TTB.

Mine had a DFP wheel for $74.50 (marked). I'm considering it, because my TRU only has the DF wheel (which I already have). Hmm...

Damn and you got Prey in a trade in deal?? Wish I had a Rhino in PA

Yep. Bought War of the monsters for 9.99 and Total overdose for $3.96. Traded those in towards Prey (59.99) and paid the $10 difference.

Wow, this thread popped up all of a sudden all while I was busy with my new Best Buy job. Great to see Rhino getting some attention. I know that thread I started several months back didn't get much action. I've really gotta check out Orlando's only Rhino tomorrow after I get off work and see if there's any goodies left. I neglected to look at the listed locations of the posters in this thread, but I know there's a good handful of regular posters in the Orlando area.

Also, Rob, the previous manager of the Rhino was recruited to the Waterford GameStop, if anyone cares. (I dunno, I may have mentioned that somewhere already on some thread.)

I can confirm the GT4 DFP wheel at $74.50, and Me & My Katamari at $9.90. Trust the list that has been generated, as Katamari was on the shelf stickered at $39.99.

Darn, all the goodies I really wanted (MGA2, Me & My Katamari, and VJ DS) were already sold out. But the clerk said there's a chance the warehouse will distribute leftover stock to stores where the products sell well, so here's hoping on a restock!

I wound up picking up PSP Frantix for $4.50, NDS Super Monkey Ball Touch & Roll for $9.50, and a blue Neo Geo Pocket Color with Pac-Man, King of Fighters R2, Neo Turf Masters, Samurai Shodown 2, Metal Slug 1st Mission, and Fatal Fury First Contact for $29.50.

+1 for my game system collection.

Also, I've noticed that Rhino's been cutting prices on their games better than they ever have before, meaning it may become just a bit harder to find games worth $10 in value for the trade in deal.

Cool, I think that's my price on Marvel Nemesis & Advent Rising - I started to get that one at $9.50, but the clerk talked me out of it. They had a ton of copies too, so I figured it was safe to wait for a further drop. ;)

There are a few others I wanna check tomorrow to see if they went down more - I'd like to grab Karaoke Revolution Country for my wife, but $29.50 was still well out of my price range. Half of that I might bite on.

Wow, nice find on the guides. I found an Animal Crossing DS guide a week after it came out for $1.99.. I was hyped. A friend that works there was bragging, saying that some of these games that are $4.50 still qualify for the 2 for 1. Wouldn't be suprised if Metal Slug & Fatal Frame still qualify, but I really don't want to part with either.. besides that, the new games I would want will be dirt cheap this time next year (I'm lookin' at you, Prey).

Finally got a chance to go and check out my Rhino and wish I would've decided to go earlier. I picked up (all for Xbox):

Ultimate Spider-Man - $4.50
007 From Russia With Love - $4.50
Alias - $2.50

I was tempted to get Spidey and 007 at the CC $8.96 clearance but I'm glad that I waited. Tried to look for a copy of Total Overdose at my CC for the trade-in but there were no more left (mine still gives $14 credit, although they were also clearancing the new ones for $24.50. Strange). I did end up finding another Powerdrome for PS2 for $0.96. Does FYE still take these in for $10 or whatever they were trading in for? If not I'll probably dump it along with some other stuff at EB for credit. There wasn't much else left at my Rhino but they MAY get some other stuff in. Thanks to everyone who's provided info about the games and prices, and hopefully there are more price drops/games on the way.

Yeah, I was searching high and low for another game that could be used for the 2 for 1. Any suggestions? I don't have a TRU or CC by me, so all of the clearance stuff is out of the question. What would be a cheap game, sub $20, that I could walk in some place and get, then trade it into Rhino?

And I would make the trade, but I don't have a PS2!

Cool, there's one available at the EB in Opelika. I might head over there and pick one up for $14.99. But damn, what game would I get? I mean, I only have a GCN, and there are NO games out that are worth $50. Maybe I'll get a DS game and take a $15 hit? I don't know, either way it's better to buy the music generator and do that than be stuck with these games.

Any advice? Thanks!

I saw a Winning Eleven for the PS2 today, don't remember what number, but it was marked at $34.50. Didn't scan it to see if it was cheaper, but most of the PS2 games looked to be priced correctly.

Anyway, this sale is killer. Easily beats the CC sale as sale of the year so far. Here's my haul from today:

Constantine (xbox) - $2.50
Marvel Nemesis (xbox) - $4.50
Brothers In Arms: Earned In Blood (xbox) - $4.50
Big Mutha Truckers 2 (xbox) - $2.50 hey, it's gotta be worth $2.50 just for a laugh :-P
Advent Rising (xbox) - $4.50
Rainbow Six: Critical Hour (xbox) - $4.50
Beyond Good & Evil (ps2) - $7.50 this was bundled with a third-party controller - I asked her what they give in trade-in for the controller, and she said $3, so I'll end up having paid $4.50 for the game
Viewtiful Joe: Double Trouble (ds) - $2.50
MegaMan X GC Controller - $7.50

8 games and a controller for less than $50 credit. Do my credit to cash conversion, and that comes up to around $20 cash spent. Awesome. :D

The manager was about to finish up my total when she stopped & reached under the counter pulling out Viewtiful Joe. The manager of one of the nearby stores had come in while I was there & handed her two games, this being one of them. She told me she had asked him to bring it for her, but that she double-checked last night & her son already had it, so she asked if I wanted it. For $2.50? Damn straight I do. ;)

EDIT: Two big ones that really stood out but that I already had were Shadow Hearts: From The New World for $14.50 and Tales of Legendia for $29.50. Shadow Hearts especially is a steal at that price - really makes me wish I had held off since I still have't played the third one yet, but then you never know what will drop in price & what will disappear...

Shadow Hearts was gone when I got there after work. I called in and asked her to hold Riddick for me for $4.50, so I snagged that. She said the DM from Sylacauga came in and cleaned the store of alot of games earlier, and the manager snagged the last Prince of Persia: TTT for $2.50 today as well.

One I'm really hunting is Mega Man X Collection on PS2.. it's down to $2.50!!! Black went down to $12.50, as well as both Brothers in Arms on Xbox. Mega Man Battle Network 5 for GBA was $2.50 (I really don't want it, but if somebody has Mega Man X Collection for PS2 they don't want, I'll gladly trade if they find one).

First party Sony component cables are down to $2.50 as well.. some DS starter kits with cases, stylus, and car charger are down to $5.00.

This sale is close to the CC sale (Im talking about from the whole year, not just this latest batch of drops July 4th... I mustve snagged about 30 2 dollar games)... I cant believe MMX Collection is down to 2.50?... damn... i traded in to get it a few weeks ago for 24.99...ouch... but Ive more than made up for it, even with the one Rhino employee at the 3 local sites THAT I HATE hoarding all the good XB games at his store

The Orlando Rhino restocked on Prey CE and MGA2, so I called in and had those held for me. Hopefully they'll get in more Me & My Katamari and VJ: DS next week. I also hope they restock on the Neo Geo Pocket Color 4-game pack.

I also picked up KOF 02/03 and FSW: Ten Hammers, both for $4.50 each, as well a set of the Messiah wireless NES controllers for $19.50. I was considering maybe letting them sit around and drop further, but decided not to chance it. I see dhs odium picked up the SNES ones. I don't know about anyone else, but these things feel kind of cheap, right? Haven't play-tested them yet, though.

Has anyone thought to price check the Generation NEX? I wonder if it dropped significantly...

I went with a big group of fellow Orlando/UCF college kids to LA last summer. We ate a celebratory meal at Magic Johnson's Fridays after one of us won a car on The Price is Right. I asked for sweet tea (which, of course, they wouldn't have, but you won't know unless you try). The waitress said she'd be happy to make some for me if I let her know how. Wha? This coming from the woman who claimed to have lived in Jacksonville, FL, before movie to the west coast! Sure, it's a fine art to make great sweet tea, but it's no secret that tea + sugar is the only equation you need. Maybe she understood well enough that the tea shouldn't be chilled until after it's brewed/sweetened?

Madness!!!

What were we talking about? Oh yeah, the South will rise again, riding on a wave of delicious sweet tea and crazy Rhino video game deals.

Also, they will take any guides? Because I must have at least 50 guides or so sitting around I'd absolutely love to unload.

I got it for 9.50 on the XB

This sale is close to the CC sale (Im talking about from the whole year, not just this latest batch of drops July 4th... I mustve snagged about 30 2 dollar games)... I cant believe MMX Collection is down to 2.50?... damn... i traded in to get it a few weeks ago for 24.99...ouch... but Ive more than made up for it, even with the one Rhino employee at the 3 local sites THAT I HATE hoarding all the good XB games at his store

Might have to get some component cables for that price (always good to have a 2nd set to make moving the system a little easier).. would like the ones for XB360 too, but dont know if they dropped yet

Would also like to get Beatmania if it drops significantly more, as well as Odama
$9.50? Wow...this really sucks that there's no Rhino near me. Of couse i need WE9 for the PS2, but still, $9.50 is awesome! These games from Rhino are all used right?

Nope! The clearance prices are on new games, and used prices may actually be higher. Being that they are clearance games, there's a good chance you'll wind up with "gut" copies, though. And since Rhino has a 7-day return window, you may actually wind up with someone else's returned game. The FSW Ten Hammers game I got was a re-shrink-wrapped game with no security seal (Though it was in mint condition anyway).

I picked up Offical Sony component cables last night. They were marked 4.50 which I thought was pretty good. Got them to the counter and they rang up 2.50 which I thought was even better. I also asked about Darkwatch(Xbox) which is listed here as being 7.50. They were out but told me it was down to 4.50 now.

Rhino gives you .50 a guide. That's pretty good for the penny most of us pay for them. That should get you about 34739493476 clearance games.

The Generation NEX wasnt on clearance whne I checked, too new a product I believe, Id love some of the NES wireless controllers, but 20 still seems too much

BTW, what were the 4 packs of NGPC games going for, if the system and 6 games was 19.50....

Anything still good at the Montgomery store? If so, I'm heading out in a couple hours to check it out. All I've got so far from there was Darkwatch for $7.50 and Full Spectrum Warroir Ten Hammers for $10.00.

$19.50? Darn, I paid $29.50 a couple days ago! Eh, I think I'd rather eat the difference than attempt a return-rebuy and tarnish my reputation at the single Rhino for hundreds of miles.

And I think the games were somewhere under $5, since the guy-who-bought-them's total was $5-something.

No MMX collection here, which is what I wanted the most, as well as Katamari.

Mine does have a few MMX Controllers, Shadow the Hedgehog controllers, one more PS2 Component Cable (I got one for myself), Frantix, Exit, and various DS accessories.

No chainsaw controllers from what I saw. Debating on picking up the SNES controllers (I have an NES set).

So I sold three games for $12 and decided to take that money back to Rhino.

Spazzed out when I saw the Saint's Row demo. Immediately put $5, got the demo, then promptly cancelled my preorder and used my credit for more games. Ended up getting Rainbow Six: Lockdown, Rainbow Six: Critical Hour, Fantastic 4, Brothers in Arms: Road to Hill 30, and king of Fighters 02/03. I then noticed a NGPC system with Metal Slug, Fatal Fury, Samurai Showdown, Pacman, something else and something else marked from $74.99 to $19.50. Picked all that up and after the $12 I made back and the credit, I only paid $30 out of pocket. Not bad at all.

Please no more markdowns. I got MGA2 and X-WE9 (both 9.50) and the wireless SNES controllers (19.50) today.

Kinda funny, I asked if they had any of the SNES controllers (had NES on table), and they said no. Looked up above their display case, and mostly hidden by their business license was the last set. Huzzah!

But I'm seriously done with this clearance. I need to sell some stuff, maybe I can afford a 360.

I talked with the manager at one of our Rhinos about a next round of drops, he told me it can happen at anytime, they went for a while without anything, then BAM, all these markdowns at once

I personally will check back weekly at least at my local store

Found these today at my local Rhino:
Samurai Warriors State of War (PSP) 14.50 <2for1 Qualifier>
Generations of Chaos (PSP) 14.50 <2for1 Qualifier>
Crash Racing (PSP) 9.50 <2for1 Qualifier>
Exit (PSP) 9.50
Soduku (PSP) 9.50

About $60 plus tax for 5 new PSP games definately isn't a bad deal. Also noticed these:

Xbox RF's .50
N64 Power Supplies 3.50 (always good to have a spare, they sell used for 9.99)
Black (Xbox) 12.50 gets $20 toward Madden 07 at EB
Beatmania (PS2) 34.50 ????
Rumble Roses XXX (360) 39.50
Tomb Raider Legends (360) 39.50
DOA4 (360) 29.50
Flatout (Xbox) 9.50
Drakenguard 2 (PS2) 14.50

I asked the manager (long time friend) what was up with the sale (new for less than half of used), Generations and Samurai both sell for 34.99 used, and he said he didn't understand either, but, as of next week the clearance prices will go up!! I looked at him in shock and he said that corporate must be losing their minds. So if you see something you want at Rhino, better jump on it now, because it isn't going to get any cheaper.

I stopped by at lunch today, but didn't notice anything marked down further. I checked quite a few, and they all appeared to have the same prices as before. I asked the manager if Beatmania had dropped again (it's behind the counter & hard to see) and she said it hadn't. She then told me that she had heard some prices might be about to go back UP, since apparently some people had discovered they could buy the new games & trade them in for more money. Aannnnyywwayyy.... ;)

I did grab something that I just hadn't seen out before, and that's the FFXI digital desk clock. Tells the regular time & time in-game. I don't play FFXI, but it looks damn cool and for $7.50 (regular $50) I couldn't say no. :)

Oh, one more thing of interest I meant to mention. Not a sale by any means, but I found it interesting that they had the UK imports of Breath of Fire III & Tales of Eternia for the PSP. $55 each, but still cheaper than anywhere else if you do a 2-for-1 for them.

On a related note, anyone else miss Rhino carrying game soundtracks?

The opposite, actually - my local manager said yesterday that she had been told the clearanced games would be either marked as "used" & given the current used pricing or their prices would go back up. I asked her when this was supposed to take place, and she didn't know for sure but thought it would be either this weekend or the first of next week. So if there's something you've been holding out on hoping for a further drop, you might want to get it now.

I dont think it's dead I think all the good items just sold out. Odama for 19.50 might not be the best price but its still a deal down from a price of $50 three weeks ago.

Went yesterday and only saw that Battalion Wars for the Cube went down to 19.50. And one of the Cube's Megaman titles dropped to 14.50. Xenosaga 2 was at 9.50 for PS2, but other than that nothing really below the 10 dollar mark

edit: and I did see the FF clock but it was still marked $50 so I may have to check that out
