The back area of my basement family room is now set up with a small TV for the kids to have access to a couple of older systems: the N64 (instead of everything stuck in a box) and GameCube (instead of the middle of the floor) are now in an armoire:

As most of you know, I'm currently attending the Conservatory of Recording Arts working towards a career in game or film audio. On the side though, and originally a reason I decided to enroll at the school was that I enjoy composing. I also played tons of video game music. On my youtube channel now I easily have over 150 piano covers of video game tunes.

Either way, just want to share some of my compositions here as I upload them to youtube and other places. This one is called Walking through the Mechanical Gate. It was written entirely with MIDI in sibelius 6.0 then imported into FL studio where I changed voices and mixed. I will admit I'm a horrible mixer/masterer, so obviouslly mix engineer or mastering engineer is probably never in my future, (nor do I want it to be, I'm too systematic for it) but nevertheless, I want to improve, so you'll probably notice things get better slowly as things come along. My main problem is with balance and depth. Perhaps it has to...

I’m a Monster Hunter. No, it’s okay, I’m not going to try to evangelize you; I just want to talk. When I tell people of my love of Monster Hunter, they usually reply with “I tried that but I didn’t get it because of the lack of targeting,” or “I couldn’t get used to the camera” but is it really that simple? I rarely like to admit that a game can be made better by simply adding familiar mechanics from another game – if that were the case “Gears of War Clone” or “God of War Knockoff” would have a much more positive connotation. So what if Monster Hunter had a targeting system? Would it catch on in the US? I’m going to hazard a guess and say “no.” There is a lot more about Monster Hunter that keeps Westerners at an arm’s length.

I'm new here, I signed up after listening to the podcasts for a long time because this site seems like a good community to find.

I only just got an xbox 360 about 3 weeks ago, up until then I've been playing PC games almost exclusively. I've been an avid fan of World of Warcraft for a long time, but after years of playing the same game.... well, the shine has worn off a little. So one cold winter evening, I trekked out to EB games where I found the best deal I could on a super xbox 360 um.. elite? I'm not totally clear on the naming conventions. Please forgive this noob. It's been lots of fun so far, although since buying the system left very little in the old video game larder I've only been playing some of the older games out there. It's a bit odd playing video games on a comfortable couch instead of at my desk.

I've been very much enjoying Battlefield Bad Company, which surprises me, since I was never any good...

I haven't had a PS3 for long, this is my current collection.

I made it another week without making any game purchases but, I'm not sure how much longer I'm gonna make it There are, as always, plenty of games tempting me, but I've not bought any of them, yet.

I was lucky again this week and got to game a lot more than I had expected, however, as with last week, I made no progress in my backlog. I'm still stuck on the same games I've been stuck on and I'm just not really wanting to go back and work on them to try and get any further. I want to finish them and move on, but I know it will take forever to get past the points I'm at in the games.

Last week I was finally ready to finish a game, I had one more chapter to go in the Bee Movie Game and was heading for a perfect 1000 gamerscore and then it happened. I was waiting and waiting for the next chapter to open so I could finish the game and it never did. I did everything to try and get the chapter to open, but it would not open. The only time that I ever write a blog here is when my PS3 dies.
Damn, it did it again. YLOD.

This is the 3rd time that my Playstation 3 took a dump on me. This time though, it lasted from 10/08/10 until today. Four months on life support isn't too bad I suppose.

Time to tear my old friend apart again and bring her back from cyber death. All of this just after I fixed a friend's PS3 just 2 weeks earlier.

Hopefully it'll be just another slather of Arctic Silver 2 and a quick reflow of the motherboard and she'll be up and running again. Good thing I'm getting my tax return this week, I should probably think into getting a PS3 slim as a replacement/backup.

Fingers are crossed.

Never got that before ever. I had $1.88 left in PAYPAL. Haven't even spent it or touched it and now it says -$3.62. So why does it say that when I haven't spent it? The only thing I can think of sometimes even after a payment clears there is a weird hold on it. Then the money randomly comes back,but I've never had it go in the negative and I always watch what I spent and see no charges.

The Telecaster Guitar for Rock Band by MadCatz (though the one I got came in Sunburst color not Butterscotch, but I don't think it makes much of a difference gameplay wise). So before going into the pros and cons let's go into some of the features that this guitar touts.

-Touch sensitive back/overdrive piece right between the strum bar and neck.
-Metal spring whammy bar
-Hinged fret buttons for "faster fret changes"
-$110 Price tag!

Now reading the features I was pretty giddy to try this out and especially curious to see how the fret buttons measure up. Well...This is the part of the review where I say it lives up to the price tag and I shat my pants or I go into disappointment and...

I've been reading around a lot lately on Mass Effect 2 and have discovered that there are a bunch of people that really do not like the story of the second installment... I just think that this game is really unique and should be looked at a little differently.

People consider the Collectors to be the main story in Mass Effect 2. Where I disagree, I feel the main story is actually the creation of your team. I view the Collectors mission as an important side quests that you and Cerberus have no real knowledge on. Mass Effect 2 is a part of a trilogy. So I felt that this middle chapter was here to essentially experience the creation of your squad and paving way for the final confrontation in Mass Effect 3.

What I think the problem is - is that a triology really relies on the sum of all of its parts to make an experience. This is the first time in the gaming medium where we have ran into this and the gaming community does not know how to approach...

When I received all my items (above), I actually noticed that there were...

Damn Colts.

Here's my point of view.
10-0 in the first quarter: Saints were totally off balance.
10-6 in the second quarter: Saints were gaining just a bit of traction, had scored 3 points and then the Colts stuffed them on 4th and goal. 2 minutes left for Peyton to do what he does best... Who the made the decision to basically have them phone it in and try to end the half? Are you ing kidding me? So, instead of a score effectively making it 17-3 at the half, they end up giving the ball back to the Saints who kick another field goal. Everyone seemed happy the Colts were still up at the half, but I thought it was over as they had basically given up a possible 10 point swing in their favor and given the Saints the advantage.

So, what I'm saying is, I can't wait to read who made the decision not to run the 2-minute drill at the end of the first half and, in my opinion, blew the game for the Colts right there by giving the Saints so much momentum....

In quite possibly the worst idea since the Astroids, Pacman, and Monoply movies, someone at Fox thinks Howard Stern should replace Simon Cowel on American Idol. Stern on Idol? Yeah right...
I've recently started listening to the full, four hour Howard Stern radio show. Me and any else who listens (like CheapyD) know that Howard Stern would not be appropriate for American Idol. I don't even see how he would be interested. Unless they have the female contestants were topless or rode a sybian on stage (research it). Then the the FCC would inevitably be on his ass.

This is just a rumor, and probably won't happen, but there is a chance. Sterns' contract with Sirius Satellite Radio is about to run out. So this leaves Stern another option. His three options right now are:

1. Sirius renews his contract, continues the Howard Stern show there.
