I might as well start a blog... |

Well, considering how a few days ago was my CAGiversary, I figured "Hell, I'll start a blog when I get the chance." I guess I have that chance now. So, let's get started.
My name is John, I'm 13 (14 in a few weeks), and live in Maine. I started a blog last year, but I broke my promise of keeping up with it. I haven't been "seriously" gaming for that long. I began gaming with a Game Boy Advance in about 2003, and then that got taken away from me by a teacher and never given back lol. My parents never allowed me to own a console when I was younger, so up until last summer, I had no video game consoles. Last summer, I bought a PS2, mainly for Guitar Hero. Soon after, I became a member on here. Around Thanksgiving, I started to REALLY want a Wii. A lot of my close friends had them, and a bunch were supposedly getting them for Christmas, so I was trying to find the best way to get one. I tried listing my PS2 on Craigslist, but after about a month of shady offers and e-mail spam, I gave up. I ended up begging my mom for one for Christmas, and even showed her when they were in stock on Amazon. When I woke up Christmas morning, I had near no presents, but I had the one I wanted, the Wii. Since getting a Wii and becoming more a member here, I've changed a lot. I have more games (and a lot of WiiWare games thanks to that Pepsi promotion), near all of my money goes towards gaming, I go yard sailing, and I'm even planning on getting a PS3 next year, when I do get a job. This summer, I told a friend of mine (Barris1024) about CAG. He signed up, and we decided that we should get old consoles. After reading the yard sale thread and the thrift store thread, I decided those would be my ways of finding video game items. Thanks to having a mom that doesn't mind yard sales and enjoys going to the local Goodwill, I was able to go to a lot of yard sales and stop at Goodwill almost once a week. Sadly, it amounted to nothing. Barris ended up getting a SNES from somebody on CAG when he first joined, while still going yard sailing. He paid about $30, and I kept telling him "Wait until we go to yard sales! We'll be able to find an SNES for dirt cheap!" Boy, was I wrong. So after about a month and a half of yard saling/Goodwills, I decided that I was just gonna buy a Dreamcast (I played it at my cousin's house numerous times and it has always been my most wanted console) last weekend on Amazon. I paid about $25, thanks to a gift card from Cashcrate. I'm eagerly waiting for it to get here. :( So anyways, enough about my history here. This blog is to talk about anything gaming that interests me, and to attempt to manage my backlog of unbeaten games before it gets too big. I have a pretty large backlog of Wii/Gamecube/WiiWare games, a few PS2 games, and I'm already starting to build up a Dreamcast backlog! So, the way I'm thinking about going about this is one game at a time. I know that this will be hard for me, but it will go a lot faster if I spend most of my time playing one game until I beat it/get somewhere major in the game. I'm gonna list the game I'm currently trying to beat, and how far I am from beating at the top of the blog post from now on (not this one). Current Game: Mario Kart Wii. I've gotten gold on 4/8 mirror cups. So, thanks for sticking in there. I'll be sure to have pictures and such once I get into this more. And the other posts won't be this long. |

Yeah, I've heard a lot about that game, I'll have to buy it if I can find it cheap. I'm also looking for Jet Grind Radio.
Currently I have Crazy Taxi and Sonic Adventure. |

Wow, a 13 year old that knows how to use proper English. Why can't there be more of you?
It's cool that you are interested in older systems. |

Agreed. You should ask around the local game shops, too. I don't go to Gamestop often, but I got a refurbished DC for about $15 a couple years ago. Try finding a local BST somewhere that sells music. The Exchange in Pittbsurgh does that, and they also sell video games, from PS3 360 Wii all the way to NES and SMS. I think they may have some atari things too. |

Lol. Where I live in Maine, there aren't too many shops around other than the music store, Goodwill, and WalMart. I might have to try the music store, since they have a huge collection for all systems.
I got my Dreamcast today, I'll be making a post about that later today. |
