I finally received a call from the man who offered me the job. He said that my coursework during college isn't deemed advanced enough for this position. He said I could take 3 math classes and try again. He gave me some advice on which courses he thought were good for me to have under my belt.
I thanked him for the advice. I then told him that I hoped in the future that they were slightly more careful when going through this process. I indicated that I didn't apply for the job, his department found me, interviewed me, and offered me the job. I said that I was very transparent with my academic record, and that to find out a month after I gave them a copy of my transcripts that I wasn't qualified was shocking. Overall, I just don't want this to happen to anyone else. It is bad enough that there are several recent college graduates out there struggling. But to give someone a severe sense of false hope is just wrong. And I absolutely think this mistake was avoidable. Hopefully that man will go home tonight and tell his wife that he seriously ed up. Because at the end of the day, that's what it amounts to. He can give me advice on what classes I need, but is that really relevant to the situation? I don't think it is. Unless I can build a time machine, go back 6 months, take those classes and still be in the situation where out of the blue someone calls me and offers me a job, then it's pointless. So now I go back to living life. This is exactly why I had stopped looking for a job in the first place. I really didn't need someone to come along and screw up my August. To steal away my time, money, effort, and hope. In happier news, I got the Steppin' Razor achievement in Halo 3 last night. It was a genuine triple kill with the sword. I also finally got the Maybe Next Time Buddy achievement, but it was a shallow win. I had someone help me do it in Rumble Pit. ^___^ |

Sorry to hear about them pulling their offer. It'll bite them back.
I was kinda in the same position as well last year. I spent almost $700 in a round-trip ticket, called in sick 3 days in a row for a job opportunity back where I live. Unfortunately, the hiring manager didn't want to hire me because I lack confidence even though everyone that interviewed me likes me. That pissed me off as I wasted time and money for a job that seems like a "lock" when they wanted me to see me in-person. What's even worse, they didn't reimburse me for my flight. |
