Why do i KEEP having the urge to trade in games?

Okay, so I haven't traded in any games in nearly a year now. Quite impressive for me, i use to always trade in games. I even made a blog on why trading in was so bad. But it seems like i'm just having the urge to go into gamestop, taking everything i dont play or care if i have anymore, and getting store credit / new games. I know it's a rip off, but i don't know why i have the urge to do it. I have been trying to start "collecting" games and have come along pretty good i think, a total of about 60 xbox 360 games total since i havent been trading in. There has also been the rumor of trade in 4 games get 20$ extra, which would be a good incentive to unload a few games at gamestop.

What do you guys think about my situation, should i trade in or just keep collecting, even though i may never play some of the games? What is your position on trading in games?

I hate trade-ins. I collect because when I pay 60 bucks for a new game and when I go to trade it in and am only offer'd 25 bucks it is really quite a rip off. I mean I could ebay it for more then that. So I just keep what I buy unless it becomes more valuable.
currently i have 6 games im not playing and i really don't like having them just lay there i usually go from one game to the next and dont really ever come back to one. So gamestop is nice if i collect to many games but i dont like their prices you get back so places like cag do come in handy but then you have waiting times to deal with.
I kind of know how you feel. I traded my first game on August 1, it was a game I had for several years, thought I would love it, never was able to get past the first level and just gave up on it. After trying to get rid of it for years, I finally decided to let it go, after I did, I started having some regret and wanted it back.

However, I did my second trade in today, with two games. They were games I got really cheap thinking they may be something I might be interested and/or should just try. Tried them, hated them, knew I would never played them and had no need or want for them. So, I took them to Toy's R Us and traded them for $26.30. Obviously, I hate trading them in because I lose a lot of value on them (even though I didn't pay full price) and know I could have got a lot more by selling them myself or something, but didn't really want to go through the hassle.

The first game I traded was one I still think I should have kept and may have got more into it down the road, so I kind of regret that, I also regret the fact I lost around $14 from what I paid for the game. The second two games I traded I knew I would never like them and I ended up getting a little more than I paid, so in the end I was happy. It was nice because I was able to try a game, see if I like it, since I didn't, I was able to trade it and it didn't cost me nothing, talk about the ideal rental Now that I've dipped my toes into trading, I find myself somewhat hooked. I got rid of two games I don't like and now can go by another game, possibly two, that I will really like, I didn't lose any money and actually got a little more than I paid.

I'm now excited to trade the 5 or so other games I tried and don't like. I'm just trying to decide where to take them, right now I'm leaning towards Gamestop, for the extra $20 credit like you. If the rumor is true and I get close to what the values are on CAG for the games I have, I'm looking at getting $52, that to me, is awesome. Again, I'm not losing money on these games, which makes it even better. I was able to try them, see I didn't like them and now I can go by the things I've been wanting from Gamestop but didn't want to.

I totally agree with you, now that I've done it, I'm somewhat addicted, though when I see the value for some of the games it definitely hurts and I realize what a rip off it is, the bonus helps, but when I know I could have sold it for a lot more, it hurts a little. But, I consider my time to be important and I have sold things on eBay in the past, it was a pain and they take so many fees out you don't make much anyway, never done craigslist and don't want to deal with locals, etc. It is nice to take the games in, get my credit and be able to spend it on the spot, even if I lose a little value.
