Well if you haven't heard already, there's a new splash screen up http://www.square-enix.co.jp/ctds/which makes it pretty apparent that Chrono Trigger is coming to the DS. I for one am excited, being a big fan of the game but I read that it was going to be just a straight port.

Square-Enix has yet to officially anounce any details yet though so I'm hoping they do something with the game. I wouldn't be adverse to a 3d remake like they did with some of the final fantasy games. If it does end up being just a straight snes port I might have to just stick with my psx version with awesome anime cutscenes.

Ehh who am I kidding i'm sure i'll buy this no matter what, but here's hoping that they spruce it up a bit. Hopefully if when this sells well, they will smarten up and bring us a real console sequel.

Well, that was sooner then I expected. Square-Enix have officially confirmed Chrono Trigger for the DS and they say it will be here by christmas. Also there's apparently going to be a new dungeon, wireless play mode, and of course have touch screen functionality.

One thing I was thinking about is that if you played the psx version like I did you probably remember the only bad part about that game which was the horrible load time when you try to gotto the character menu. Now there obviously won't be any load times since its on a cartridge, also i'm curious as to how they will use the second screen. If not a permanent menu, maybe a new map or some other new function. In any case this year is shaping up to be a great one for gaming. At least now i'll have something to occupy my time as I impatiently wait for Diablo III to come out.
