Now originally when i thought DJ hero i was going to laugh i thought i will never buy that. It just seemed like it was going to be another activision blunder. When i saw the song list though i saw daft punk was in it. Now this got me thinking that the game started to go under my radar. Now when its coming out i realized that the idea is good and that i mite like DJ hero.
![]() The problem is that its coming out at the complete wrong time. If they want to sell this thing for 120$ they should not sell it on the heels of modern warfare 2 and assassins creed 2. I only have enough money for 1 maybe 2 games tops. Im not going to spend all of my money on this plastic turn table. I guess though i will try it at my local best buy. You know maybe for Christmas i will treat myself. Activision has said that the sales will be fairly slow as it starts and they should realize that there own game, modern warfare 2, is the biggest threat to this game. But i see this to be a valuable game that most likely will spin into a franchise. I hope if so that it wont be milked to the point of death witch has almost happened to guitar hero. I will be posting daily blogs on cag repete out |

The main problem with DJ hero is that its too close to the real thing... For 129.99 you can buy a full USB DJ set that works with your computer and actually fully DJ for just 129.99. Plus you can use whatever music you have... so for 120 why "pretend" to be a DJ, for almost the same amount you can actually be a DJ. DJ hero should have just used a simple USB turntable (w/ two turntables) instead of trying to make a simple plastic instrument out of it. A guitar, and/or bass guitar, that's fine, but a DJ table w/ buttons when you can get the real thing for almost the same price is not very tempting.
Bottom line create a game that teaches people to actually DJ, so that they can enjoy the the art of being a DJ... |

There is something you two are forgetting here, as is the case with Rock Band or Guitar Hero, some people may not want the REAL thing.
Now i'm no expert at DJing, but i'm just assuming that the REAL thing, expensive or not, is probably something that must take commitment, and time, and practice and so forth. Same of course goes for RB/GH, you simply can't jump into playing the real thing, takes practice and commitment, and while it would be awesome if the games trained you for the real thing, some people like me just don't want to. ALOT of people out there buy these games to pretend to be a DJ or Guitar player, not because their too wuss to do the real thing, but they just want to jump right in and try something out. Not interested in going for the real thing, just quick easy fun. (But for people who spend hours on the games mastering expert on all songs 100%, you may want to considering leaving the game as it's clear if they took that time off the game to the real thing they would actually be good) But I can agree about DJ Hero's release timing, I want it! And Demon's Souls! But as of now I can only afford Modern Warfare 2 and GoW: Collection, ugh games,... money,.... |

@MysticRB Yeah you're right, there are some that probably will like it more as a pure "game" and not being real... but the money it took to develop the pretend hardware peripheral could have been used in making a great piece of software to go with a real (basic) DJ set and show people who to do the basics and play a game out of it as well. I know that either way you go, there's going to be some that will like one or the other. But I believed if they would have made it more REAL that they would have had a better product.
The point I'm making about real is that... the game and the real thing are so close, [in terms of hardware] I think it'd be better to just have the real thing w/ the video game software to make a true game out of the experience. |

Of course it will have slow sales at first. Everyone knows in 4 months DJ Hero will be $100-80 because retailers will have to make room for the next Hero game.

I got the game day 1 and i love it. It's pretty fun and addictive. My only complaint is that the acapella don't match up with some of the songs. Being a DJ for more than 18 years, you can hear the train wreck. I just wished they did a little more work on the mixes. With the exception of the acapella issue, the game is great and hope to see this genre continue.

@ Thomas96
Real DJ's don't buy crappy $129 turntables. It's 1200's or nothing at all. Also, DJ equipment can be really expensive. 2 turntables, mixer, PA/Receivers, two needles, slipmats, and speakers and some records or serato. (Est price over 1000 dollars) Real equipment costs more than your regular plastic game. Please leave the debate or criticism of the game to real djs not to regular gaming folks that don't understand the concept of fantasy and reality of Djing. Remember gentlemen, the game is suppose to be fun not realistic. |
