This blog is about something that has been bothering for awhile after doing certain calculations a couple months back. I decided to see how much time i would need to accomplish everything I wanted to be able to complete in a day. After tallying up the totals, i came to a shocking revelation! I could never possibly fit everything into one day! If so, i would need a 32 hour day!

Sleep - 8 hours
Work - 10 hours
Gym - 2 hours
Japanese - 1 hour
Music - 4 hours
Video Games - 1.5 hour
Required Activities (eat, clean, cook, shower, etc...) 2 hours
Sell Stuff Online - 1.5 hour
Other Hobbies (sports, browsing web, etc.) 2 hours

------------

I had even tried making a shortened version, trying to cut stuff down to the bare minimum i would like to spend with it a day. Note the first list was just the time i would like to spend with it regardless. SO i said, lets try to fit it all into as much of a compressed schedule as possible. Here's what i got.

Sleep - 7 hours
Work - 10 hours
Gym - 1.5 hours
Japanese - .5 hour
Music - 2 hours
Video Games - 1 hour
Required Activities (eat, clean, cook, shower, etc...) 2 hours
Sell Stuff Online - 1 hour
Other Hobbies (sports, browsing web, etc.) 2 hours

Even with that list, i come out with 27 hours, and that's losing an hours sleep and spending the bare minimum with each thing i do... Not to pleasant.

Not only that, but I'm sure as hell that I'm probably forgetting stuff i would like or have to do, such as banking, yard work, writing blogs, reading, etc etc. The list goes on and on with other stuff i would like to spend my time with. Hell, i didnt even mention going out with friends as something on the list... so if i did that, we might be pushing 40 hour days...

------------

All and all, writing this blog mainly to see how YOU GUYS micromanage your days. Maybe you guys don't have much you want to accomplish each day, or maybe you guys have the time. Either way, let me know how you manage your time, and any advice on how to manage mine is appreciated. Thanks for reading!

Maybe if you're young but I need 6.5-7 hours of sleep a day (I'm 33) and if not, I'm a grump for most of the day.

all of these are completely ridiculous:
Music - 4 hours
Video Games - 1.5 hour
Required Activities (eat, clean, cook, shower, etc...) 2 hours
Sell Stuff Online - 1.5 hour
Other Hobbies (sports, browsing web, etc.) 2 hours

that's the kind of schedule my roommate who works 10hrs a week has, and it's really ONLY appropriate for someone who barely works

hobbies are for weekends... and you dont have time to cook & clean on weekdays, there should be no need for it anyway, your place shouldnt be getting dirty if you're too busy to be around and cooking (anything more than a simple 10 minute meal) is illogical unless it's for multiple people (in which case cooking duty could/should alternate)

my weekdays are like this:
sleep: 7hr
transportation: 1hr
on campus: 10hr - 12hr
food: 30min
shower/brushing teeth/etc: 30min
watching tv or browsing the net: 30min - 1hr
the rest differs by day, depending on school workload

@koggit

i dont find my numbers ridicoulous by far.

Note i first said that was the time i would LIKE TO SPEND with it. not HAVE TO SPEND with it.

as far as justifying them, music is something that is a huge part of my life, and is very time consuming. Not only do i perform music, but i also record and compose music. I can easily blow 8 hours with music. 1 to 2 hours is barely enough time to make any real progress with any aspect of my music, whether it be learning new songs, or writing or recording songs.

as for the required activites, i find this number to possibly be less then what i need. I don't know about you, but i have to cook 75% of my meals, as i only get something now and then to eat outside the house. each meal from prep, cooking, actually eating, and then cleanup is a MINIMUM of 30 minutes... save its like peanut butter and jelly or something. Then theres cleaning. Sure i dont need to do it everyday, but over the week, it averages up. Maybe 3 hours spent on the lawn 1 day, 3 hours in the house another. laundry. dishes, it builds up

lastly to justify the personal activites, this is once again an average. Some night i may have bowling night which is 3 hours. Another night I may hang out with friends which could be 3-4 hours. After you average it out for the week, the time per day is pretty close to the exact amount.

2 hours a day in the gym? Anything over an hour max is just vanity. There's your timesink.
