Jet Set Radio

As I sit here waiting for Strikeforce to come on CBS I began to think about Jet Set Radio. Why? I have no idea. The original game's logo is set as my avatar and I think any Dreamcast owner could tell you that the game is a classic. Even the sequel on the Xbox, Jet Set Radio Future, was good. It was different for sure, but still good in its own way.
Sadly, like many good games, Jet Set Radio Future did poorly at retail and now it rests in the graveyard of other forgotten Sega titles such as Shenmue, Space Channel 5, and that one good Sonic game. The creator pitched a Wii game to Sega and was turned down unfortunately. But hope is not all lost! That is, if Sega is smart. Why not release the original game on XBLA/PSN? If it does well it could garner interest for a sequel. Plus, both platforms have matured to a point where you could have a full sized game available for download. It doesn't have to be some 2 hour arcade game. What do you guys think? Would you buy a Jet Set Radio port on XBLA/PSN? Do you think Sega has what it takes to create a proper sequel? |

I bought my original XBOX for JSRF. I would kill for another game. There was an article in Gameinformer last issue.. (or the issue before) about a rumor of Sony trying to get Sega to release DC games exclusively on PSN. While I was not a fan of Shenmue, Space Channel 5 was also an excellent title. Samba de Amigo used to be fun, but for some reason it's just not the same on the Wii. and for reference that one good sonic game was the original sonic game on genesis.

I bought my Dreamcast about two years ago just for Jet Grind Radio. Such an awesome game. I love a lot of the music in it, too. This one's the best: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LsHdz7Qmw6A

They would have my money for an arcade release but I sadly doubt it will happen

I got my Xbox day and date JSRF came out . I liked the first one better and the online feature that let you download pictures of the web was the best . There was nothing like tagging a big chewbacca on a billboard .

I also think of the greatness that is Jet Set Radio on occasion. The first one was a fantastic game, and was one of the few DC games that really stuck with me (Shenmue being the other). While JSRF wasn't as great, it was still a worthy entry into the series. Just imagine what they could do with the power of the PS3/X360...

I've not played either game yet, but it is actually one of the games I put on my list of games I want since I'm now considering getting a Dreamcast. I never knew much about the Dreamcast, wasn't much into gaming at that time, so I didn't know much about the game, but it does seem like an awesome concept and a great game.
I was actually thinking along the same lines the other day. I think developers should be able to see the strong followings they have in so many of the games from the past and, to me, it seems like the obvious thing to bring back some of these titles for download content or even new versions of the game. So many companies are spending tons of money on new games and they take a big risk of them flopping because no one likes it. But, if they go with tried and true games and bring them back, there is already a huge following of people that would buy the game and then even more people that will buy the game for the first time, so it is pretty much a win win. There are a lot of good games coming out, but also a lot of not so great titles, but if developers were to make a new Donkey Kong Country, Sonic Adventure, Jet Set Radio, etc. they are almost guaranteed to have a hit. I know I'm kind of hoping/rambling here, but it just seems like a win win situation, the developers get big sales and fans get another entry. Anyhow, that was just something I was thinking about. I don't know that they will come out with another entry into the Jet Set Radio series, or even put it out for download, but every top 10 list of Dreamcast games I watched had the game in there somewhere, so it certainly seems like it would be welcomed by all those gamers! |

man i loved this game and thought that the idea of it for the wii would be money in the bank. Although after nights and samba de amigo didnt go so well who knows what would happen with this. Imagine some sort of multiplayer with this concept.

I would not only buy JSR (the original) on PSN/xbla the day it came out, but I would 20 bucks for it (top end price for a psn/xbla game)

I can't imagine why people love this game. It was extremely repetitive and shallow. Tony Hawk got all the attention this game wanted.
