Black Friday 2009

So a few weeks ago I decided to save my cash up for this years black friday. Kind of had a feeling I wasn't going to be able to hang onto my money for too long, and a 360 + CODMW2 later.. my feeling was right. Looking back on it though, that probably proved to be a better decision for a few reasons. First off, I'm kind of addicted to MW2. Playing with a bunch of my friends from school (something I couldn't really do with my PS3) makes this game ten times more fun for me. Secondly, it only really cost me $80 out of pocket. Had a $20 gift card at walmart, got a $100 gift card for the purchase of the 360 which my dad used and paid me for, and traded in my RROD 360 to cover the cost of MW2. Not bad. Lastly, say what you will, but now only being without amazons BF ad, there's nothing really spectacular that I can't live without this year.

Here's a list of what caught my eye in this years ads:

Left 4 Dead 2 - $34.99
Halo 3: ODST - $34.99
Grand Theft Auto IV - $9.99
Resident Evil 5 - $19.99
Command and Conquer: Red Alert 3 - $6.99
NBA 2K10 - $24.99
UFC Undisputed - $24.99
Used DS Lite System - $59.99
Walmart - 50 $6.99 games, 40 $9.99 games
EBGames - Buy 2 Get 1 Free used games

Though some good deals are listed above, I can't help but think these games won't get played much. I think my plan of attack will be to try PMing L4D2 at Walmart. Out of all my hopeful purchases, that's what I'm looking to score the most. I'll most likely end up checking out the $7 and $10 game bins. Not expecting much other than some shovelware titles, but hopefully I'll be surprised with what they have to offer. I'm also hoping I can convince a few friends to come with me and pick up GTA4. Love playing stuff with my friends, and if they pick it up I imagine I'll get much more out of the game than I normally would. That's really the deciding factor for me. As for the DS... It's a great price, but I wonder how much use I'll be getting out of it. I already have a PSP which barely gets played as it is. In my defense (being a CAG and all), I picked up one of those $5 hong kong batteries without realizing... Only get about an hour per charge. You get what you pay for I guess. Never felt like dropping cash on a legit battery, so I guess for now I'm stuck with that. A DS seems like it would provide me with some fun, but how much more money am I looking to spend on games this year? One of the many questions that I need to answer before next friday.

Other than that, I guess if I walk out empty handed this year I won't be too dissapointed. Still have a $40 credit at Amazon, so hopefully they will come through this year. They never really seem to dissapoint, so I'm not too worried. Wonder what I'll walk away with and how much of a hit my wallet will be taking come November 27th.

The PS3 bundle at Gamestop is a great deal, although I'm sure Amazon will match it or surpass it. Might want to look at that.
