Mana Knight stayed out until 1am on Friday night (the story)

Well, some of you may remember I created a blog entry asking if I should go out to a bar/nightclub, well, I ended up actually doing this on Friday (last night). No, NONE of this took place in a video game in case you were wondering and this was NOT a dream.

Two of my co-worker friends said they were going to take me out on Friday night. The truth is despite making my blog, I kind of wanted to chicken out since I was doing too many new things at once. The two co-workers were close to my age (23 and 26), one lived in the area for over a year, while the other moved there around 2 months ago and hasn't been out to places in the area (but loves hanging out at nightclubs and stuff). My co-workers told me I was going no matter what, especially since one changed his plans to see his girlfriend another day since he badly wanted me to go out and stuff (plus he wanted to do stuff in the area for the first time). They also found many ways of talking me out of driving myself (because they figured I'd bail somehow).

The night all started when one of my co-workers came to pick me up around 7:30pm. I already had a pretty big dinner at KFC over an hour ago (so I was full and had some Pepsi to keep me awake. I never been out passed 11:30pm before and I tend to get tired easily). We drove over to another co-workers apartment to pick him up. Previously we were going to take a taxi to the places (which I was a tad unsure of, since I've never taken a taxi before), but my co-workers opted not to do it and drive there (I did NOT mention my feelings towards them on it). One of my co-workers (who I guess just wanted a cheap apartment) lives in a somewhat high crime/bad area, and going there at night was a bit freaky (where cop cars are all around the area constantly monitoring what happens). A weird person knocked on the door while we sat around on the sofa, and we saw a couple arguing in the street loudly. Once we drove off, one friend decided to stop by 7 Eleven to pick up some smokes (this was around 8pm, in a somewhat ghetto area). We saw people dressed in some of the strangest clothes walk in there.

The first place we headed to was a bar in a mostly black area, but all the people inside were white. One co-worker and I were the only black guys there, but one of my co-workers wanted to talk with people he knew there for a bit and quickly meet up with another co-worker. All that happened was we were introduced to a few people, my two friends/co-workers had two beers, and so on. They asked me if I wanted anything, but I said no. It was the type of bar that has a jukebox, not all that exciting. But after a while, people get very drunk and get into a fight (with the police coming and stuff). Overall, that bar was boring (one friend didn't really like it either, since we felt out of place there), but that was only the start of the night.

The next thing we did was head into downtown in an area where a bunch of bars/nightclubs/etc. were. We had to park in the garage and walk outside. They mentioned not to bring a jacket because it will be toasty warm inside, so I was walking outside freezing. Oh yeah, while going down the elevator from the parking garage, we were in an elevator with two attractive girls. Oh course I said nothing, but one friend got into a conversation with her finding out she just had a divorce (she was around 21-22) and mentioned she made a mistake getting married so young. We walked into one place (they checked IDs many times), but didn't go in since one of my friends was dressed too much like a gangsta (they probably felt he'd cause trouble, but he wouldn't). So we went to another place, which looked at him a bit strange, but said just to not wear what he was wearing again.

So we got into the bar around 9pm. It wasn't all that interesting and we were about to complain how shitty the night was. We all had to go to the bathroom, but it was interesting because someone was there putting soap in our hands and handing us a towel, something I've never seen before in reality. The bar/nightclub we went to, it was mostly young people there. Music wasn't all that loud early, so we just walked around. We came across those two girls from the elevator, so my friend kept talking to the girl more, and they both went away alone for a bit. They came back with a bunch of shots, which they all drank (I had none). Oh yeah, my friends did order their third beer when they got there. So the night still wasn't really anything special to me, but then my friend returns telling me the girl he was with is a stripper.

While I was there, I was mostly pretty quiet, didn't really say a word. One friend kept asking me if I was all right, I said yeah. Three girls behind me asked me if I could do them a favor taking a group picture of them, so I did. Yes, those girls were pretty. My friend told me to tell them they look beautiful after I took the picture, but all I said was they looked great. After a while, the music kept getting louder and better, playing some songs I knew one from SingStar and the radio. I could feel the music pumping in my heart since it was loud. Tons of people started dancing. I saw women jumping on top of a table doing dances (no men were allowed) and climbing/sliding on a poll. The girl my friend was talking to did some dances. My other friend talked to the other girl (the girl with the girl my friend liked), but really nothing happened. At one point when we were alone, we did talk a little (yes, I actually talked to a random girl I never knew), mentioning it was our first time there, and we weren't exactly having a lot of fun. But the fun started to kick up a bit after a while. I looked out the door seeing my friend and the girl kiss (and smoke, lol). I saw the girl he liked and her friend kiss each other (first time I've seen two girls kiss each other in reality). Lots of dancing going on, loud music, and people doing crazy things because they were drunk. I have ZERO courage to do anything crazy since I felt I'd embarrass myself (no singing any songs I knew and I didn't dance once, mostly just stood around).

Btw, here is a picture (although I had to adjust the settings since my camera doesn't take good pics) I took while out:

So just before 1am, it appears my friend got a number from the girl, but her and her friend were leaving (her friend kind of pushed her out). So I was thinking we were going to leave, but my friends said the are having one more drink. They asked me if I wanted anything for the 10th time, and while I was getting thirsty, I initially said now. Then, my friends tried convincing me to try a drink before I leave. I kept saying no over and over again to various drinks. I didn't want a beer because I felt a bottle was too much to try. So my friend said I should try a mix drink of Coke and Captain, saying it would taste like Vanilla Coke. Shockingly, I decided to take him up on his offer. So he ordered me a mixed drink. I had a sip of it with a straw, and the first thing that came out of my mouth was "This stuff tastes like shit". I took another drink, then I said the same thing. My friend tried getting me to try other drinks because he said I need to find out what I like. My other friend took a sip of the drink, agreed it tasted like shit, but said they didn't mix it right. Come to find out, they put WAY too much alcohol in it and not enough Coke, so it tasted bad. He asked the bartender to re-do it, so I had another drink. The next one didn't taste so bad and I somewhat enjoyed it. My friends kept telling me to keep drinking it. There was a picture taken of me drinking it, BUT the my friend has the good picture (my camera one is terrible). But as I had the drink, I started to work up some buzz where I had a strange feeling. I started talking a bit strange, I loosened up just a little (where I started to act a little more like my crazy self, but still mostly calm). We left around 1am, and while I was walking outside freezing, I had quite the strange feeling after the drink I can't really explain (in my body). I was still talking a bit funny (or it felt that way). As I sat in the car, I seemed to be back to normal mostly.

While we left, we ended up having to pay for the parking garage twice since my friend threw out the ticket (he paid, not me, lol). While heading back, it was a fun car trip back home. My friends were going to go out to Denny's, but that was TOO much for me since it was after 1am and I was going to go into work at 7am to work OT (one friend wasn't coming in until later, his choice). It was on the way home, so they dropped me off back home. They were very glad I hung out with them and would love for me to do it again, but we'll see if that happens again. They were very proud of what I did, having a drink, talking to a few random women, actually going out and staying out late (not bailing out), and so on. They said their next goal is to get me around a girl more possibly taking her home with me (I'm like no girl would ever do that to me, although they claim 10% of girls who go to those places hope to get laid that night).

My friend didn't show up for work for a while today (keep in mind we can come in anytime we want), since he went out to Denny's, and met up with the girl later on and slept with her. I didn't go to bed until 2am, woke up just after 6am, so I only had 4 hours of sleep last night. I feel a little tired right now, but not that bad. Today at work was interesting because I was laughing and smiling quite a bit over what happened. I also seemed a tad looser/relaxed compared to being very uptight and stuff. My friends were like I just needed to chill, not worry about plans for the next day (like I always do), only worry about now. They also tell me I think WAY too much about stuff, and I just need to chill, relax, spend a day doing absolutely nothing (like going out and not thinking about much).

So anyway, how was the night? I'll just say it was quite memorable. Some parts were very boring, some parts were a little fun. Mostly I enjoyed spending time with friends. I hated walking on beer/alcohol stains all over the floor after many people spilled their drinks. Will I do what I did again? Not really sure to be honest. Yes it was an interesting night, but to an extent I am more of the loner type person who stays inside playing games/watching movies/anime.

I DO apologize to everyone I finally had an alcoholic drink. Just before I left, I was thinking I'd have to have a contest on CAG to see who could get me to drink an alcoholic drink, but it looks like no one gets to enter that sort of contest anymore. I do feel bad for letting some down because I went so long without drinking. I mean, I went through all of college not having a single drink. I honestly didn't have a whole lot to drink (only the initial drink was a bit more due to the bartender giving me too much Captain), and I don't think I'll ever get drunk anytime soon. I don't think I'll drink alcohol again, unless someone finds a way to get me to drink.

So anyway, that's my long story. Many might be surprised I finally broke out of my shell partially, doing many things I'd never do. I might show people more pics once I get them (like if they want to see the picture of me having the Captain + Coke mixed drink). Some might not believe this blog, but seriously, this all happened and many more things, but can't remember all right now.

Now I'm going to rest.

Also, those 4 hours I slept felt more like 8 hours. It seemed like time was moving VERY slow. Lol, wouldn't you call my co-workers/friends a bad influence, making me do the stuff I did and stuff?

Cool deal guy.
Its good that your finally loosened up.
Its all about having fun at your own pace.
Not to rush in to anything.

I hear you about the drinks. I was at a XMAS party and ordered a Long Island Iced Tea that tasted like pure alcohol. Groos.
But then i Found my new favorite drink.
Kahloah and Cream. So good doesnt even taste like alcohol.

Keep up the good work blogging.

Anytime you go out you should blog about it. Sounds like a fun time.

About damn time.

You need to stop taking everything so seriously, having a drink once in a while won't kill you nor does it make you a bad person. You should try out other drinks and see if there is any that you like.

At least you went out and experienced something different.

GO MK!! See you tried something new and you didn't die or catch some weird disease. I don't regret anything I've ever done since I look at it all as one big learning process, & if you never try something you can never learn something.

Good to hear you went out and were able to try a few new things. I'm more of a beer hard liquor kind of guy, but I would have recommended something light for you to start out with like a Midori Sour or a Long Island Iced Tea.
I'm incredibly proud of you man.

Nice outing guy!

Sounds about right though -- most of the time when I'm out with a group like that, it's pretty boring stuff. Maybe one or two exciting memorable times. And feeling all nice and loosey goosey off the drinks!

Sounds like you had fun! Do what you want to, but definitely going out like that once a month or every two months is a nice change of pace!
