Well yesterday was my birthday. It was really good. My wife had got me the New Super Mario Bros Wii(the second Wii game we have purchased rampage being the first... Well third if you count the Wii play). So I was really excited to finally have another Wii game. Which my family and I played through the first couple of worlds together. We had lots of fun and I am definitely happy she got it for me.

I also received Fallout 3 Game of the Year, from my Parents. My wife had told them that I had wanted it. I have had my eye out to get a deal on it. So I was very happy to have been given it. The only problem is that they had given me the version. I laughed about it, as I do not own a Ps3. So I called my parents and told them about it. They apologized, I told them it was not a big deal. They said they had the receipt, but my only concern was even with mailing it (as they live in Oregon) it wouldn't be here until after Christmas and I did not want to stand inline of Christmas returns. Since it was sealed I figured I would take a chance, venture out to the store and see if I could trade it for the other platform. Luckily I happened upon a decent manager and had no problems (even without a gift receipt). So unlike my title may say it turned out I did get my Fallout 3 GOTY. Even though I have a backlog of games to play (having just finished the first Modern Warefare game, which my favorite part was going through Chernobyl.) Fallout 3 will go to the top of my play list.

On top of that my wife made me some delicious vanilla cake. And finished our night with some old episodes of Heroes & Farscape on Netflix instant watch. I ended up having a really great birthday playing Mario, eating cake, and watching some instant watch.

Edit: My first CAG blog btw.

Haha it's always lame to get the wrong game as a gift. I'll share my own story:

When I was a kid, I realllly wanted Dragonball Z: Legacy of Goku 2 for game boy (yes, I know. I was young!). So my birthday rolled around, and from my dad I got....Legacy of Goku 1. Which I already had. The worst part? I couldn't even return it for 2, because 1 had been marked down in price to like 15 dollars and I didn't have money to cover the difference. :(

But of course, it's the thought that counts.

I also have a story of gift giving woe;

For my birthday when I was ten, I really wanted a copy of Zelda WW. I pointed it out to my wealthy aunt and uncle whom I was spending March break with (birthday's March 13th) and they appeared to be interested in purchasing it for me. So my birthday came along and I was so excited as they said to close my eyes and proceeded to pull out my present. When I opened my eyes, my mouth hit the floor and disappointment hit me like a sack of bricks. They had gotten my Zelda LttP/4 Swords for Gameboy Advance which I already had :(

But they were good about it and took me to the store the next day to return the game and buy WW.

I'll throw in my story of a gift mistake:

When I was a kid, my dad asked me what I wanted for Christmas. I told him I wanted the Transformers Constructicons set. Christmas comes, and my dad brings me a large gift, about the right size. I tear into it and what do I find? A set of Hot Wheels construction vehicles. Sigh. On a high note, I recently found one of those bootleg versions of the Constructicons at Big Lots, so nearly 25 years later, I finally have Devastator. Hooray for happy endings!

Well funny enough they also bought my Daughter, a Blu-ray version of Pixar's Up(for Christmas). She told me she thought that was the only way to purchase the DVD. Of coarse, We don't have a Blu-ray player, but lucky enough it comes with the DVD version of the movie. So atleast she gets to watch it and will have a copy of it when we do decide to upgrade our entertainment centers. =)
