Blink red light?? Don't you mean the yellow flash, then red, then off.
But seriously dude, if you plan on keeping it you are wasting your time. If you get it repaired, it's just gonna die again within a few months. Your best bet is to get it repaired, sell it, and then buy a slim. I don't want to sound mean, but it would be hilarious if the console already had YLoD that was fixed and you were conned by an elderly couple. |

^^^^^^ Ignore that from mitch079, that link is just trying to sell you a useless "guide". If you are adventurous and want to fix it yourself, follow these videos http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U70SgRDVcBo (Part 1)
That series of videos will show you everything from taking the PS3 apart to putting it back together. It was what I used the first time I fixed YLoD. |

RchrdJ is correct about your options. I would say either do it yourself, send it to Sony or another place to get it fixed or sell it on Craigslist and get the money to buy a slim. You will not have Linux OS options but other than that you can at least use the money to get the Slim for $100 or less selling your PS3 which seems to have a YLOD problem.
