My neck problem.

Never a cheery blog from Jack-Hunter, eh?

Oh well.

I'm making this blog to talk about something that's been killing me for the past three years, physically.

It all started three years ago, when I had this incredibly odd habit of jerking my head back hard. I can't remember why I was doing it. It sounds like a very pointless and ridiculous thing to do, especially now in hindsight..since I know what it's caused.

Anyway..after that incident (I jerked it back about 10 times maybe) that only lasted a day, i've had this incredible pain inside my head (where the spine connects to the skull, presumably.) And i've gone to doctors who have prescribed me Naproxen and muscle relaxants. Nothing works.

Hell, i've found that the only time that the pain goes away is when I take a hot shower, when I lay down still, when I tie a cloth around my neck almost to the point of cutting off circulation, and when I take 3 extra strength tylenols.

I've gone to the chiropractor twice (although a year was in between the visits) and it seems to help..but only for a few hours, then the pain comes back.

So guys. What the hell do I do?

This pain is SO bad, I feel like an old man living off his last days.

This is probably the main contributor to my major depression.

One time it went away while I was running..but it hurt like hell up until it suddenly went away.

I've had MRI's done, x-ray's, and the ing doctor's say nothing is wrong.

Tired of this shit.

You can recommend me over the counter pills and all, but I want a permanent solution.

If the doctors find nothing wrong..then what the ?

It's been three years. And I 'know' this isn't out of stress.

EDIT:

Forgot to mention that when I look up (as in, moving my skull upwards as in looking at the ceiling) it gets worse. Sometimes I hear a loud "crack!" when I do it, too. And then when I turn my head left or right, I can hear (and feel..slightly) miniature "cracks" like if bones are misplaced or something.

Sometimes I look down (move my skull down till my chin touches my collarbone) and push my head further down with my hand..and I hear things pop and stretch.

Doing any better with your panic attacks? Do you sit around and stay on the pc a lot? Not always, but sometimes I get really bad neck/arm pains when I do.

My panic attacks have gone away.

This is a physical problem completely stress unrelated.

And no, I actually don't. This computer pisses me off.

Usually on the ps3, laying down, which makes me feel better.

How did you get over your panic attacks? I still have them. <_<

I just started ignoring them.

I still lose sleep, fearing that they'll come back though.

Have you tried a chiropractor?

Grow neck beard and shift the large weight of your double chin to the side, that's what I do on account of my girth.

Tighten the cloth more.
It sounds like your neck muscles are tense, which also forces your vertebrae to be out of place. If this is the case, you need to have your neck muscles massaged multiple times a day - not professionally, but have a loved one do it or do it yourself. You also need to visit a good chiropractor regularly (twice in a year won't cut it). You might have to go three times a week for the first few weeks. Try to find a good chiropractor that will work out a deal if you have limited funds. Make sure you massage your neck a lot, especially before and after chiropractic adjustments. I'm pretty sure this will help you.

Lol at that.

I have the same shit. Your back is just severly out of line I am sure. I have been told to go to the chiropractor on numerous occasions, but I refuse to go see anyone for anything. I always believe in just toughing it out, and letting time do the trick...like that one time I skipped out on surgery for my elbow, or that other time... haha, just kidding...but seriously.

Also, try not to crack your back as often...let it get tight, and try to ignore it. Stretch constantly and maybe even pick up yoga. I should be doing all of these, and I don't. Everysince I have stopped working out/playing college hockey, my whole body has gone to shit, and my back is the first thing that went, cuz the second I stopped working out I sat down all day (imagine sitting in a foldout chair for a full year, ouch).
